@@richardperaza5083 it was also completely outdated. How many people do you see wearing Bluetooth earpieces now? They wear wireless headphones which are an integration of all audio technologies. Back then, “Bluetooth” was literally just a way to talk on the phone. Voice commands weren’t even a thing back then. You couldn’t implant this in your ear and listen to music or tell your phone to set a reminder, it was purely a way to hear phone calls. Also there didn’t seem to be any microphone. So you’d still have to hold your phone close to your mouth for anyone to hear what you were saying.

The elephant in the room could be really good if it was marketed for children though. Like a way to let their parents know something is wrong or bothering them.
The only problem could be that some children might not know what that phrase means

For the bluetooth implant guy. My first thoughts were “How do you charge it!?” And the answer was way WORSE than i could’ve imagined...
Maybe stick your head onto a wireless charging pad overnight (even crazier, built it into a pillow).... sure you'll fry your brain too but it will be charged. xD

That's probably the worst thing. I believe every single second this lowercase-talking ass clown was dead serious with the pitch.
His attitude was basically "what, why are you objecting so much to having to stick a 15 cm needle into our ear every night while sleeping when you have least control of how your body moves? Stop objecting so much and being annoying, my test subje- I mean sharks."

For example those two (supposedly) doctors' online remote medical service is now basically Teladoc, a multi million (if not billion) dollar company. What counts to be a successful product is its execution, and not the BS pitch.

They take the money and multiply it by the percentage factor of 100 (not sure that's the exact term). Essentially 20% is 1/5 of a 100. Multiply 20% by 5 to get 100. Do the same to the dollar value and that gets what they think the company/product is worth.
The Sullivan generator should have been #1, the sheer amount of BS was legendary.

And it looks squished and very uncomfortable
No reason to buy their product. If someone loves their idea so much they just have to buy any stuffed elephant, keep it in a drawer and pull it out and put it on a table when you need to talk. Zero need to buy their specific product. Nothing special about theirs.

I saw another episode where a woman wanted to make personalize Face masks and the panel laughed said that there was no market for that kinda thing. I bet they wish they had given her the money Now this was in season 1 I think.

That logic doesn't make any sense because she was marketing to hospitals and such. Plus this was back in 2007-2008 so what was she supposed to do, say theres gonna be a world pandemic called covid 12 years from now and people will buy masks? She would've looked even more crazy. Bit because were in a pandemic now of course naturally people would think that because masks.
Funny thing is I beleive the most profitable business ever on here didn't get a deal. "Ring" Bought by Amazon and is in about every single store in the country.
Wrong country, there as always a market for this in Japan and Korea, maybe China as well. But of course that means there was already competition.

Reminds me of the Danish Shark Tank, called "The Lions Den" where a girl came in and pitched a great idea, for the lowest price of the whole season. Every lion was a fan of it, none of them invested in it. Minutes after she appeared, the site she sold them on broke down due to trafficking and is still struggling to keep up with the supply and demand. The lions really fucked up big time on that one

These pitches made it through, because they were entertaining, and made money for the show. It's lucrative to laugh at people on a personal level.
As a guy who always loved and grew up with cats and currently has 3. That cat licking thing (if it's not a joke) is the most perverted thing I've seen that wasn't overtly perverted. Those people are creeps, I wouldn't let them pet my cat haha

I'd agree with Barbara in the first one.. it's not worth the 1/2 a mil in funding, but working at a university I can confirm college students will buy almost anything.
Normally I buy the stuff that I would actually use, like music production software and equipment. I do not buy random things because that is just a waste of money.
If you want the real value of a product, do some research and figure out the math.

I have seen similar items to the 1st one on various RUclips clips and I think it's really good coz sticky notes just don't stick long enough, except on things like what that lady designed
Exactly and they aren’t obscuring your screen. If you write something on a post it and stick it to your screen then have to move it because it’s in the way, you can easily forget about it. They make ones that are magnetic too so you could stick anything to them. Maybe you have to enter some sort of receipt into your computer and you don’t want to hold it in your hand while you type the numbers in.

The throx guy, Edwin, is actually a genius. You only need to buy 2 packs of throx to get 3 pairs. He can either overcharge it or keep it low and affordable, which saves money.

I'm on the spectrum, and I have to say, although I wouldn't buy it, using a physical object like a toy elephant to convey emotion is a super-useful way for me to communicate with others. It is an idea that doesn't really require an actual item to sell, but it does give me at least something to consider for ways of expression. Some simple physical thing would make it simple for people round me to know my mood. My personality is honestly super-difficult to read, and I come off cold and uncaring.This is good idea,
Not diagnosed on the spectrum, but I was also thinking that exact thing for people on the spectrum or people who otherwise may have difficulty expressing themselves. At the very least it's a stepping stone to greater communication by making self-expression a little less daunting.

I’m going to be completely honest, something like that for autistic people or kids/adults with disabilities is a good idea. But if you’re the parent of a non autistic child and you seriously need them to use a stuffed animal to signal to you that something is wrong, you might just be a bad parent. Just pay attention and listen to them. You’re telling me you can’t tell if there’s an obvious change in their mood or behavior, but that you can scan their room daily looking for the octopus toy to see if it still has a happy face on??? why not just ask your kid what’s going on and if they’re feeling alright, on a somewhat daily basis?

the eyebloc idea is a good one, I would buy it because using a piece of tape is extremely inconvenient: you have to remove it when you need the camera which leaves a trace.
and there's nothing conspiratorial - you can join a meeting thinking your camera is off, while not being decent, only to find out half way into the meeting the camera's been on the entire time

what we've learned from this episode: it doesnt matter how good or bad your product is, if you have a good businessman/woman making the pitch
The sticky note holder isn't the worst idea ever. It's actual purpose, in my mind, was to give sticky notes a place to stick that didn't cause a ton of clutter.
They sell those on Amazon now for like $9. I have one and use it all the time. The thing is though, it’s not some business on Amazon that sells these and only these exclusively. They’re just mass produced and shipped off to online office supply stores and sold by them. I think the problem is it’s a bad pitch not a bad product. To start an entire business just to sell those things is sorta crazy. It’s not worth the amount she was asking to invest in it. It’s a useful thing to have but not something everyone needs. It just wouldn’t make that much money. But yeah it’s certainly not one of the worst products ever.

Squirrels are absolute menaces. It's not just that they eat a bit of bird food and go, they ransack the bird feeders and scare off any birds from coming around. When I was a child we tried so many things to keep them off, but they always found a way around. Eventually we just had to give up on the feeder. Also had them get in our attic for a while and they would scratch the attic floor (our bedroom ceilings) constantly, nearly drove us crazy. Another time one came down the chimney while we were out. Came home to all of the wooden windowsills having been chewed up, a bunch of stuff knocked over and a half eaten apple on my bed. That said, the squirrel invention is not great.
The cat couple both have crazy eyes. The lights are on, but nobody is at home... but the cats 😂

Okay but there was a similar product to the “elephant in the room” that was marketed much better. I forget the company name, but it was a nightstand light to say whether or not you’re in the mood. So if you come home and it’s green or red, you know what they’re thinking.
While both are no substitutes to just communicating, the elephant one seems a little childish. I think if it was used for families with young children, it might be better, or children to tell parents they’re upset.

#20 - If one is to keep post-its on their monitor or desk for an extended period of time, the adhesive starts wearing off.
So I start using tape.
If there is a product that replaces the adhesive or serves as a permanent substitute for it when the adhesive breaks down, I'd be for that.
Her product looks more organized and professional than a bunch of post-its taped everywhere.

The tidal force idea can make sense in some areas. It is much higher at high latitudes, and much lower the closer you get to the equator. Companies are already doing this. This is totally not worth it in tropical areas.

Its crazy to think that theses people, who are mostly not rich, spend money and time to go through all of the process of the business plan and the marketing and the price and the distribution etc. when its a clear, truly, terrible idea. At no point do they realize they wasting their time and money?
