I just started using builder gel and love the strength it gives but I have flexible natural nails so tried rubber base. I used rubber base and builder gel and built a small extension but I’ve noticed the rubber base is peeling underneath the free edge. Maybe I’ll have to try it just over my natural nails once they grow to a length I’m happy with!
Yay for loving builder gel! Rubber base would only go on the natural nail part and the extension would be all builder gel. Rubber base doesn’t extend nails unfortunately!
Thanks for the advice. When redoing nails and keeping some of the builder gel on, do you then use the rubber base on top of that still?
Welcome!! For this mani I did the rubber base under the builder gel. So when I do a fill, I’ll put a small amount of rubber base on the new growth of my nail and then do the builder gel fill. You can put rubber base on top if you like the rubber base colors!

Why wouldn’t the builder gel dry over rubber base? I used sol dips products.
@@nelidawalkup3350 hi! You can use builder gel over rubber base like I did in this video- both are gel products and need fully cured in a lamp! Dip powders with dip liquids do not need cured.
If I were to use a rubber base with a soak off builder gel (essentially both being soak off) AND using soft gel full cover tips (xxxl) could I use hard gel over the full cover tips? Or would that be a no no since it’s a hard gel over a soft gel? I just keep hearing you use hard gels for length and strength but you use soft gels and rubber bases for soft, weak, brittle natural nails (which I have) but I want my extended tips to be strong, but the base to be easy to take off. I would file off the hard gel and soak off the rest of the tip, builder, and rubber base? Would that be in correct order?
I personally would just use builder gel! You can use the builder gel to adhere the tips AND put it over the tips for extra strength. The builder gel I use cures hard (even though it’s a soak off). You don’t even need to soak off. You can just do fills of the tips with builder gel each time! Soaking off with acetone makes a lot of peoples nails weaker. I haven’t used acetone in like 4 years! I just do fills of the builder gel. And when I want to totally remove it- I just file down to a really thin layer of the BG to check on my nail health or switch BG colors! Are you in the US or Canada? I can recommend my favorite builder gel if you are!!

Hi Nicole, thank you for this video! I had a question after adding the builder gel on top of the rubber. Do I need to add a base coat on top of my builder gel before coloring my nails with other gel polish? Like before the design part?
You’re welcome!! So that depends on if you like to wipe off the tacky layer of Bg and then file and shape it. If you do that, then yes you’d need gel base for the gel color to adhere to. If you don’t file and shape your Bg- you can go right into color as long as the Bg you use leaves a sticky dispersion layer when fully cured!

@@NicolesBeautyScene I push my cuticle back, do a dry/russian manicure, clip my eponychium, I use makartts dehydrator and primer. I double prime too. I use Luna’s transparent rubber base. So I’m wondering if it could be an issue with using different brands or if I may just need to use an acid primer rather than just a “sticky” primer
Can anyone help me?! I've been trying to find an answer for my question online and haven't yet. Do I need to wipe the rubber base with alcohol(after being cured) before I put the BIAB on top of it?
If anybody can help me out with this question, I'd really appreciate it 🙏
Hi! Nope you want to keep the tackiness of the rubber base so the builder gel has something to adhere to. You can wipe the builder gel with alcohol after you’re all done curing if you want to file and shape it!
