- Are you one of those people who have been very confused by the whole Raessah-Khan-lying-in-parliament saga? If yes, you’ve come to the right place!!
In this 3 part video we do 1) a breakdown of the confusing timeline, including all the contradicting testimonies given by different parties 2) talk about how WP did their crisis management and 3) an analysis on who is telling the truth re Pritam vs Raeesah!
Would love to know everyone’s opinion so do leave a comment to let me know what you think!!
1:57 : PART 1 - Summary of Timeline
15:03 : PART 2 - WP's crisis management
21:33 : PART 3 - Who is telling the truth?
LOVED PART TWO. Anyone working in PR/ Media/ Crisis Management can read between the lines in how they've shaped the narrative. They most definitely are culpable. Also, how hard is it to use the word, "CONFESS!" / "CONFESS BY XXX"... that is as clear as it gets.
"Woke people are the worst."
Quite an on point statement.
Wok People cooking too much heat rather than the food itself
Love your analysis. I hope more Singaporeans can see beyond their biases, and be as woke and as objective as they claim themselves to be.
Kudos to xx and team for the video! It was long awaited and i clicked on it the moment I saw it! The team did a great job with coordinating the colours of the set and XX’s clothes, as well as the animations and visuals!
XX has proven to be the queen of analysis yet again and i agree with what she said! Her analysis is spot-on! Much as I would like to show support to wp, I felt that they let the matter slide for too long and did not clearly tell her to confess from the start as they were hoping the issue wouldn’t get rehashed in parliament but of cos it did. By giving her vague instructions, the onus was on her and she is responsible for whatever choice she makes, not them and this would make them less culpable. They had to protect party reputation and either option they chose was going to cost them. They thought they chose the lesser of 2 evils but it was the more costly one instead.
If you examine the motives of each side, you can clearly see why they acted the way they did.
Yes I agreed too however, I do not agree with her conclusion cos I think all parties contesting in elections will make grandiose promise that may not eventually come true and even people anyhow pay did the same, reflect on what they said before election and after and you will know why. I think it’s party neutral it’s the person and his or her quality of leadership. For example, we may think that foreign staff are more hardworking, willingly to put in more time and effort but Singaporeans too (not my biased opinion but from what I heard). It’s not so much where this person comes from, but from personality of this person and his or her attitude towards work.
Fully agreed that WP slide way too long and on the way down the slope cos they knew it since August and no excuse can bail that out no matter how they spin it now.
@@bobafett5757agree to a large extent: WP should had made raeesah khan declare she was lying 1.5 months from Aug 3, the day she first lie
@@MasterChiefSpartan Why 1.5 mths from Aug 3 ? It should immediately within 24hrs after she confessed on August 8 the entire party should march to Parliament Office and expose the lie.
@@bobafett5757 please note that Raesaah khan told them she is a sexual assault victim. As she was probably not in the best frame of mind during the first meeting with the 3 WP leaders, she needed some time to reconcile the matter and confess to the parliament and the public too. I think the WP leader was correct in giving her time but they gave her too much time and use ambiguous words. That’s their mistake.
Very clear summary of the timeline of events, probably the clearest version I have seen. Also, love your opinions in part 3. 👍👍👍
Very informative.
The WP leadership was not up to the standard. And might have been a partner in this
The part 3 really excellent and its logical.

Fantastic summary of the timeline. Thank you for pointing out the illogical aspects of Pritam's narrative. People need to see the WP leaders for what they are: At best, ineffective leaders and communicators. At worst, intent on continuing a deception in parliament.
What a letdown from WP's leadership
XX is excellent in highlighting all the obvious many are realising now.
X X has used the example of a mother’s response to her child’s admission of plagiarism in exam to her privately and the reaction of the mother is in the same sort of situation and will just leave it fade lo. Neither admit nor continue lying. That’s the verdict.
@@pgobservers Yup XX used a perfect and well described layman term example which is logical.
Exactly what I thought! You will never tell someone - "I will not judge you if you choose to do the right thing." Really doesn't make sense at all!
i think why he said that was because , she alrdy told a lie and if she were to confess , it will make her look bad but pritam would not judge her for it
@@cynthiatanxinyi6375 yep I agree w u. I interpreted what he said as I wouldn’t judge you cos you lied cause confirm he know when she confess that she lied people will be angry at her and stuff, then maybe he said that to reassure her w “I will not judge you” idk that’s what I think. I’m not so clear w the whole saga.
@@totototottake9769 +1 and she’s an adult, not a child. So xx’s example isn’t rly comparing apple to apple. It’s a little like… orange to grapefruit? Hahaha well. She had the privilege of being an MP. She should have an analytical mind that one expects of an MP. If she claims she wasn’t in a bad state of mind / mentally unstable / crying and could handle the situation, why didn’t she clarify w PS if she didn’t fully unds what he meant lei?
Exactly in general you will not tell anyone that you will not judge them if they tell the truth cos theres no judgemet for that but when you direct someone to commit an offence or do bad stuff then you will assure with that motivating sentence of I will not judge you just to spur that someone cos I heard such dialogue in several movies.
@@bobafett5757 That goes to show how shallow and negative your mind was based on your interpretation. Hope you are not in any leadership role.Otherwise your men under you will suffer terribly.
Either way whoever's right, the public should not be confused about the outcome that a WP politician lied, and it was a politician that already had controversy, which was repeatedly backed by the party's judgement to keep her as a member of their party

@@risd1071 that one my father
Ms Khan lied and whether in parliament or out of parliament, it's wrong. However, she is owning up to her mistake now. Look at her so called leaders! Still trying to push everything to her when it's so clear that they knew way before and has displayed no leadership, no integrity, no shame in pushing all the blame to her now. I am not siding with Ms Khan but I'm just saying that the WP leadership is so full of crap and when I hear the vice chairman talking! Wow! That's showing another level of incompetencies! He cannot even talk or articulate himself at all! How can he even be considered for a role as an MP in our parliament!!! No wonder PAP has been ruling Singapore forever. I'm not saying also I'm better than him but at least I know that I'm not qualified to be an MP

The 3 supreme leaders were sleeping or ????
Unbelievable
@@desmondchng8575With your experience, I think that you know there is nobody that is totally innocent in politics.
WP: “Why did you lie”
RK: “I was sexually assaulted”
WP: “why did you lie”
RK: “I have symptoms of dissociation”
COP: “why did you lie”
RK: “Pritam told me to”
Typical “blamer” behaviour everything also not her fault. Wouldn’t be surprised if she blame others for her mistake even if there’s no motive
COP: “Why should we believe you”
RK: “i don’t usually lie three times in a row so i am definitely telling the truth now”
Still doesn’t prove that the three leaders are acting fishy. You can discount what RK says but what the leaders have done and said so far is not how l would expect them to act if they were already ready to come clean and get her to do so.
well said
You forgot the party knew about the lie way back in August and did not expose it so its typical of a Masteeminders to keep on victimised the WhistleBlower
You nailed it, bravo!!
i don't even believe rk was really assaulted while she was studying overseas.
Good summary and analysis. Especially the conclusion. Lying should never be accepted or taken lightly in a parliamentary setting.
Thanks Xiaxue. The key word is "substantiate".
Some people, including me, have begin to suspect that the abuse she had experienced in Australia back in 2008 is also an untruth. Besides her words, if there's a witness, pls step forwaRD.
I am suspicious about that too until the facts come to light cos it takes a lot to believe at this moment.

thank you XX for summarising the whole story for us and giving your well-thought out opinions on the story!
XX opinion is concrete and logical.
totally had me LOL-ing on several occasion. Xiaxue's comedic prowess is just super under-rated. Totally don't feel like a 38mins video.
But XX made lots of sense here and shes telling it straight.
Accountability is like kryptonite to these politicians
Their crisis management is fair at best. First wrong step is relying on luck & crossing fingers this issue will not be pursued.
If want throw RK under the bus, should have done at there & then. Wait till everything come out already too late. First step is always draw the line very clearly.
PS basically uses confusion till everybody give up watching, SL uses I can’t recall, I can’t remember. FM uses overwhelmed. These are veteran lawyer and counsellor leh, so easily forget things and overwhelmed.
Because she’s obviously a “valued” member there, her dad’s a millionaire leh. Hard to believe they don’t have financial influence on the party
FM's performance was a disaster
They probably learned this from watching American C-Span television channel where US administration cabinet secretaries can get away with many things by saying that I don’t recall, my memory is fuzzy, that person could had said that but i am not sure as it was a long meeting etc…. In testimony to US congress
@@Timholle that’s why there is a saying: Money makes the world go round
Thanks, XX! Pretty sums up everything my stance. Regardless, it is unfair for the groups like sexual assault survivors (non profit organisations) and police to an extent for such such lies. They are just doing their jobs.
Haha interesting perspective especially from the PR aspect but i have other thoughts too!
1. “I will not judge you”
I think the context is important here! if indeed all she did was to confess, then i think Pritam should have had been clearer. but if she had just shared about her traumatic experience, it can be difficult to “force” someone to share about the assault to whole sg, so he can only vaguely encourage by saying “take ownership and responsibility. i will not judge you”
if you say he can also tell her to confess without sharing, then same to raeesah - why share about the assault and not just the lie to the WP leaders? clearly she thinks it’s a mitigating factor that can get her off the hook. So the confess and assault must be shared together
using an analogy, if i told my mum “i scratched my teacher’s car” she would say “please tell the truth and own up to your mistake”. but if i say “i scratched my teacher’s car because he raped me in his office yesterday i was angry at him”, i would think the focus now becomes about the rape, not the scratch? and my mother’s concern would be “should i risk my daughter’s reputation by asking her to confess to the whole school?”
2. Culpability
Agree that WP could have pushed harder for her to tell the truth but i don’t think WP leaders are the only culpable ones here. Loh Peiying knew about the lie before Pritam Singh did but she did nothing about it. Worse, knowing that the leaders asked Raeesah to take it to the grave, she kept quiet as well? She should have escalated it, or bugged Raeesah to come clean, but she did not. Also, if party leaders were responsible for the actions of their MP then our PM very busy each time PAP member get into trouble leh. Unfair for WP that their actions and decisions are amplified
3. Take it to the grave
Like you said, Pritam is a smart guy. If he had told her so clearly to “take it to the grave”, then why cover up the lie by saying now that he told her to “take responsibility and ownership” so vague? might as well say “i told her to tell the truth, in those exact words”.
Also, in Raeesah’s text she said “They’ve agreed that i should take it to the grave”
They can only “agree” if that’s what Raeesah had proposed to do? So in her mind she already wanted to do that
4. Pritam going round in circles
Just my thoughts but i don’t think Pritam was being difficult by clarifying on the definition because that was literally what Edwin Tong was catching him on? And Edwin also said during the hearing that his questions were “designed” in a certain way.. (implied: to trap his ass lol).
Ok true makes sense thanks for sharing another perspective
1. “ I scratched my teacher’s car coz he raped me...” doesn’t hv the same meaning or give the mother the same feeling with “I lied to the parliament coz I was raped in the past” as the parliament did nothing to her. The mother can give her a bit of time to stay calm and later advise her to confess, but should not let her keep repeating her lie until someone finds out as being a mother, she should understand the importance of being truthful to the parliament and the public. A lie can not be covered by another lie.
2. Put yourself in LPY’s shoes, who devoted all her youth and time to work and support WP, who trusted PS as a good leader and believed in all his actions and decisions, what would you do? Who are you to bug RK to come clean if you trust that the senior leaders hv the reason to advise RK to keep the narrative or they just buy her a bit of time before coming clean??? LPY was so disappointed and felt helpless when she was notified by ET about the press conference by WP happening at the same time when she was with the COP. “Ms Loh said she was scared for Ms Khan when she found out the then MP had lied again in Parliament on Oct 4. She said she then advised Ms Khan to tell the truth to the whole WP central executive committee (CEC), which would necessitate the information becoming public eventually.” - is that not enough? Then what else can you do?
3. You asked your teammate to take responsibility and ownership when you knew about her trauma (being raped) - which was very hurtful to mention but she did share to you and seek for your advice; when you knew she may have been suffered by mental disorder; when you knew the importance of being truthful to the public than anyone else; would you call yourself as a team leader??? Yes, it was her fault. The person who had to take responsibility is herself. But giving her a clear advice and guidance or even ordering her to come clean is not your responsibility? Then who else? “You” is not only PS, but also the other leaders.
4. Totally agree with XX about how good WP leaders turned the tables. They were being bullied by COP (PAP indirectly), were put ET’s words in their mouths and were so cool, so charismatic even being under pressure??? If you did nothing wrong and you didn’t feel guilty, you wouldn’t need 9hrs to answer yes or no questions. Another good point from XX, why the other two leaders let PS handle this matter himself??? They did not feel something wrong since PS did not order RK to come clean sooner? Then they are totally not qualified to be WP leaders who should take the right actions than any of PAP leaders to show how better they are compared to any of PAP leaders and to be the true/genuine competitors of PAP.
not to mention ET is rude for for interrupting PS on so many occasion
U just got urself a new subscriber, ur humorous and at the same time very logical. Thanks for doing up the timeline it sheds light to this whole lengthy saga, kudos for the effort!
I sort of feel that WP indeed does not give Raeesha clear instruction to continue lying but they just wish to draw a line. Cover or confess both will cause damages to WP. WP was helpless that Raeesha lied in Parliament thus the next best option is to draw a line and let Raeesha make the decision herself. Be accountable for her own action. *personal view
As leaders of the opposition, PS, Sylvia, Faisal must make a decision on the course of action to take when something goes wrong. Letting Raeesha “make her own decision” is not what leaders do especially when the reputation of the party is at stake. If they really did that, they are not fit to be leaders.
Many now feel what you feel after RK strong and consistent 2nd hearings testimony.

If Raeesah’s script was submitted a week before the session instead of the day before, perhaps things would’ve unfolded a lot differently.

This is Sengkang saga lah.
Finally, i really thot you would never do this video. U had us waited for a long time. Love it. Kudos to you and your power team 👏
Great video! WP (the best of opposition) is a disgrace to SG politics. Imagine the rest of the opposition.
PAP struggles to find good talents, what more opposition. Problem is, imagine what it will be like under the ‘ownself check ownself’ governance?? Eg Allianz - Income acquisition… we voters should try to discern which opposition members should be given a chance to speak on behalf of the people.
Good job and Thanks for the video, Xiaxue.👍
I feel that in this entire saga, RK (being the owner of the lie) has the CLEAREST motive to continue defending her lie and even if her reputation is already tarnished, dragging the party down CAN make herself less culpable in COP, of ACTUAL punishments she can receive as a result of the COP findings…
Also, consider this scenario - that PS could’ve meant this in fuller context, that “even though you lied in the first place - I will not judge you - if you tell the truth now” but he didn’t have the chance to make himself clear during COP🤔
And to be honest, in most workplace setting, handling cases when it comes to sensitive topics like ‘sexual assault’ ‘mental well-being’, it’s tricky and takes time to manage it well cos’ any call you make can end up to be insensitive….. so in WP’s case, it really isn’t surprising that they don’t press on RK to act fast, given her influential family background lol
Lastly.. not sure if we can even trust RK’s recollection of all the discussions that happened with senior leadership because she could have been selectively hearing to words/phrases that align with her agenda/narrative (I.e continue lying)
What you said does make sense too
My thoughts exactly. At the end of the day, they did tell her to confess at the beginning (both RK and PS confirmed this). What proceeded later on may signal a lack of procedural guidelines within the party but is in my opinion, very far from being culpable to the covering up of a lie
Are you aware RK is married and her husband knew about the lie and the assault long before anyone so why is the party so hung up to ask her to tell her parents when her pillar of life support is her husband so that make no sense to sit on the lie for 3 months.
@@bobafett5757 my thoughts are that, her husband knowing does not mean her parents don’t need to know?
Also, does that mean that her husband is culpable of being a “silent accomplice”, since he knows about her lying in parliament and did not encourage her to quickly correct her lie?
@@winkanono Her husband is not inside a political world and not representing the resident so its immaterial just like what been said by Jamus and by her telling her parents is a personal choice of her to discuss with her husband and it doesnt carry any weight loss to the lies the party knew all along and in fact RK has confessed they did not advise her that August as she messaged Ms Loh and Nathan about lie to the grave in August.
I don't know Singaporean celebs but when you did the Markle video, I was hoping you'd do more! That trainwreck is still going on! Loved it!

$16K pm x 12 =$200,000 pa.
He's MP since 2011 till now, 11 years. So far, $200,000 x 11years =$2.2 million.!!
My conclusion is the same as yours! I also felt that she did not have to lie to bring her agenda across. Sensitivity training for the police is actually a good suggestion.
my own opinion about Pritam is that... He's the kind of person you would like to hire (he's really very competent in my opinion) but he's not the kind of boss you would like to have when you get into trouble. I feel like he really left RK to deal with the mess on her own. And I know many ppl said that she should deal with the mess on her own coz she's an adult who should know better. but she's clearly just not ready for all of this. They really could have helped her with her confession much earlier if they had intention of confessing the lie, so yes, I think you're right that they had intended and hoped very much that the lie wouldn't have been exposed. They were taking a wait-and-see approach.
Anyway, I think sensitivity training is a good suggestion and I'm sad that it got side-tracked just because RK chose to lie to get her point across! 😭
Agree with you that he is good to work on his own portfolio and has to be a subordinate and can never be a Leader or a Boss cos he is really a bad communicator and dreadful decision maker for those working under his wings.

Based on the context, could this phrase also mean "by telling the truth, your fucking lie would probably drag WP thru the mud, and fucking throw all our hard work out the door...When that happens, I would not judge you for doing this to the party"?
Anyway, agree "i will not judge you" is vague. But I keep wondering why RK never bothered to clarify on the spot? Why would she decide to leave things vague and unclarified? Unless she fears that by clarifying she will hear what she doesn't want to hear?

Pritam kept saying he waiting for Raeesah to tell her parents. YET Pritam nor Slyvia &Faisal, none of them ever follow up to ask whether Raeesah had told her parents. Any written Proof or message to substantiate that he gave her this order? Raeesah denied that such instructions been given to her by Pritam.
They said they cared about her health and mental state thats why told her to tell her parents first but never ever follow up after that in Aug until Nov and they dont have any text or written proof on them and even RK denied that.

I must admit this is the first time I'm watching your video. That's because you struck me as looking remarkably like the actress, Joan Collins. I'm not from S'pore but I do take an interest in what's going on there. Your comments on the Raeesah Khan/WP's fiasco is spot on. I trust RK's words (post admission of parliamentary lie) more than Pritam's desperate attempts now to save his own skin. From the investigations now ongoing, PS comes across as a much bigger liar to me. But he'll be found out - and he knows that! That's why he keeps pulling wool over your eyes to divert your attention e.g. your analogy "Have you eaten?" Ans: Breakfast, lunch, dinner or supper? Do I count beverages too - water, juice, alcohol? If alcohol - beer, wine or spirit? WTF - get a move on and just answer the question so that viewers don't have to spend 9 hours listening to your crap.

Three months seemed like a long time but MPs meet only once a month.

She had another month's time to think things through.
She chose to repeat her lies during the October sitting.
She dug her own grave.
No use trying to undermine the opposition party's years of hard work.
Wow u reposted again.
Hi xiaxue! I love your opinion on this really make me see a bigger picture on things 😹
Disagree that she (RK) has no motive.
Xiaxue, do note that Pritam has already made known to RK quite early that she will go to the Committee of Privileges. Obviously she knows what this mean.
The motive for her to bring the party down or lie further and put blame on the 3 leaders would be to decrease her culpability cos that would mean she will receive a lighter sentence/judgement.
You were saying that confessing did not help with her reputation - so precisely this was why she didn't confess.
The issue about "i did not judge you", "up to you" etc
it is precisely up to her. The content of her speech is RK's own to bear. It is also her responsibility of her own to craft the speech, decide what to say, when to say. Why, as an adult she needs to be guided when pre-election she has already spear-headed movements like the Reyna movement? This individual definitely knows how to take initiative in things. Why does she suddenly recede and concede the responsibility of her actions to someone else?

You forgot to mention that the 3 leaders brought forward the press conference on 2 Dec after finding out that COP for Ms Loh was gonna be held on the same day. This was really fishy
Xiaxue did mention it in this video.
The 2 Dec conference coinciding with COP has been mentioned twice- at 14:40 and 18:05 minutes (but without mentioning “brought forward”)

Okay sorry, usually agree with XX, but I think maybe the bias is seeping in. 'I will not judge you (for confessing)' can mean 'I will not judge you for confessing and fking the party over' what. I will not judge you for getting us in trouble if you come clean now. I think XX got quite a bit of blindspots in this case.

Thanks for the awesome summary and analysis ! Very interesting to find out the whole saga , too lazy to watch through all the hearings and readings haha
Actually, can someone explain why she needed to include the part about her being sexually assaulted when she was 18. Just say she lied about accompanying a friend that didnt exist la. Why got #metoo suddenly. Couldn't her confession in Parliament be something like :
"Hello Parliament, I lied. I didn't accompany anyone to the police station. I was actually present in a session held by a support group meant for survivors of sexual assault and, one of the survivors related this incident about her alleged experience with the police. But, I cannot verify or substantiate it because, confidentiality. Which means i shouldn't have shared it in the first place, silly me. But the main focus here is, I LIED and made the police look bad and incompetent based on heresay. Cos i wanna be like meghan markle."
She can leave people to speculate la why she was in the support group.
Even if she was pressed on why she was present in the support group, she can still say that she chooses not to disclose the reason. I mean, Sylvia managed to verify her presence at one of the sessions already, right. That's all we need to know. That she wasn't lying about that, at least.
Then WP leaders wouldn't have to wait one thousand years for her to speak to her family first, right?
Her husband knew about the lie and the assault long before so why did WP so hung up for her to tell her parents and that doesnt make sense.

FINALLY!!!
This is a very good analysis and i agree most points.
Which part agreed the most ?
Also an important point you missed out in your video here is the talk about the sexual assault. A medical expert witness - forensic IMH psychiatrist Dr Christopher Cheok has been called in. These are the important points he made:
1) At all times from august (when she mentioned the lie), to the subsequent successive parliament proceedings when she double down the lie, up to the point of confession - she is of sound mind.
2) Her psychological trauma and traumatic symptoms she suffer has not reached the threshold of a psychiatric disorder.
3) She has full control of herself, i.e. whether she wants to lie or tell the truth, what words she want to use.
4) Making the wrong judgement does not mean a psychiatric disorder or mental problem. Mentally sound persons can always make the wrong judgements, lie etc.
4) Dr Cheok also mentioned that sexual assault like r4pe, is one of the most violent, intrusive and traumatic experience a person can experience
This means a few things.
a. RK knows what she is doing. She knows she is lying, she knows her severity of her lies.
b. Her psychological trauma did not reach the threshold of a psychiatric disorder in the face of it being "one of the most violent, intrusive and traumatic experience a person can experience" - what does it tell you about her sexual assault?
I think there is ABSOLUTE good reason to cast doubt about the sexual assault and its veracity here, did it even occur?
If assuming the sexual assault is even a lie, what does it then tell you, Xiaxue? Care to comment?
RK's speech in parliament had something to do with women's rights.
The point of RK's speech(peppered with lies) was about police questions which are deemed rude and insensitive to sexual assault victims. RK has later explained the reason for adding the lies.
The police questioning techniques and her lies are both parts of the anecdote, interconnected. It's unusual to pass over the part about the police questioning techniques and just focused on her lies alone.
It's even more unusual to question the opposition party leaders in such a manner as though they were the ones who have lied in parliament. That's absurd.
The C O P has in fact uncovered more potential untruths coming from RK.
The party sat on it for 3 mths without reporting it and thats what COP is after and about to uncovered and RK has been speaking the truth now.
I’m happy she has made this summary
Very detailed and helpful
Excellent analysis
I don’t judge people based on the mistakes they make, but what they choose to do after
Totally agreed!
Oct 4 SL met with RK and talked on the police contacting her and ask RK to get legal advise for it (can reference from SL's hearing Part A 1:03:36) and then followed by Oct 4 (11 pm) meeting.

That 9 hours video is a joke self dragging whimsical manner.
Raeesah even suggested to Pritam that there's another way, ie. Honesty. This shows she's sick & tired of lying, that's why she suggested to him that there's another way, ie. To tell the truth. Also she waited anxiously for Pritam's reply when she was questioned by Shamugam. No reply from Pritam, so on that same nite when they met, she suggested to him about Honesty.

Hmmm I watched all the xxxxx hours of footage including the Psychiatrist... I think we need to send everyone for English Lessons (Queens English), very subjective dialog , very typical of Lawyers right ? Its a simple open nd shut case of a lie. Just judge on the lie and end it. COP had too many people to grill a 28 year old girl! Many other people in the COP (other than Edwin and the Chair) were asking irrelevant and repetitive questions ! My conclusion, Raeesah is OK, no mental health, she has resigned, end of story. Status Quo now, go fight the next election with WP. Let them go now !
Hmmm. I respectfully disagree. It is not "a simple open and shut case of a lie". If RK had been made by WP leadership to confess to the lie very much earlier, I might agree with you. But, it has now surfaced that WP leaders sat in complete silence while they knew one of their own blatantly lied to the entire country. Would we all have ever known she lied about this if Min Shan did not press RK that day in Parliament? I think not. Because it doesn't look like the WP leaders valued integrity much in this particular situation when it involved their own image. Will there be other instances in the future when they feel that it is okay to conceal embarrassing mistakes they make from the public eye?
So no, do not let them off the hook so easily. I want to know, and everyone who has the right to vote deserves to know. I have always been a WP supporter, but I also want to know who I am supporting and what set of values they stand for. Every politician needs to be held to the same standard. If WP cannot hold themselves to the same standards they expect from the PAP who they claim to want to keep in check, then I find it very difficult to respect them fully.
