Thank you for showing this! I broke my hip in a wreck a few years ago and was denied a checkup xrays and physical therapy, I have been struggling with weakness on one side!
Holy moly, I have been dealing with this issue for over 3 years now and I tried a wide variety of mobility exercises without success. This video describes my issue so accurately and the solution seems to work wonders already. Thank you so, so much!!
@@razmuzen1090 Not completely, but I've made major improvements. :) I can now squat without any hip shift, as long as I do the hip planes before the squat session. I am hoping to squat symmetrically without the need for hip planes in the future.
I can’t thank you enough for your content. As a young person I find my peers rarely talk about the importance of mobility. You have saved many peoples joints, including myself.
Thank you _so much_ for your detailed, specific, accurate, and relevant videos. You have really helped me diagnose and start to work on my hip issues in my squat AND you’re saving me money because I will have a lot of this sorted before I meet with a physical therapist in my area to work on my specific situation. Thank you, thank you, thank you 🙏🏼
my God! i really needed this so badly! i have been searching high and low for answers. i notice i shift to my left when squatting, and also, doing lunges or RDL gets harder, because i couldn’t keep my balance with my other leg, it is so frustrating! thanks so much for this! i’m so grateful to have found your channel!🙏🏻❤️
Always noticed when sitting and crossing my legs I couldn't really do it comfortably with my left leg while I did with my right leg (same principle as the faber test) and with my squat I have that hip shift all the time. Never knew they were correlated! Thank you so much for these tips I'm definitely gonna work on them now and see if it improves my squat.
This is incredible, I cant thank you enough! I knew I had a hip hike and chiropractor visits were just a temporary fix. My squats are a lot more even and I can actually activate my left glute! On top of that my discomfort has disappeared. Thank you, thank you!
Can't tell you how happy I am to have found this channel. You're confirming what I've believed about my hips and pointing me in the right direction with these simple and great exercises
I have had a sore and out of sync ( right ) pelvis for 2 months now. I just did what you showed us and there is a huge improvement. I will do it again for a few days and monitor the alignment. I just used the bannister at the top of my stairs to hold on to. Thank you so very much Dr. Aaron, I have tried many different exercises, but this is a game changer. Instant subscribe !c
You are a genious, I thoroughly appreciate your videos as they are highly functional and the foundation to getting stronger. I have been avoiding lifting a while although I love it, but it is not because I am lazy it's because I have so many "sitting" problems that have gotten worse overtime and your approach to simple and soft rehabilitation and mind/body connection is astounding. Thanks again and keep up the great work!
Been dealing with this for a long time. A good warmup helps, but also getting flat shoes for drip (instead of squatting in socks, and working on lower weight squats with holds, and feeling each glute medius and max working. Squats are getting better and I'm instantly stronger!
Haven't finished watching the full video yet. But omg from the very beginning of this video I saw the exactly same problem as mine. I have the same hip shift direction, and when I cross my legs in front of computer, I realize my right knee will be higher. I tried to froce it down but didn't work. Now i'm gonna watch the rest of the video and hopefully fix my problem☺️
Amazing content. I have the same issue as the case study cliemt; just opposite sides. Couldn't get my head through this problem, I was always thinking the problem was on one side.. When in truth one side is mobile and not stable, while the other is stable and not mobile (each side is compensating for the other one). Thanks a lot!
I think this is my problem. Because with the fable test my left side is higher than my right. However when I do the airplane on my right side it is more unstable. My left side can handle it much better. Thanks for your comment because I was confused I thought my right side was the issue yet the test was saying it was my left side. But seeing this comment helped me make sense of the issue!
I thoroughly enjoyed with Chuck's example. That really sold me on this! I have exactly the same issue with my hips (FABER test) but i didn't know it could lead to a hip shift, I'll have to film myself to check. Thanks for another amazing video Dr. Horschig!
This is brilliant I have a friend who trains with me and I’ve notice a real lean to the right when he Squats and also when he performs a chest press his body leans to the right he says he has always been this way since he was kid but his parents didn’t take him to see a medical professional
DAMN... I'm having this issue together with left side hip flexor strain due to muscle compensation..couldn't train properly for 2 months.. I had no idea why I always did this untill I saw what the patient did at the end of the video... Really grateful for the info!
Use faber test to locate mobility issue. clear it up with assisted hip sirplane by openening the hip. Then move to stability, movement reeducation. To move symmetrically. That is a start. Do this i’d say. Daily, as a warmup. Nice learned alot.
That client's symptoms are identical to mine. Right has less mobility and left side is always sore. Because the left side is always sore that's the side I stretched the most, not knowing I'm probably making my symptoms worse. Thanks so much for this video I am excited to start this.
Really enjoyed this video. I have this exact issue. My right glute doesn't fire properly but has better flexibility in the squat versus the left glutes fires perfectly but not as flexible.
How great the tests and the solutions for squat in this video. My clients do have such unbalanced and shift while squatting. Appreciated the sharing of you expertises.
omg that is why I shift one side when doing squats will try all these and let you know the outcome, I keep thinking I am super tight on one side. your videos are awesome and so dam helpful thanks heaps
Excellent, informative videos as always. I have the exact same issue as the guy in the video. This has over time caused lower back pain in squats etc. Will give this a go!
Having a hip shift to the right side, I tried this out, but I didn't have much of a difference in external rotation, only a very slight difference. Worked on that, so it was even, but still had a slight shift. So I tried internal rotation and that's where I found my left leg was having problems. Working on that now and seeing good results. But thanks for this info, really helped me figure out why I had a hip shift when squatting :D
OMG. THIS WAS AWESOME! I am blown away after doing these stretches I can deep squat. 🤩🤩 thanks so much looking forward to more hip mobility/shift stretches and if one day im rich enough to come get treated I will come see you 😃😃😃
Interesting, seeing a paused shot on 7:55, is clear yngst there's shoulder asymmetry too. Look where the elbow lines up over the knee on the right side and over the mid- thigh on the left.
Could you do a video on how to test/ troubleshoot hip nerve impingement on front groin to leg? How to find what is causing the issue? A series of tests that narrow what it could be? Hip mobility, hip stability, or imbalance , lower back disc herniation
What is the healthiest position of the ilium bones while standing and sitting? How should they move in a squat? I noticed that my right ilium flared out. I think I have corrected I have corrected much of this flaring by forcefully contracting the transverse abs, and pushing the upper sacrum back with my breath and bracing. The latter improved my lower back excessive lordosis. Avoiding the flaring out of my right ilium improved my knee pain, and I made a further step toward the pistol squat. I'd love to watch a video on the subject of my first paragraph. Congrats for the highest quality content of your channel!
I have the exact same issue. I get really tight in the TFL which I think is preventing my left glute to fire, leading to pain in the left knee and also piriformis...
I have the exact same issues as your case study. How convenient! Thank you for creating this video, and I'm glad I found it. Don't worry, I'll perform my own test before beginning the intervention.
Ohh..Thnx for this..coz I was searching this issue over Web.. Now I could solve my hip shift problem.. Apart from this... During leg lunges, my right leg not able to go down as low as left leg..I feel pain also. May you plz resolve this issue..
Has the exact same problem of shifting hips. I have limited ER in right leg and hamstring /quads is firing in glute bridge excersise. Will try this and see if it improves. Thanks for sharing!
Exaggerated my hip imbalance deadlifting a few days ago, left groin pain daily when squatting for almost a week. Did this and it almost completely disappeared😮
Love it, but if I understand correctly glute external rotation and extension are different, as extension to closer correlated with internal rotation, which is obvious the opposite of ER. But hey, your content is fire which is way more important than semantics or explanations
I dont think it's a placebo...i did thr airplane stretch for like 10min last night and my discomfort went away almost immediately....will be adding this into my warmup for sure

Hi Aaron could this be related to ankle restriction
This videos winner is: Ryan Goligher
Thank you for showing this! I broke my hip in a wreck a few years ago and was denied a checkup xrays and physical therapy, I have been struggling with weakness on one side!

You're welcome!
Same with me bro
I noticed it 30sec ago myself
Same here but it started I believed before I even started working out when I had injured my lower back left side
I noticed this today after a few weeks of good squatting 🙁
