My favorite bluegrass band is Flatt and Scruggs, by far. But running second are these gentleman, have liked them for 40 years. They are obviously all great musicians but I really liked Charles, sure miss him.
IMO the two greatest bluegrass flatpickers were Clarence White and Charles Sawtelle. Why? Their lead and rhythm were unpredictable and jaw-drop surprising. Not your typical linear "da da da da da" flatpicker. RIP CLARENCE AND CHARLES.
My parents never missed Hot Rize @ Telluride Bluegrass festival. I wasn’t allowed to go because it was surprisingly untamed and they saw people having sex and doing hard drugs in the park. 😆. I miss Telluride before it became a vacation spot for the filthy rich.
Greatest band ever. RIP Charles, thank you for that guitar playing.
No disrespect to the dead but I’ve never been awestruck by his picking. Am I missing something?
@@Bluelightcheaphotel yes, are you a musician or a listener?
Hot Rise is and always have been top notch!! Sure miss Charles Sawtelle
This is the epitome of Hot Rize, so young, so talented, so having fun with the music. Charles/Slade 💔
Look at these handsome young men. Awe Charles, so good to see you again.

This is so bomb. Best thing I've seen in a long time. Hot Rize is one of the best bands of all time.
One of my favorite Hot Rize songs. Outstanding.
Is is awesome. I saw Mr. O'Brien perform this with Phish at Red Rocks. His voice was so powerful!!!!!
Charles Sawtelle was so different from the rest of the guitar world. Always exciting, a little weird, and straight to the point.
The late Charles Sawtell doing his best Caeser Chavez imitation.

Yeah man! Lay down that groove!!
Tim is the very best!
Wonderful guitar by Charles Sawtelle, who died much too early.
North West String summit at Hornings Hide out in 2002 west of Oergeon I rode a Grey Hound for over 30 hours to make it from Las Vegas wow worth it

I love USA 🇺🇸
Nepoleon Dynamite is a really good singer!
Wow! Waldo with both hair and a mustache. Haha
Charles Sawtelle!
Bryan Kimsey...yeah...body gaurd, hit man and pie eating contest winner, all wrapped in one! Charles!!!!
@@hankwhitley222 Really? Wow! LOL
I love Hot Rize (and Martha White flour) but never cared for Charles Sawtelle's playing. Brian Sutton rocks though.
Wow! Telluride?
Definitely Telluride

Wow, Tim is about 25. Sawtell's guitar was the best. It's ALL Good!
looks like bluegrass fans don't push the "like" button much.
Randy should have stayed with this. There are artists/band owners in bluegrass earning $100K.
Back when they had hair
God I almost forgot how bad Pete Warnick sucks
