    This was the first CD I have purchased in about 20 years. After listening to it the past couple days, almost on a loop, I can why it makes just about every list of must own audiophile CDs.
    This is a must own, if you want to truly test your system’s capabilities!

    Luckily, the speakers and the packaging arrived in perfect condition.
    Quality - 8.5
    These are extremely well built speakers. The cabinets feel rock solid. The gloss black is as good as speakers costing many times more and the components are all top-notch. For this price point, Klipsch knocked the build quality out of the park.
    If I was going to complain about the quality of these speakers, the area they are lacking is the binding posts. They just aren’t up to the level of the rest of the speakers. Klipsch should take notes from Fluance.
    Sound - 9.0
    Like the numerous other reviewers out there have said, these are very fun speakers. I love the peaks and the depths this speaker is capable of achieving.
    The efficiency is most likely a little over stated, at 96 dB but they are easy to drive. They are capable of producing enormous sound, with deep bass even with lower watt amps.
    The one gripe that I have is that they aren’t as smooth sounding as other speakers, like the Monitor Audio RS1 speakers I reviewed.
    MSRP Rating - 8.5
    These are no doubt a bargain at the MSRP price of $695. Are they the best deal out there? Not quite sure but they are definitely in the running, when compared to the other mid-level bookshelf offerings.
    If you don’t opt for the more expensive gloss cabinets, these can be had for $549 at MSRP. At that price, they are a great deal and especially if you get them on sale.
    Aesthetics - 9.5
    I absolutely love the looks of these speakers. There’s just something that I’ve always loved about the Klipsch copper woofers, I’ve probably owned 50+ pairs.
    The gloss black cabinets were a massive upgrade over the RP-160M “ebony” finish. The mixture of the colors and the substantial cabinet size makes them a wonderfully appealing speaker to my eyes.
    Price Paid Value - 8.5
    Buying these speakers at $435 brand new, from an authorized dealer is a great deal. This deal can’t compete with the killer used deals that I’ve gotten over the years but it still scored quite well, since this was about as low as I’ve seen the gloss black, ever sold for.
    Killer deal!
    Average Guy HiFi Rating - 44/50 = 88%
    Final Thoughts -
    As my subscribers already know, I use my money to buy these speakers. I did tons of research before buying them and they definitely met/exceeded my expectations.
    I listen to these daily and just love them, every time I fire them up.
    Are they the best bookshelf speakers I have ever owned, no, they aren’t. Are they an absolute bargain!

    A lot of people complain about the harsh treble. I use an Audio Source ( Ferris Beuller) EQ with pink noise to tune my room to as flat as possible and high-pass at 80Hz with a powered sub for the deep lows. Problem solved! Excellent, exciting, sound. Very dimensional and wide soundstage.

    Hi Dustin! New subscriber here! Great review! This is a fantastic speaker! The fact that most impresses me is the dynamics, punch, bass speed and clarity they have. It's like I removed the veil I had with my previous speakers (Bose 301 V series). This is a totally different speaker and blows the Bose away in every aspect. I know it's not a fair comparison but it's the only one I can make. Music came to life. I have never experienced music this way before. I hear new things in songs that I've played forever and that gives a refreshing and very satisfying experience each time I enjoy listening to them. I have RP600Ms (in beautiful piano black finish) and also the previous model the RP160Ms (ebony). Both are really great and I got them in excellent Amazon offers. To this day I can say both models sound pretty much the same, only that the RP600Ms have had so much more hype. I love their desing and looks without the grilles. Powering them with Yamaha AS801 and Cambridge audio CXA80 (I had a great deal on this amp in the refurb. Cambridge audio ebay offers, the unit doesn't have a single scratch, it was like buying a new unit for less than half the original price).
    Both the Yamaha and the Cambridge Audio are great amplifiers. I listen mostly vinyl and cds. I hope someday I can afford some Klipsch Heritage Series! Happy listening and keep up the great work!!!!

I was gifted a Marantz NR 1200 by my wife for my birthday in November and thought these would be a nice upgrade to the 30-year-old pair of MIssion bookshelf speakers I've been using. Gonna pick them up while still on sale at $439 for the piano black.

    I really wish you had more space! I wish you could review some old time BIG speakers! There were so many back in the 70's, 80's, that could blow most of the new little book shelf speakers out of the water! No matter what their price! You just can't get the same sound out of a little bookshelf that a 3 ft. cabinet with a 15" woofer can! With technology they have been able to give a synthetic sound (and some very good) - but if you play them side by side - you can definitely hear the difference! I know - I've tried! I also realize the extra work it would involve! Anyways - just my two cents worth! Keep up the videos - you are my new favorite!!

    I got the B100 solely because they were $79 at klipsch.com; they scream at you and the bass is just a big bump at around 100 Hz, my guess. I know those are cheap and surely these are better spkrs. but I have always been weary of metal tweeters, and when you combine them with horns, well, can't expect them not to sound harsh.

      Thanks! I haven’t owned t RP-500m’s so I can’t compare them to the RP-600m’s.
      With that said, I’ve owned many Klipsch speakers with 5.25” woofers and I think stepping up to the 6.5” version is usually worth the investment. This is especially true since you are running these speakers in a 2.0 fashion. You will really appreciate the extra depth the larger woofer/cabinet offers.

    My experience has been mixed, largely because they continue to be excessively bright and fatiguing in the upper mid range, even with an all tube system (including a tube DAC) in a relatively well damped room. I’ve read they need many hours of break in to mellow that tweeter. I’m kind of regretting I didn’t buy something a bit mellower, used, or perhaps bought something from a smaller maker like Ascend Acoustics.

    • @blazermdx
      @blazermdx  4 года назад +2

      The more audio reviews I read, the more I believe we have very different listening preferences.
      I have owned speakers that we’re supposed to be bright and they sounded subdued and vice versa.
      I wouldn’t call these subdued by any means but I also don’t think they are too bright in my room. I’ve really been enjoying them, even when compared to the ML Source speakers that I am currently comparing them to.
      With all of that said, life’s too short to try to force yourself to be happy with a purchase. If I was in your shoes, I’d order a comparable Ascend Acoustics speakers and compare them in your room.

    Good review. I enjoyed it but, "demo-ing" is a waste of time. Additionally, results are extremely subjective. I saw a bit of room treatment on your front wall but, you might have spent more time discussing listening environments, which dramatically affects one's listening experience.
    These are wonderfully affordable speakers and I love my RP-600M (PB). But, I originally bought them only to replace my awful TV sound bar. Incidentally, I also purchased a Wiim Amp to power them and the final results exceeded my expectations.
    I would like to point out that you were correct on one point, the RP-600s, as any other speaker, seem to sound fuller and more spacial with higher-end equipment.
    I was also curious how they would compare to my Magnepan LRS+. So, before I connected the RP-600Ms to the Wiim Amp, I thought I would temporarily listen to them via Tidal, a Bluesound Node streamer and, powered by my Emotiva XDA-2 Preamp/DAC and the Emotiva BasX A2, amplifier. Incidentally, my home's floor plan is an "open" floor plan so, I had to be especially mindful of sound bleed-over into the rest of my home.
    My home's main listening room is a carpeted 17m X 20m with curtains and leather furniture, which provide sufficient sound absorbtion. I initially placed the RP-600s 2m apart, 2 ft. from the front wall, and a deliberate toe-in, (which I later moved a bit out). My 'sweet spot' chair is approximately 4m away. I powered it up and put on Emannuel on Chris Botti's, Live in Boston...WOW! I was VERY impressed by the details, not bright nor harsh. I then switched to Black Sand by Andrea Razzauti...BOOM! No, they don't come close to my magnificent Maggies. If you have the "right" room setup and you listen to classical, jazz or similar, the Maggies, at $1K (shipped to home) are incredible!
    In conclusion, I am very happy with the purchase :) BTW, they also sound great powered by my Wiim Amp (great product) and my RUclips Music is candy for my ears! Take care, LG

    Can anyone tell me the difference between these and the b&w 606? Deciding between the two and money isn't a factor, just sound quality.

    • @blazermdx
      @blazermdx  4 года назад +1

      Unfortunately, I don’t have any experience with the B&W 606 speakers but reading through the specs, I would imagine they sound pretty darn good.
      Is there anyway for you to audition them? Sound is so subjective that that’s definitely the best way to make sure you make the right decision.
      I love the fact that you opened the question to everyone. I hope someone stops by that can give you better, real world experience, since I’m not able.

      Average Guy Hi-Fi Thanks! I’m not too familiar with all the spec talk but I know i’ll be using an old 90’s Onkyo Receiver for now that’s 90 watts and I hear that the klipsch still sound good on low powered amps. If that’s true I’ll probably get the Klipsch

    • @blazermdx
      @blazermdx  4 года назад

      Klipsch makes very efficient speakers and Onkyo is known for putting out good power.
      What model Onkyo are you going to be using?

    • @ballingit
      @ballingit 4 года назад

      Average Guy Hi-Fi Onkyo Tx-SR674. I like the look of the bowers more but everyone says klipsch and bowers have two different sounds which is unfortunate because they don’t have the rp600m in store to demo. But they do have the rp500m so I’m hoping that it’s close enough for me to make a good decision

    • @blazermdx
      @blazermdx  4 года назад +1

      balingit The 500M should give you a very good representation of the Klipsch Reference Premier sound signature.
      Yes, B&W and Klipsch do sound different, especially previous years. It seems they actually sound closer than most people think, with the crossover changes both companies have been making recently.
      If I were in your shoes, I’d probably reach out to your local audio shops and see if they would let you A/B the Bowers and the 500M’s, so you can make the most educated decision.
      The good news is that both brands make wonderful sounding speakers so this is a good dilemma to be in. My advice is to have some fun with it:)

    I’m trying to decide on either the rp-160m or the rp-600m you talked about the 160’s in your review. Maybe you can help me decide

    • @blazermdx
      @blazermdx  3 года назад

      To be totally honest with you, I don’t remember there being a big difference between the two speakers.
      I know the 600M comes with the new vented tweeter but the frequency response is identical. I like the cabinets of the 600M more, as they don’t have that angled plinth and they are available in gloss black but those are definitely subjective points.
      I would probably just go with whichever one is cheaper, if I were shopping.
      I hope that helps a little. Thanks for asking!

      @blazermdx  Год назад

      That’s a good question! I’ve considered buying one of their kits, to modify my RP600M but ultimately decided against it, since I’ll likely sell them off.
      The measurements show a substantially better rounded speaker, once the GR Research modifications have been done.
      Great topic, thanks!

    Would these be ok in a media wall? Or will the rear port be a deal breaker? If so, what would be a good alternative speaker? Looking to use with turntable and possibly tv.

    • @blazermdx
      @blazermdx  4 года назад +1

      I wouldn’t say that the rear port is a “dealbreaker”, knowing that they will be right up against a wall but they were definitely designed to have space left behind them.
      If I had to put them up against a wall, I might be in the search for some RB-61’s, which were the Klipsch Reference bookshelf speakers the RP-160 and the RP-600M’s replaced. They are front ported so they might be a better option.
      Elac also has a couple front ported bookshelf speakers along with Definitive Technology, which used passive radiators.
      Is against the wall your only option for placement?

    What do you think about using these as surround sound with RP8000F?

    • @blazermdx
      @blazermdx  3 года назад

      As your main surrounds or as surround back? They would work for either, honestly but I’d probably do with RP-250S for surround back, since they are designed to “spread” sound out more. If you have the room to run these as your main surrounds, these would work wonderfully with RP8000F’s.
      I ran 4 RP-160’s (very similar to the 600M’s) and RP-450C in a smaller system. I used 2 of the 160’s as surrounds and the other two as mains. Sounded very good!

    How do the 600m sound compared to the 160m? Worth upgrading?

    • @blazermdx
      @blazermdx  3 года назад +1

      The 600M is a tad more laid back, vsbthe 160M, but it’s not enough of a difference to make the change in my opinion. They are very close to each other but both are great.
      Now if you go used and the swap doesn’t cost you all that much, it might be worth it to you if you find the 160M’s to be a tad too bright. Otherwise the 160M is a fine speaker.

      I will likely keep them stock though, as I really don’t hang onto gear all that long and I would want the new owner to decide if they want to
      Modify them or not.
      Thanks for posting, I’ll definitely read more into his kit. Cheers!

      I’m considering that but that adds a couple hundred dollars to this speaker just to correct it. It should not need correcting, and yet it has a lot of buzz. Perhaps people just like this sound or perhaps midrange accuracy is below people’s radar? I don’t know.

      It’s getting a little expensive, buying this many speakers so I need to save as much money as possible. Haha
