    Things I do like, has big, but not crazy big tires and wheels. Has fenders. Like the kickstand. Has a mid drive motor. Has two burly batteries in the right places. Like the integrated lights. Would prefer if they just gave me hookups so I could plug my own light choice in. Offered their light choices as an option. Like that front rack, very Paris-Dakar. Style is important. Would like some color choices.

    Sooooo Jealous you get to ride great bikes and accessories from Tern. My Quickhaul was ordered with 500Wh battery because I just like to go where I want. It isn't hard to manage range anxiety but with the Orox it wouldn't even be a thought. I use my bike for almost everything I can and some things are a compromise but this Orox goes a big step further.

    I like, but am also worried about the length. We purchased and mounted the most burly e-bike oriented Kuat bike rack designed for ebikes. My Day 6 still seems too long for the rack. Being able to move the bike to the riding destination might be a problem?

  • @TonyTapay
    @TonyTapay 6 месяцев назад +2

    My only quibble is that it should have headtube rack mounting points for a rack that doesn't turn with the front wheel. They've become pretty standard on cargo bikes and this one should definitely have them. Otherwise, this is the cargo ebike I didn't know I wanted.

    On attends ce nouveau Tern avec impatience. Le GSD avait des roues trop petites qui rendait le confort parfois rudimentaire. Question : est il toujours possible de le faire tenir droit debout comme le cargo GSD ? c'est très pratique quand on habite en ville pour le monter dans l'ascenseur ou bien le stocker dans un coin sans qu'il ne tienne de place.

The fact I live 15 blocks from ocean beach and the idea crossed my mind if I could ride in the beach to be away from all the cars (not that I would want to do anything to crazy either with my little one in the back), and lastly because I like the tech feature the orox has, similar to the HSD which I wish the GSD had as well.

    I am extremely disappointed in Tern electric bike. I own a Tern vektron D7i. I rarely used it and still look brand new (4 yo). The battery (Bafang M400 drive) no longer works. I reached out to local dealers and was informed they can’t get a hold of that battery. I reached out to Tern themselves, spoke with Josh and was informed they no longer contract with that battery company. He told me i have to change out the whole battery system for over $900 plus cost to have tech install it. The bike was not cheap to begin with and a short 4 years later i am slap with this high cost. Ridiculous! I was desperate and agreed to buy the system. He said he will have to get back to me. I did not get the response yet. Will not buy tern product again. Update: Tern responded and offer to sell the battery package for $750. I think i am just going to toss it.

    The 29' models seem to the more versatile... but only the "fat" versions will be available in France ( 😡 )
    Otherwise, Orox is, in my opinion and according to characteristics sheet, the best longtail ebike. As a cargo bike, it remains not as practical as long john models.
    Comparative with R&M Load, on logging roads, could be very interesting.

    This looks like such a no-brainer, until you see the price. Tern is banking on hitting the holy grail sweet-spot with this bike, and they are banking that consumers will pay for it.
    Sadly, I won't. Like so many, many, many other people, I will resort to buying a much cheaper bike, and living with the shortcomings.
    The Specialized Globe Haul LT gets kinda close to this level of utility (minus the off-road abilities), and it does so for nearly half the cost.
    The Tern Orox is to cargo bikes what the Bugatti Veyron is to supercars - technically great, but priced above the normal user, especially in the U.S.
    Sad.
