- Parts of the country are in the midst of an historic deep freeze. The wind chill factor hit 51 degrees below zero in Chicago, according to the National Weather Service. Local officials there had to set fire to the commuter train tracks to keep them from freezing. Experts are also advising people to take precautions and stay warm. Dr. Tania Elliott says it’s important to keep your skin moisturized. #InsideEdition

Endo_Unknown 2005 that wasn’t anything. I lived in Richmond and nothing was a bad as the year in Ohio with -50 wind chills. NC has never felt that.
North Carolina will never get that cold, although it feels cold to us, it’s nothing compared to chicago right now

This it actually true. Here in Lancaster it’s soo cold but at first when I went to school I didn’t think much of it I thought it was a normal day and a normal temperature until I was walking back home (one of the cleaning ppl told me it was a two hour delay) I felt like my legs were ice! I didn’t have anything to protect my legs only my school pants and nothing underneath to give me that warm. Once I got home they still felt ice and had little bums all over my legs. I scared so I took a hot shower but then regretting my decision so I went to bed and put on thick blankets on me. Thankfully they were gone but it itch a lot and my back hurts too.
Damn I wish I was there.

I live in London, Ontario, Canada and I DO NOT remember ever getting this cold here. It's colder than Chicago overall but I guess it's more prone to Arctic air and Polar Vortexes. I wish this could happen to our city sometime but it's unlikely - makes me sad. Global warming is ruining winters.
The only coldest windchill I remember seeing was I believe back in 2018. The bomb cyclone was giving us such cold temperatures that Weather Network predicted a temperature of -27 degrees Celsius feels like -40 degrees Celsius/Fahrenheit.
This year we didn't even get to experience -20 degrees Celsius, which truly is saddening. We should be experiencing that at least once or twice every year, maybe even -30 every two years or more.
