I have not seen the movies, but in the book, Imprinting does not have to be romantic. It can range from any where from a brotherly relationship to being romantic. I'm pretty sure at least until Renesmee is old enough, it is more like Jacob loves her unconditionally as a brother.

If my memory serves, Sam explains it to Bella that imprinted couples become each other's perfect partners, so they usually do choose each other - as Sam puts it, "why wouldn't they?" - but they don't HAVE to, Renesmee can choose whoever she wants, and that any choice won't come until she's grown up.
Even though this is only a movie/book, one cannot help to feel sorry for Jacob for he is a protagonist and just wants to have a relationship with Bella.

A part of me has always wondered and I don't think no one else has picked up on this but after doing some research I'm Curious..now we all know that Bella is a shield which keeps her mind and body from being affected by any super natural elements...which we see with Edward, Jane, and even Kate's lighting in her palms...so did anyone ever think that maybe that rule applied to werewolves as well? because I know imprinting is more so about finding your soulmate but whose to say that it doesn't affect you mentally or physically from what we know about it and seen it's this intangible force that you can't explain and all of a sudden you feel drawn to that person despite might not even knowing them so whose to say the reason why Jacob didn't imprint on Bella is impart because she's a shield...keeping her self from being affected by it? there by not allowing the imprint to take hold... imo the theory doesn't seem that farfetched.
This is my take and yall are allowed to have your own opinions. Jacob imprinting on Nessie as a baby was weird yes, but the book TO ME explained it better (made it less weird). The relationship becomes what the two individuals want it be. As a baby jake is her protector she can't defend or do anything herself. As she grows he becomes her friend cause again they are suppose to have so kind of connection towards each other. Once Nessie becomes an adult her feels will change thus the romance. Emily Also Bella and Edward was no different. She was 18 and he was 109 but people let that slide cause he looked like her age. He looked 17. Therefore to me if you coming for jake go for Edward as well. Also back in days weren't children put in arranged marriages and taught or raised to be the perfect wife/husband for the other.. Sometimes those men were older and the girls were like little babies. Overall I am not agree or justifying this imprinting thing , I am just seeing it from the angle the book made it to be. Yes he's been around for over a hundred years but he stopped aging when he turned, so in actuality, he's a teenager himself. Bella met him at school where he was a student. I think there is a misunderstanding about imprinting. Imprinting is involuntary. There shouldn't be any weird feelings about Jacob and Renesmee. If you recall, Jacob was on his way to kill the baby, and when their eyes met, it was more like she imprinted on HIM. Thats what stopped him from hurting her. Jacob didn't choose this. It was a predetermined destiny.
Jacob is frustrated not only because Bella is about to become a vampire in a month but he didn't Imprinted on her which mean Jacob thought he and Bella were just never meant to be together

If Stephanie wanted to take the pain up a notch, she would have made Jacob imprint on Bella, and make Bella choose Edward *_anyway._* As much as I love the idea of Jacob and Bella together, because with him, she's an actual person, I feel like him imprinting on Bella would have made more sense than Jacob imprinting on a *_baby._* (I know it was to get the triangle out of the way and everyone's happy but it's still stupid.) He would have still kept Bella and Nessie protected, tolerated the Cullens, and the books would end up virtually the same, but with some further depth to them.
I actually agree, I feel like what she could have essentially done was have Jacob imprint on Bella, and then maybe after giving birth the imprint kind of shifts to renesme, think of it as a premature imprinting because since renesme technically didn't exist Bella could have become the default to his imprinting, and it could have justified him imprinting (completely) on renesme in the end. either that or I would have also like to have seen Jacob try to get over Bella with someone else like maybe there could have been a girl who had a crush on him at school or something because Bella despite Knowing how Jacob felt always relied on him even after choosing Edward from the 2nd movie onward but it would have been nice to see how Bella would have reacted knowing that Jacob wasn't just all hers anymore, because despite everything Jacob always put Bella's needs above everything and everyone else so it would have been nice to see if she would get a little jealous or do anything really. it may seem to extra to add to the plot but i feel like it would have been necessary. Because Bella never had any competition mean while both Edward and Jacob were competition to each other.

While I'm not particularly fond of the idea of the imprinting upon Renesmee, but I do agree that it would have made much more sense in the imprint being passed down because she chose Edward. The original course seems like it was just made to solve the problem, and it's something Bella even acknowledges in the book. The second idea appeals more, and here's why: Bella has always described herself as selfish. She's very selfless, or she is until it comes to letting either Jacob or Edward go. She chooses in the "love triangle" fairly quickly, but is still angry when Jacob doesn't want to speak or visit her as he once did. She expects him to act the same, all while knowing she'll never choose him over Edward, and that's _unfair,_ but still expected from him by her. (After the second kiss in Eclipse, when Jacob asks what the worst part about picking is, she says, "The worst is that I saw the whole thing - our whole life. And I want it bad, Jake, I want it all. I want to stay right here and never move. I want to love you and make you happy. And I can't, and it's killing me.") So taking that into account, I would reorder a few things. She would figure out she's in love with Jake, still choose Edward, be changed, and then get married to tie up her loose ends, and live happily with Edward. While this eliminates Renesmee, I feel like him having some wiggle room from the Cullens would have been healthier, rather than constantly having to see Edward and Bella wrapped up in each other. But this would also go hand and hand with Jake always loving Bella, so it's hard for him to look at, especially knowing what is supposedly _meant_ _to_ _be._ Given that situation, I would have probably placed him with Leah, as I felt they understand loving someone and being unable to be with them, despite that person loving them still, just not enough. (While it would be complicated, I think it would have been the best way to go, imprint or not.) I'd like to think Bella will be jealous later on down the line, in her own little way, when Renesmee's story with Jacob turns romantic - but in this second version, I would think it would be much worse for Bella to handle seeing him with someone else. Even from her own admission of being in love with him, and the change heightening things from the previous life, I feel as though the imprint would genuinely affect her, and she would struggle with it silently a great deal more than the jealousy I would like to think she would feel in the original situation. (That, and I think Jacob choosing, rather than imprinting on someone would affect her psyche much more, as he would both somewhat let her go *and* be moving on with someone that he makes his own mind up about.) Eventually, by default, Jacob would find out by her jealousy, whether by secondhand or by smelling it and recognizing it. And I think him knowing she's jealous would make it all that much harder in the end on both of them, as she refuses to budge, but she's still simmering in a mess that was supposedly resolved. Maybe jacob was confused as to why he loved Bella. Like he knew it was her. But he didn’t imprint so it had to be her daughter. Like it was meant to be her daughter. Vampires and werewolves (magical creatures) go by and live their lives by like weird rules and senses. MAYBE jacob senses something with Bella but it was actually her daughter. That's not how it works, Renesme was his soul mate, there's no such thing as imprinting on multiple people or having more then one soul mate, if Bella chose Jacob that would have just be it, he would have just chose Bella of his own free will and not rely on his Biology "imprinting" to tell him otherwise, both Bella and Edwards DNA and genetic material made up renesme essentially Jacobs soulmate with out that happening he never would have imprinted or find that "person" because he never would have existed to begin with.
Let us consider this scene as a first time to watch before we know the fact that he is imprinting on her daughter. As a first time, when he just told her that “you would know if I imprinted on someone” I thought he lies about it because he knows Bella’s feelings toward Edwards and he did not want to show weaknesses by telling her that he is in love. I was not like; yeah Jacob does not lie , he just said the truth which is he still did not imprint on someone

A part of me has always wondered and I don't think no one else has picked up on this but after doing some research I'm Curious..now we all know that Bella is a shield which keeps her mind and body from being affected by any super natural elements...which we see with Edward, Jane, and even Kate's lighting in her palms...so did anyone ever think that maybe that rule applied to werewolves as well? because I know imprinting is more so about finding your soulmate but whose to say that it doesn't affect you mentally or physically from what we know about it and seen it's this intangible force that you can't explain and all of a sudden you feel drawn to that person despite might not even knowing them so whose to say the reason why Jacob didn't imprint on Bella is impart because she's a shield...keeping her self from being affected by it? there by not allowing the imprint to take hold... imo the theory doesn't seem that farfetched.

This is my take and yall are allowed to have your own opinions.
Jacob imprinting on Nessie as a baby was weird yes, but the book TO ME explained it better (made it less weird). The relationship becomes what the two individuals want it be. As a baby jake is her protector she can't defend or do anything herself. As she grows he becomes her friend cause again they are suppose to have so kind of connection towards each other. Once Nessie becomes an adult her feels will change thus the romance.

Also Bella and Edward was no different. She was 18 and he was 109 but people let that slide cause he looked like her age. He looked 17. Therefore to me if you coming for jake go for Edward as well.
Also back in days weren't children put in arranged marriages and taught or raised to be the perfect wife/husband for the other.. Sometimes those men were older and the girls were like little babies.
Overall I am not agree or justifying this imprinting thing , I am just seeing it from the angle the book made it to be. The writing behind the movies is what added to that weirdness. Yes he's been around for over a hundred years but he stopped aging when he turned, so in actuality, he's a teenager himself. Bella met him at school where he was a student. Nothing strange or dirty about their attraction to one another.
As for Jacob and Renesmee, Jacob had no control in the matter. Imprinting is not something you choose - It's destiny. Or else Jacob would have long ago imprinted on Bella.

I think there is a misunderstanding about imprinting. Imprinting is involuntary. There shouldn't be any weird feelings about Jacob and Renesmee. If you recall, Jacob was on his way to kill the baby, and when their eyes met, it was more like she imprinted on HIM. Thats what stopped him from hurting her. Jacob didn't choose this. It was a predetermined destiny.
Jacob is frustrated not only because Bella is about to become a vampire in a month but he didn't Imprinted on her which mean Jacob thought he and Bella were just never meant to be together

As much as I love the idea of Jacob and Bella together, because with him, she's an actual person, I feel like him imprinting on Bella would have made more sense than Jacob imprinting on a *_baby._* (I know it was to get the triangle out of the way and everyone's happy but it's still stupid.) He would have still kept Bella and Nessie protected, tolerated the Cullens, and the books would end up virtually the same, but with some further depth to them.
I actually agree, I feel like what she could have essentially done was have Jacob imprint on Bella, and then maybe after giving birth the imprint kind of shifts to renesme, think of it as a premature imprinting because since renesme technically didn't exist Bella could have become the default to his imprinting, and it could have justified him imprinting (completely) on renesme in the end.
either that or I would have also like to have seen Jacob try to get over Bella with someone else like maybe there could have been a girl who had a crush on him at school or something because Bella despite Knowing how Jacob felt always relied on him even after choosing Edward from the 2nd movie onward but it would have been nice to see how Bella would have reacted knowing that Jacob wasn't just all hers anymore, because despite everything Jacob always put Bella's needs above everything and everyone else so it would have been nice to see if she would get a little jealous or do anything really. it may seem to extra to add to the plot but i feel like it would have been necessary. Because Bella never had any competition mean while both Edward and Jacob were competition to each other.

While I'm not particularly fond of the idea of the imprinting upon Renesmee, but I do agree that it would have made much more sense in the imprint being passed down because she chose Edward. The original course seems like it was just made to solve the problem, and it's something Bella even acknowledges in the book.
The second idea appeals more, and here's why: Bella has always described herself as selfish. She's very selfless, or she is until it comes to letting either Jacob or Edward go. She chooses in the "love triangle" fairly quickly, but is still angry when Jacob doesn't want to speak or visit her as he once did. She expects him to act the same, all while knowing she'll never choose him over Edward, and that's _unfair,_ but still expected from him by her. (After the second kiss in Eclipse, when Jacob asks what the worst part about picking is, she says, "The worst is that I saw the whole thing - our whole life. And I want it bad, Jake, I want it all. I want to stay right here and never move. I want to love you and make you happy. And I can't, and it's killing me.")
So taking that into account, I would reorder a few things. She would figure out she's in love with Jake, still choose Edward, be changed, and then get married to tie up her loose ends, and live happily with Edward. While this eliminates Renesmee, I feel like him having some wiggle room from the Cullens would have been healthier, rather than constantly having to see Edward and Bella wrapped up in each other. But this would also go hand and hand with Jake always loving Bella, so it's hard for him to look at, especially knowing what is supposedly _meant_ _to_ _be._
Given that situation, I would have probably placed him with Leah, as I felt they understand loving someone and being unable to be with them, despite that person loving them still, just not enough. (While it would be complicated, I think it would have been the best way to go, imprint or not.)
I'd like to think Bella will be jealous later on down the line, in her own little way, when Renesmee's story with Jacob turns romantic - but in this second version, I would think it would be much worse for Bella to handle seeing him with someone else. Even from her own admission of being in love with him, and the change heightening things from the previous life, I feel as though the imprint would genuinely affect her, and she would struggle with it silently a great deal more than the jealousy I would like to think she would feel in the original situation. (That, and I think Jacob choosing, rather than imprinting on someone would affect her psyche much more, as he would both somewhat let her go *and* be moving on with someone that he makes his own mind up about.)
Eventually, by default, Jacob would find out by her jealousy, whether by secondhand or by smelling it and recognizing it. And I think him knowing she's jealous would make it all that much harder in the end on both of them, as she refuses to budge, but she's still simmering in a mess that was supposedly resolved.

That's not how it works, Renesme was his soul mate, there's no such thing as imprinting on multiple people or having more then one soul mate, if Bella chose Jacob that would have just be it, he would have just chose Bella of his own free will and not rely on his Biology "imprinting" to tell him otherwise, both Bella and Edwards DNA and genetic material made up renesme essentially Jacobs soulmate with out that happening he never would have imprinted or find that "person" because he never would have existed to begin with.
Let us consider this scene as a first time to watch before we know the fact that he is imprinting on her daughter. As a first time, when he just told her that “you would know if I imprinted on someone” I thought he lies about it because he knows Bella’s feelings toward Edwards and he did not want to show weaknesses by telling her that he is in love. I was not like; yeah Jacob does not lie , he just said the truth which is he still did not imprint on someone
Harley Quinn The reason why Jacob said "you would know if I had" is to let Bella know that if he imprinted on someone who wasn't her that he wouldn't want or have been around her as much as he still does or show that he still interested. And to let her know that he didn't imprint on her to kind of make her feel a little better and to not ruin what they already have.
