Question : once I created my proxies assets, can i get rid of the original non-proxy file of the model without impacting qulity ? I'm new to 3ds and don't understand well yet how exactly a proxy works.

Frame Talks similar as we change normal materials..? But then we have to make proxy file again..?
If the model is same than you can apply same material on it.
How to edit material with proxy model..
Just pick it and chage material but you have to apply before covert proxy
