      @@atlantisfreediving finally I could get used to it and started doing it Head up and head down and in a comfortable way. It took me more than continuous 12 hours of practice till I had my throat infected😅😅, however I can start my next step in practicing the hands free equalization. Big thanks 🙏🙏🙏

    Very difficult. Would you have any exercises or movements to work on to get the soft palate to relax in this position? No problem breathing out ouf mouth and nose at the same time, but no luck with the balloon. Air is just stuck.... Help!

    • @atlantisfreediving
      @atlantisfreediving  3 года назад +2

      Yes, it can be very easy for some and the same very difficult for others, but practice will make it perfect. My advice would be to shift your attention to your tongue and try to relax your tongue and especially back of the tongue, which often supports soft palate to go to the locked position. Try it and let us know how it is going, good luck! :)

      @@atlantisfreediving Thanks for the tip - I finally managed to do it 2 or 3 times yesterday evening, but still a lot of work.
      I'm pretty sure it's the back of tongue, as you mentioned. I learned to Frenzel for scuba a few years back, so with a big mouthpiece in my mouth, and was doing this everyday for years, which means I naturally block with the back of the tongue, I think this is probably the issue.
      Tking a full breath in and locking my glottis, I can keep the air in the lungs with my mouth open, and move the soft palate up and down ( see the uvula going up and down in a mirror), but when I do the same up/down movement with the balloon in my mouth, the air doesn't go anywhere most of the tine.
      Since the palate is moving up and down with glottis closed or open, this probably means the back of my tongue is blocking the air flow when my glottis is closed in a way it doesn't when the glottis is open and I switch from nose to mouth while exhaling.
      Taking it from there, I started working with full lungs, balloon in mouth, and trying to snore. It was still blocked, but I opened the glottis for a micro exhale (from the lungs) and the air started flowing out of my nose, stopping when the balloon was empty (hence not coming from the lungs). Very suprising to feel the balloon's air pressure at the back of the throat btw.
      I'll try to work on this some more! Thanks again
      B

      This sounds like your soft palate could be closing. Try to make the exercises for soft palate control, head down, on your bed or table, have someone hold your legs :)

    Glotis is not involved at all in this process. Is the vocal folds that prevent air flow to lungs , NOT the glotis .

      @@atlantisfreediving i can do the frenzel now, i figured it out. do you think its bad to practice frenzel on dry land? I practiced it many times and had some temporary ear pain for a few hours.

    • @atlantisfreediving
      @atlantisfreediving  2 года назад

      @@whitedime That's great, congratulations! It is ok to practise on dry land, however you do need to take breaks and be careful not to push very very hard. Your tympanic membrane could get micro damage from being stretched so often and get infected. You can try to practise hanging head down of the side of the pool. To check of it is working 💪
