Great video. I really wish I had gotten into moto touring / camping when I was younger. Instead, I've spent 50 years doing bicycle camping tours. It's interesting to see how much stuff you bring. I have to admit that most other bicycle tourists think I pack a lot. But, comfort on those overnight stays is just as important as comfort on the ride. A chair (very similar to yours), an AeroPress for my coffee, etc. .... You can see my ride setup in my profile pic. That was last summer when I was 71. Ha! I envy you the most for the uphill sections!
Thank you for sharing. I've motor camped since 1979 and done some long solo sea kayaking trips too. I put the toilet paper in a plastic bag, remove the cardboard and pull the paper from the center of the roll. Works well in heavy rain. I always used my clothes as a pillow and never brought a chair or a table before. Now I'm 66 and just bought myself a chair. I will bring a tarp too if I want to sit in my new chair when it's raining. Ride safe!
I roll my pillow and that just makes more sense to keep it nice and flat. Thanks for sharing that tire changing mat suggestion. WABDR trip would of been miserable with a hoodie, was one of the best suggestion on the puffy jacket. Keep’em coming Kyle. Always good to learn different ways to lighten my travel kit.
You’re almost certainly correct here. Sports stars teams that travel in relative comfort often take their own pillows. Years ago in the 80s when I did long motorcycle commutes and my share of stealth camping … I took my fair share of comfortable bedding including a pillow !
Picking up the inflater for my air mattress. Was trying to use my motorcycle tire pump, but its slow, and that thing gets hot. Works great on tires, not so good on air mattresses.
Thanks for the video. I am getting back into riding and camping and have been watching a few of these videos as being in my late 50's I don't need to be uncomfortable to enjoy the experience. Also thank for placing the links.

Great videos, as always. Going to do a BDR at the end of summer. Very informative. And by the way, cracking open an IPA is always the first I do after parking the bike in the camp spot and taking my helmet off. 😊
I carry most of what you mentioned when I go moto camping ⛺️ with my CBR1000RR. Including an axe and Agawa saw (for fire wood, not trail riding). I have a 47 litres Givi top box mounted where the rear seat would normally be. My tent is a Big Agnes Copper Spur HVUL 1. I also have a Kriega R25 just for a water bladder (3 litres). Nice kit. Some great ideas and products I’d like to adopt, particularly the tent and bivy. Ouse the same airpad and it’s a great balance between weight and comfort. Well put together video, thanks.
Great vid! On the way of gear, I have the identical bike (2020 GSA Exclusive) and I'm 5'7" so I got the lower seat and wear higher boots to cope with having short legs. Very helpful video. I've been watching your videos on and off now for the last two years now and your quality and delivery continue to improve. Thanks for all the hard work. Seems you get so much packed into those paniers! Do you pick up your meals every day before camping down?
I try to carry a couple freeze dried meals as back ups, but generally try to stop at a store as I go though towns for fuel before heading to a camp spot. There are some great freeze dried meals out there, but it’s hard to beat camp cooking.
Gonna comment again not only to help the algorithm but to tell ya I’m officially starting my first ADV trip on the 10th! So lemme know if you have time in the following 3 weeks for a trip! It’s likely gonna be a shitshow for me because I’m just getting into this sport so a tiny bit of advice from a veteran would be greatly appreciated buddy!
Love this vid. I’ve been wondering what sleeping bag that was so I’ll check them out. I managed to pick up a big Agnes copper spur hv UL3 bike packing tent at a sale here in Montana. Didn’t want to go 3 person but I like the concept and it was the only one available. Got it for 30% off! I’m fairly certain they’re a lot like the tiger wall. Looking forward to heading up there to (hopefully) do the IDBDR and maybe meet you along the way. Do most people go north to south or vice versa? I’d like to go the way most people do to have the opportunity to meet fellow adv riders.
Nice packing video. I have the same mattress - the inflator bag works well but that pump would be great to have. Big Agnes makes great stuff - I’d like to add a Bike Pack sized tent because my Moto Tent is just too big. Now if I could figure out how to shrink my stuff down from the 75 pound pack that I just had out 😂

Any thoughts from experience would be great. Wife wants to be part of the experience, so want to work up to trips that involve camping.
Just subbed, working my way through your channel. Just wondering though why you don’t have a multi fuel stove on your travels as you could use the gas from your bike in a push ! Once you run out of canister gas , your stove is useless to you. Just a thought from a motorcycle camper from England . Best wishes to you….Cameron
Great question. I do actually have one, but it is very rare that I am somewhere that does not have the ability to purchase other ones along my route. Not to mention one small fuel canister for what I do in the type of cooking I do in life meme easily 10 days to two weeks.
Another great video. I can see your voice is off a little bit, kind of reminds me of the old Godzilla movies with the japanese people speaking english. Lol. Looking forward to seeing that grill in action!
Thanks for sharing all this! I have the Mosko Moto reckless 80 system, with a 22L tail bag that I carry my sleeping gear in, however, I'm having trouble finding a sleeping bag/quilt system that packs down small, even with compression sacks. Every sleeping bag I've bought has taken up a lot of room in my bags. You have the link to the system you use and does it pack down small?
Thanks for watching. Here is the link. It’s the smallest sleeping bag/quilt I’ve carried. Packs down to smaller than a volleyball. Maybe 8 inches across. www.avantlink.com/click.php?tt=cl&merchant_id=87fe4cfb-c921-4815-b863-cb401349a9d8&website_id=9f6d70e6-feab-4eeb-a806-fe324011ce80&url=https%3A%2F%2Fzenbivy.com
@@lawrencearabia9345 I’m not that familiar with the pack size of the disco 20, however, these zinbivy packs down to continue smaller than a volleyball in the provided stuff sack. I would say maybe 8 inches in diameter. It is by far the most comfortable sleep system I have ever used.
Kyle, quick question. Have you lowered your GS? I’m the same height as you and have been riding my F 800 gs unmodified in height outside of the seat concepts lowered seat I put on it. I’m on my tip toes when coming to a stop. Never had an issue when moving just when I’m coming to a stop. Especially off camber. Been looking at getting a 1250 gs. I’m a few decades plus older than you. Don’t know how much more serious off roading I’ll be doing as I’m getting a new hip soon. Just finished the MABDR yesterday afternoon. Interested to see where all you take your gs
No, I have not lowered it. I did just recently get a lowered seat from seat concepts, I haven’t really had any issues with the height. I’m kinda like you and I’m on the balls of my feet when stopped.l before the seat. The GS is nice though because you can actually put it in low mode and lower the suspension down where I am actually flat footed. I rarely use this feature though unless I am in town or in stop and go traffic because you do lose quite a bit of ground clearance.
@@backcountryadvmoto Just the kind of info I’ve been looking for. I’m going to Alaska from NC summer of 2025. Going all the way to prudhoe bay. Love my f 800 but it’s not the most comfortable bike when doing 10-12 hour days in the saddle.
Nope, I’ve camped in Montana and North Idaho more times than I count and I’ve never had a problem with Bears. Moose on the other hand have come into my camp a few times. I carry a firearm and occasionally carry bear spray, but I know guys who have had bear spray go off in their panniers or burst when the bike goes down. Plus from my military and LE experience bear spray is just an large version of pepper spray and depending on the wind, can also hurt the user and trust me, that’s not something you wanna add when trying to defend a bear. Just my 2 cents
@backcountryadvmoto I get your position, and truly respect individual choice. I carry both. One reason I carry a bear AND critter proof bag is that I have had my food compromised by both bears and little gnawing critters. Several times. I don't want to wake up to my food with holes in every packet.
Thank you for the beautiful video. I want to give you advice, which is that the successful motorcycle channels that make a high percentage of viewers always about traveling and transportation from one place to another, and you live in America and its a big country , vast and beautiful country, and there are many states in it, and now you own a BMW R1250 with Big Gas Tank , Fully equipped, Primarily intended for long travel and long distances. I advise you to kill two birds with one stone, to travel and see new places and make more experience and Get more views .
I try to stay clear of rivers while moto camping as it is a prime place for bears and other wild animals, unless a firearm or bear spray is being carried, regardless of local laws.

Some might go for top of the line side saddle bags but in my multiple 1980s 1,000 miles plus 2 day commutes in Australia, I had a couple of cheap old army disposals hessian bags that did the job nicely. I did make sure I had a comfortable sleeping bag, though, and because it was not cold weather I could get away without a mattress, just pitch the tent on soft ground. After travelling all day, I was so tired it didn’t matter where I was. Did my share of what is known today as stealth camping.

nice video, thanks for showing. how are these pants named you are wearing?
They are the Mosko Moto Woodsman pants
curious on your thoughts regarding the zinbivy looking to get smaller I have the nemo disco 20 bag how would you compare? Stay on the throttle
OK so I grabbed a beer and almost got fired.
Turns out my boss doesn't like it when I drink and watch RUclips at work
😂. That’s too bad
Great ideas , thanks
Do you have a link to your handlebar bag?
Great video!
Hey what size bags are you using from mosko to fit all that?

Just the kind of info I’ve been looking for. I’m going to Alaska from NC summer of 2025. Going all the way to prudhoe bay. Love my f 800 but it’s not the most comfortable bike when doing 10-12 hour days in the saddle.
Where can you buy that beer
Good stuff, thanks buddy!
Any time!
Im fairly certain that poop trowel had a poop logo under the Mosko lizard
Hey Sir, what pants are those that you are wearing during this video?
great channel
thanks....nice information
Tenkara! Sweet
Love your videos. From malaysia 👍
Very good, very helpful
Glad it was helpful!
No bear spray or bear bag in Montana?
Nope, I’ve camped in Montana and North Idaho more times than I count and I’ve never had a problem with Bears. Moose on the other hand have come into my camp a few times. I carry a firearm and occasionally carry bear spray, but I know guys who have had bear spray go off in their panniers or burst when the bike goes down. Plus from my military and LE experience bear spray is just an large version of pepper spray and depending on the wind, can also hurt the user and trust me, that’s not something you wanna add when trying to defend a bear. Just my 2 cents
@@backcountryadvmoto What firearm do you carry? THAT would make an interesting video!
@backcountryadvmoto I get your position, and truly respect individual choice. I carry both. One reason I carry a bear AND critter proof bag is that I have had my food compromised by both bears and little gnawing critters.
Several times. I don't want to wake up to my food with holes in every packet.
Wait... who makes the pillow?
Here ya go

Amazing
Thanx4post
If you use silkys you know. Thumbs up
Seems to me you would be happier riding a harley to the bar.
Thanks for watching
I try to stay clear of rivers while moto camping as it is a prime place for bears and other wild animals, unless a firearm or bear spray is being carried, regardless of local laws.
You’re much much MUCH more likely to crash on your motorcycle than get mauled by a bear. Don’t let fear stop you from enjoying the wild.
No firearm ?
Why? I've been from Arctic Finland to the Sahara on dirt bikes, and never once felt the need for a firearm. What are you planning on shooting?
You forgot the tequila 😢
Not sure if it's just me, but your video and audio are out of sync.
You and one others have mentioned it, but I don’t see it on my end
@@backcountryadvmoto It's not until 2 minutes in.
It's the same for me as well
@@harryhartley1466 I’m not showing it at all on several different devices I tried I reached out to RUclips and they responded with “RUclips audio and video being out of sync is usually caused by latency issues between the user's device and the RUclips server”
@@backcountryadvmoto NP... its a good video. Just thought you would want to know. I consume large amounts of youtube motorcycle videos. This is the only one. Not sure why? Perhaps it has something to do with where regionally in the Google cloud it is hosted. In any case. Nice video. Thanks. I actually made purchases using your links.
Going to be honest have serious doubts on all these channels. All and I mean all of his gear looks either brand new or hardly used. I know what all my moto gear looks like after just a year of use.
You need to look back at all of my past videos. I’m willing to bet I spend 100 or more days in the woods a year camping. I just take care of my shit. 😂
Everything but the puffy jacket😔
I just wanna know one thing…what do you tell the wife so you can take off on these solo moto camping trips? I need the secret, man. For the love of God give it up. Look, I’ll pay ya for it, wtf!
Hahaha I have a good wife for sure. She understands that it’s something I need every now and then to get my head right and reset 👍🏻

expensive bags
Some might go for top of the line side saddle bags but in my multiple 1980s 1,000 miles plus 2 day commutes in Australia, I had a couple of cheap old army disposals hessian bags that did the job nicely.
I did make sure I had a comfortable sleeping bag, though, and because it was not cold weather I could get away without a mattress, just pitch the tent on soft ground. After travelling all day, I was so tired it didn’t matter where I was. Did my share of what is known today as stealth camping.
