Meanwhile, the rest of the Senate munch on their popcorn and watch the drama unfold...

The thing I love about this is how utterly logical and total Anakin is in his statements---he's incredibly Vader-like in this scene. I love it!

I like how this series shows this dark side to Anakin and Padme's relationship, a lot like the movies' novelizations did (especially Matthew Stover's Revenge of the Sith novel). It gives a more harsh and realistic tone to the relationship by showing just how controlling Anakin was of Padme, how destructive his love for her could be, and how capable he was of breaking her heart even before he became Vader.
It's scenes like this that show that while their relationship is beautiful and emotional, it's also one of possessiveness and desperation. It's the kind of relationship that rarely lasts in real life... chances are, even if the whole Darth Vader thing never happened, they still would have hit rock bottom eventually. A passion as intense as theirs just doesn't fly in the long term :(

I think they would have lasted because once they calm down and take a step back they work really well together. He only got really upset when it was her putting her own life at risk to get information from an ex boyfriend.

@@sks17873 As much as I would have wanted them to last, I honestly don't think they would've. Yes, the war was putting a toll on them, however I think losing his mother made Anakin VERY possessive. Let's face it, he had mental problems, and if he wouldn't go to therapy (which he never would because he's too proud) they would break apart. Every flame, no matter how fierce it is, has to die one day.

@@fourseventyseven2830 It's not that he wouldn't have gone to therapy because he was too proud. The problem was who could he go to? Anakin was an isolated character, even from those closest to him. They either couldn't understand him without judging him or risking his reputation (the Jedi and Obi-Wan), they were too close to him to give objectivity (Padme or Ahsoka), couldn't do anything about it (the Clones), or they had nefarious plans for him (Palpatine and his associates). For being a futuristic society, the SW universe has never given much insight to basic psychology and counseling on the basis it contradicts everything to do with the Jedi worldview because it's based on Neo-Buddhism which rejects the material universe and concerns in saying that worldly attachments and emotions lead to evil, and that's simply not true. Anakin's mother was murdered in a brutal fashion. The natural instinct is vengeance! Does it make it right? No. But was his anger and hatred understandable? Absolutely. The problem is Anakin was never able to process it because he couldn't go to anyone who could really help him. In Anakin's mind, he thought he would lose everything which led to so many secrets. He couldn't trust those around him and it didn't help that he was being glorified and held up as the Chosen One because of all the attention focused on him.
Also, Anakin had to refer Obi-Wan as Master. The boy was a former SLAVE! That only ingrains his past as a slave and from the surrounding stories and comics of Anakin as a Padawan, we know he was excluded by other kids. His life couldn't possibly be more different from the other initiates and the Jedi had been so set in their ways for so long, they didn't know how to train or handle someone with his background.

Is is bad thing that I know this argument scene word for word? XD
I just love their relationship even if it shows the hidden truths of how dark it can be at times. But it is truly painful to know that they won't be there for the future children and I would say they would have made good parents regardless of their 'dark' sides. I mean have you seen the way Anakin and Padme act when Ahsoka needs advice and such? They act like they could be her parents. ❤️

I'm a woman, and I'm 100% with Anakin on this one.
Putting yourself into a sexually vulnerable situation is a bad idea.
Especially with a pushy ex boyfriend. Especially when Palpatine asks you to.

They are arguing like an old married couple in front of the entire senate and then get surprised when they find out people know about their relationship.
