Stumbled upon your videos by chance, clicked on it out of curiosity and was instantly hooked by everything you've made right now. I'm a huge fan of cosmic horror and Junji Ito and the mixing of it with a cozy-style farming game make a fun juxtaposition. Wishlisted immediately and can't wait to give it a whirl!

The speed at which you can create such wildly fun new areas and things keeps me absolutely feral. I'm always chomping at the bit for more, and you always provide! Hoping to see a Welcome to Elderfield mug someday!
I love the quirky elements like joggers club and Blorph that's so fun and gives the town so much character! Could you do more devlogs focused more on the games development like the challenges you face and how you overcome them I think I miss this part of how you acculy develop the game if that makes sense. I would genuinely love to see more of the process that goes into making this game like how do you do art, music or even code. Especially the art and design process that goes into it.
Totally agree with this. Especially the challenges you're finding with RPG Maker and how you're getting around them, because you've done an awesome job of that so far.
I love the art style and the mood this puts off, and will definitely be recommending this to a couple people. I will try to check in on this channel to see the progress, and hopefully help this spread a bit.
Elderfield is on my wishlist on Steam! I look forward to the next update for us non-Patreon players. Thank you for letting me know in advance that a future update will break saved files. I was planning on having all the cool stuff (Cursed Axe, fully upgraded utility stuff, Staff of Darkness, etc.) and upgrading to the new game. Knowing ahead that the update will break stuff will save me much weeping later.
I just found this game randomly in my discovery que- I'm. So very much in love with it, and I knew the second I heard the radio segments. You have something super special here, can't wait to sub to your youtube, wishlist this, and pick the demo apart!
Been following you for a bit but i finally wishlisted the game on steam now. Best of luck to you! (not that luck is the biggest factor in finishing a game, probably more likely that its skill, patience and stubbornness)
it might be cool to one day have character customization, nothing crazy, just hair color and length, maybe skin color, gender and clothes, too. nothing too crazy. and if that happens you can have a community contest to select what the dark lofi girl's house is like. and then have her be a tip character as if the early stages of the game development was following her stay at elderfield and your character is a new arrival which she decides to help out. and depending on what decoration contest winners there are, that's what her house, farm and maybe other things are like. thus making her seem like the scariest character if she has a flesh themed house or something, or maybe just unnervingly normal or something. sorry, i just had the idea and thought it might be cool to hear! i understand your vision is paramount
yay! Also have you considered adding voice acting to the project? I am sure if you put out a casting call voice actors would be more then happy to apply.
There are no plans for voice acting at the moment, as I want to keep it easy to add more dialogue to the game without any cost/time considerations. There will also thousands of lines of dialogue by the time the game is done, so voice acting would be far too expensive.
Just got recommended this game through Steam and I'm gonna wait it out until the full release. I do have a question: is there any player customization features planned? I am really liking what's here so far, but it'd be nice to see that added too.
atmosphere is really good, wish you could play as a male. The Kairo shout-out was sick and some of the artstyle reminds me of the manga Shibito no Koe wo Kiku ga Yoi!
The sprites are deliberately streamlined and mono-pose, as there are hundreds of them which all have multiple directions and animation frames, so they need to be something I can create in high volume by myself very quickly. One sprite is 12 frames, so to add different poses etc. would mean the creation of hundreds or even thousands of new sprites by the time the game is done, which wouldn't be realistic for a solo project. I may go back and tweak some when the game is nearly finished, but it is a low priority for now.
I don't really have an art page atm, but all the artwork I am doing lately is for the game anyhow. There is a bluesky account where I'll be posting more art etc. for the game: bsky.app/profile/elderfieldofficial.bsky.social
It looks cool, but there’s something I don’t get: why’s the general game pixel art, but the character portraits are drawn images with some kind of pixel filter? It seems like a kind of weird way to do that, and it reads like you’re intentionally or unintentionally using two different art styles rather than the portraits being a “more detailed version” of the pixellated characters.
I'm super hype for both the game and the devlogs, but my god man can you PLEASE dial back the volume of music in the videos? I can barely hear you over the moody dark lo-fi, and it makes for a very unpleasant listening experience.

That image is a mix of Junji Ito and "welcome to Night Vale". As a fan of both, I am interested despite farm sim not being my cup of tea. Impressive.
You cant fool me. This is just an accurate representation of the Midwest.
Ssssshhh. Don't give away our secrets.
A horror farming game is such a cool concept. The game look great i wish i could play it. **cries in console player**

DAMN! It's GENIUS!
Getting here now before it blows up and you become a multi-millionaire.
You've got something really, really cool here.
God this is so up my alley! Thank you RUclips recommendations
very cool take on the farming sim genre mate, keep up the good work! :)
Already liking the look and the vibe of the game
The Ito Junji style character screams "This is a horror game." Good choice!
I just found this game randomly in my discovery que- I'm. So very much in love with it, and I knew the second I heard the radio segments. You have something super special here, can't wait to sub to your youtube, wishlist this, and pick the demo apart!
Horror with a farming sim is a dream come true, Congrats and best of luck to you.
thank you so much for letting us romance a monster! this is like a dream come true
As a huge fan of your music, I'm so ready for this game
The steam page art looks great !!
Okay, fine. I'm intrigued. You got me.
I'll keep an eye on it!

Bless the algorithm. I tried the demo and really liked it, game wishlisted.

Oh hell yeah, blorph is just my type
Imseeing a rise of cosy spooky games ❤
This music reminds me of the ps2 hub ambiant music

It isn't planned at the moment, but it is still early in development, so who knows!
@WelcometoElderfield Thank you so much for answering! I'm really looking forward to the full release!
atmosphere is really good, wish you could play as a male. The Kairo shout-out was sick and some of the artstyle reminds me of the manga Shibito no Koe wo Kiku ga Yoi!
You can play as male or female
Your sprites are so lovely, yet stiff and personalityless. Contrapassoto and posing will be your friend
The sprites are deliberately streamlined and mono-pose, as there are hundreds of them which all have multiple directions and animation frames, so they need to be something I can create in high volume by myself very quickly. The subpixel animations are really great on the breathing. Will it stand to other characters or you want to keep in the mc to make it stand out more?
It will only be on the MC, mainly due to it being very time consuming to make that sort of animation.
Would genuinely love to follow a channel/blog of yours for art-related things, do you have any social media like that?
I don't really have an art page atm, but all the artwork I am doing lately is for the game anyhow. There is a bluesky account where I'll be posting more art etc. for the game: bsky.app/profile/elderfieldofficial.bsky.social
This might actually get me to stop playing Stalker
I'm amazed you managed to make such a cool game in such a terrible engine as RPG maker. I was honestly surprised when you mentioned it.
Limitations breed creativity!
What's the lofi track you have playing during the latter half of the video?
All of the music in the video is from the game's soundtrack. The last track is one of the town themes.
@WelcometoElderfield Is the soundtrack available for purchase anywhere?
@@Father_Wendigo Not at the moment, as it has a long way to go still, but it will be once the game is released
When you finish the whole game, can you please make it available on GOG?
I will certainly be looking into it!
I know its new but will there be any talk of putting it on console?
There are no plans for now, but if it sells super well, anything is possible!

That's the idea - they are two different art styles.
