I’ve been carrying a full size Walther P 99 AC for over 10 years now. No complaints whatsoever. It’s extremely accurate and I can’t remember having a malfunction at the range. I also have the PPQ but I prefer the Walther 99 AC. Don’t own the Canik and have never tried one. Another great video. Thanks for sharing.
I purchased a PPQ SC in 2018, put 8,000+ rounds thru it in 12-15 months. Besides having to replace a spring, I had zero issues. I sell pistols to try out different ones thinking that I can just buy another one if I regret selling it. I sold my PPQ SC which I regretted big time. They have become very hard to find. Right now there are none on gunbroker. Yesterday I swung into a local pawn shop and was shocked that they had a PPQ SC. I made sure to snatch it up. People who bash the plastic insert have not studied it in depth. I LOVE the design. The firing pin in PPQ SC is virtually indestructible, it is much more robust than regular PDP, PPQ, P99, or Canik firing pin. Massad Ayoob shot a 1” five shot group at 25 yards with the PPQ SC, that’s 4 MOA at 100 yards for a subcompact pistol. I will never sell this pistol again.
As always great job! The p99 as is an awesome forearm with a cult like following. The saying “if you know you know” definitely applies. Caniks are decent firearms but I feel they definitely fall just shy of Walthers. The barrels, stepped chamber, and trigger all lead to an easier to be accurate pistol. Want proof look at the groups in the opening sequence… both Walthers are just a little bit tighter😜
I carry a P99 or P99C most everyday. In the P99 I have both .40 and 9mm . Have never had a malfunction o f any kind . The 40 is from '97 or '98. As soon as they released the 40 I nabbed one . I love all my Walther pistols and own 10 of them. A glock isn't even close to being equal to a Walther. I'll trust my and my family's life to any of them everyday. I do own a Canik V2 that has been absolutely reliable too. But I'll still go Walther all day everyday.
I have a ppq m2 22lr. 5inch and would love it if you did a complete takedown and show how the hammer and firing pin comes out and back in.....can't seem to find an internal hammer-fired r&r video.
I've always been a Walther fan, It has always taken a back seat with Glock and Sig but, not everybody is financially fit to own them all to compare, great Vid....can't beat the Walther trigger in any model
Love my TP9 Elite SC. Very accurate, great trigger, it’s optics ready, a nice looking gun, and it handles 9mm like a larger gun. The Canik can handle the larger mags no problem
Funny, I’m looking to switch from a p365 to the P99c. Nothing wrong with the p365 I just prefer the P99c overall. I have had a full size P99 for years and loved it.
I've had the shield, hellcat and the canik... I'm going with the p99c if I can find one... That's the only gun with the small mag I feel like I have a sold grip and control. Fond one at the pawn shop but it's a p99c Q....
Why has no company made a pistol frame that can accept .22, 9mm, 40, 45 just by replacing the slide assembly? It seems like it could be done. Look at the SIG P250(now discontinued) it came chambered in .22, 380, 9mm, 40, .357 SIG and 45. Also, the FCU was DAO hammer fired which theoretically could be dropped into a carbine.
The Canik looks to have considerably more muzzle flip than the Walther 99c in the intro vid. I place my forefinger of my weak hand in a forward thumbs grip in front of the trigger guard to mitigate muzzle flip and does quite well at doing so on my Glock 26. The Glock 26’s slide is melted or more rounded in the front for ease of reholstering, whereas these sub compacts are not. No doubt these have a better trigger stock than a stock Glock 26 but after a “black ice disconnector”, and a 6kb trigger spring, it’s not bad.
The PPQ SC is 18 oz without the magazine inserted. You weighed it when you did a comparison of the P99C and the PPQ SC, and the PPQ SC with mag inserted was like 21.4 oz compared to 21.5 oz if the P99C. I might not like to say it but Canik might be the better decision. If I needed to replace a part on the Canik, they sell replacement barrels,, trigger bar, extractors, springs, magazines, ejector assembly, etc. are priced unbelievably low, and are readily available. Threaded barrels for $82.99?! They even offer a dryfire firing pin. Walther should be able to match Canik with parts availability and pricing
I own the Canik TP9 DA, which it's equivalent to the Walther P99. It is a magnificent clone of the P99. Totally reliable and very accurate. I don't have a Walther PPQ, but I do own a PDP Compact 4" barrel, and it is an absolute gem; one of my favorite handguns. Instead of the Canik TP9 SF Elite SC, I prefer the SF Elite 4.2" barrel. Well done review 👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼
It’s still easier to conceal the Canik with the 12 round mag and you can go up to a 15 rounder. Also the Canik has a much better trigger than the Glock
You're slightly wrong about the canik... The Original Tp9 was based on the P99-- That's why it had the "decocker" on top on the old one's -- and they were SA/DA.. it even uses different mags. The next model was TP9 SA -- which had started making changes away from SA/DA, but still used the P99 style slide-- and that's why it still had the de-cocker on the slide, but for no real reason, because that lower was striker fire only-- it didn't have the double action anymore. . But all of the more current iterations of the Tp9 and tp9 elite, SFX (and even the new mete's) , including the one you have-- are based off of the PPQ now--- If you look at the Canik's slide release, it is long and leveraged, just like the PPQ-- and I'm fairly certain that the Canik will use PPQ mags, but not the p99 mags.. (unless you have the very first tp9, which has different mags)......... That's also why the Elite and the SFX are known for having such a good trigger--- just like the PPQ does.. If you would have taken off all three slides and looked inside, it would have been much more obvious that the tp9 is a ppq clone, and no longer a p99 clone... Even now today, people are having trouble finding mags for the PDP--- so they are buying up Canik mags to use in their PDP; because it's simply a 2nd generation ppq, and the canik is a ppq clone-- so the mages work in all three pistols.
So why do you feel you shot better with the Walther's. You hand was moving all over the place with Canik. It needs white dot sights ? Better molded grip? Grip angle off from others- Walther's controlled recoil better because of that. Real ideas can allow to improve all. Nice video. Thks
I hate when they have everything in front of them and don't check. The canik mags looks like they'd work with a floor plate change when he had the all mags faced up.
Update. I found that the taurus g2c mags work with the tp9 elite sc. I just had to open up the mag catch hole to match the size of the canik mag and dremel the slide catch notch a couple mm deeper. Works perfect now
I wont buy a Walther with a Paddle release… Seems weird to have an Americanized European gun. Thats what made the paddle special. If people want a button get a Canik or Smith & Wesson… I prefer the paddle. It’s naturally ambi… Why mess with it?🧐

That P99's DA/SA trigger is still being used in the Canik TP9 DA line. It hasn't disappeared.

Nice, I own both and I like them equally

Great review! They all are very good choices. The P99c has been my go to for 7 years. However I’m considering going to a Shield Plus or P 365x.
Thank you.

There’s something about the P99 that does it for me. But I can’t find one 🥺

I'd just soon get a 19 as the canik. Canik looks big to me. Love the Walther

Good stuff
The Walther are soon but the Canik wins for me. Over 1500 rounds and not one malfunction.
you only favorite it because you don't have a Walther ppq sc. fact
Caniks based their triggers off the p99 they had one of the best triggers of the time
Nice

Is still possible to get P99c? I have full size but would like to get compact as ccw. Can't find it anywhere.
Canik, have 2 myself.
Has Canik designed anything themselves? Slapping an optics mount on a Walther design doesn't exactly count, imo.
No one ever compares the ease of racking the slide .
Which is Your favorite?
I’ll take the Walther PPQ over any
Agree 100% Doug,,,,excelent gun the PPQ.
I believe the P99 is safer to carry. The other two have fully cocked strikers, therefore single action guns.
PPQ wins!
Canik for the win 👍
Do the walther mags work in the canik?

I have waltherp22
Wow! You shot the h€// out of the P99C at the end.
Thank you.
Canik FTW!!!!
