The element of not knowing where the stone is going to end up before you throw the spears seems like it could make for some really tense moments. I love it!
Chunkey was played into the 19th century by tribal Indians and by all written accounts was played on an approx. 100 ft length bare dirt (or sand) court and the Chunkey sticks were thrown underhand, while the stone was rolling, to land and slide along-side of the Chunkey stone and come to rest at the same distance as the stone to win the possessions being wagered ... I'm not sure what game these people are playing,
got recommended this after watching a video on Cahokia which mentioned Chunkey. looks fun!

An older lady gave me a Chunkey stone. Her son found it years ago while he was working at a sod farm.

Fun!
"before precolonization" yeah that phrase makes sense...
Honey chunky is ancient aztec, mayan game you play differently than I was taught for sure
I'm sure there were several varieties.
As natives we adapt to our environment
Learned about the game when reading"Thé Dawn of Evertthing" from Graeber and Wengrow, you Will love this book
Mississippians trade networks made it all the way down to the Gulf of Mexico. I think these cultures interacted and shared more than we realize
Chino Native American not the original
Enough with your black bs.
