    When Train 45 kicks in, it hits me harder than bourbon at 2am. That’s some insane musicianship right there!

    From the very first note their timing was tight as hell.
    Men at the top of their game right there.
    Brings a smile to my face everytime I listen to it. Love it!!

    As a bluegrass bassist this video speaks to me on a spiritual level. The guitarist whispering chord progressions to you between tunes, instinctively telling the band leader you know the song when asked, quite obviously shaking your head no when he turns back around, the face at 3:26 when a break is tossed on you, looking around frantically in the middle of the kickoff for someone to tell you the key, hoping to god nothing weird happens harmonically while you just pray that we stay on the I chord for awhile, watching the guitarists hand intently....
    If you've ever wondered what it's like to play bass in a bluegrass band, this is it.

    • @dobroanjo
      @dobroanjo 6 лет назад +3

      He knows the chords fine this song is simple not sure what you mean every bluegrass player knows it especially paul

    • @samuelbarham8483
      @samuelbarham8483 5 лет назад +3

      @@dobroanjo I mean, watch the beginning of the video -- Chris whispers some instructions to Paul -- presumably, key, chords, song structure -- Paul nods yes, and as soon as Chris turns back around, Paul shakes his head "no" at the audience. :) We've all been there. Of course Paul's fine, because you're absolutely right, it's a super simple song.

      Tony. He should know the key and chords. It's what they just played only sped up. lol. You make a good point though. Sometimes ya just gotta hang on for dear life! ty

    The Punch Brothers are even loved and adored by teenagers who do not realize that they are __BLUEGRASS. In fact, my granddaughter said on Twitter that all she wanted was all the Punch Brothers recordings to make her happy. She's a senior in high school. The person who told me about The Punch Brothers and The Sleepy Man Banjo Boys is a DJ and Producer in Denver, Colorado. Her husband is in Germany. Prayers would be appreciated for Ramona & Gerald.

    My guess is that he's gotten so good that the stuff he plays on stage is the stuff he's comfortable with. So what sounds like amazing stuff to us is just "Meh, no big" stuff to him. I'm pretty sure flies on the wall of his practice space drop dead when they hear some of the stuff he plays then.
