This distiller also makes a whiskey barrel-aged maple syrup. It's awesome!
sounds delicious.
I just had a dram of this tonight before I even jumped on the channel. Love Woodinville, makes me proud to be a Washingtonian. Our top of the pack liquor tax.....not so much.
the tax also known as the bendover tax.
I discovered Woodinville Whiskey last year while leaving the Chateau St. Michelle winery. They are located within 100 feet of the winery entrance and after an afternoon of wine sampling we stopped in to the Woodinville tasting room. My palette was shot by this time from all the wine, we did try it but don't think I could fully appreciate the flavor. I purchased a bottle to bring home, it's still sitting in my collection waiting to be opened. I'm happy to hear that it was worth bringing it home with me!
Coincidentally Mark Gillespie recently interviewed one of the co founders of Woodinville Whiskey on this July 16th podcast shortly after the distillery was purchased by Moet Hennessy. One my favorites in the area (Westland Whisky) also reached an agreement to be purchased by Remy Cointreau which also owns Bruichladdich. It will be interesting to observe how these brands evolve after changing ownership.
a very decent bottle Don. thanks for the info.
Nice review gentlemen. You have earned yourself a subscriber. I really enjoy your presentation style.
We thank you kind Sir.
Love Woodinville Whiskey, stop by there every time we are out west visiting the stepsons, still have some of their first run products in the round bottles. Thanks for giving them some props.
thanks for watching Patrick!
Thanks again, guys. You have a real fusion for whisky.
LOL! good one!
Have to check this one out guys!
My favorite liquor/whisky tasting channel for sure. As a Kentuckian, I prefer bourbon but, watching you guys makes me want to try rye, scotch and single malts as well. One can never be too careful when it comes to the proper consumption of liquor aka whisky. This comment has been brought to you by a fair amount of bourbon consumption...starting with Eagle Rare and ending with Russell's Reserve, purchased at the visitors center. TEST IT!!!!
Nice Curmudgeon! thanks for watching us! We started just doing scotch thinking that was it, and then we started branching out. Add bourbons, canadian, irish, japanese, on and on...there are a lot of good whiskies out there!
Love the Woodinville Line up still have some of their first batch, the square bottle is the new look for them, was out there Aug 2017, and sampled their products at the visitors center, stepsons live just down the road from them. Thanks for the review.
Thank you Patrick
What’s the coin do!?
It tops of a glencarin nicely, makes for a nice conversation piece and helps support the Dummies. It’s actually quite miraculous!
And it's aged 5 years in the cask, to answer your question.
nice, thanks Jay!
It's nice watching this just now a year after you did this, because I spotted this just a couple months ago and asked if this bottle is worth a try on a couple of other (bourbon not Scotch) channels' live streams and just got crickets lol but I know you two gents can give me a response on my question. Great review by the way! Cheers Scott and Bart!
thanks Richie Z. No need to wander far from home!
If all I could get was Eagle Rare, Four Roses Small Batch, and Larceny with something different now and again I would still be perfectly happy. All of them are around $20-30. Cheers!
All excellent choices and I'd throw in Elijah Craig and Makers Mark.
So Im guesing that you can oly get this burbon in washington?, gonna have to give some friends a call! Im still trying to get myself a chance of liking peated whisky, come around to canadian, and irish, but even though everybody says theyre great, I havent tryed one that i can say i realy like. Is it my taste buds?, are they off?, Help!!!. Thanks by the way guys, Ill send a photo when I get my new coins!!! Yeah!!
Right now it is only in WA, but they were just bought by the owners of Ardbeg and Glenmorangie. They say the plan is to take Woodinville global, have not heard a timeframe.
sometimes it takes time for the taste buds to warm up to certain types. it took me awhile to like the peat. scott
You should do amrut intermediate sherry or Portonova if you haven't. I just grabbed int. Sherry for my friend but haven't tried it yet.
havne't seen either one of those here.
Congrats on getting 4000 plus subs! Send some of them my way!!! ;)
watch for em!
Does it taste or smell like root beer?
It’s been too long I know longer remember
I am enjoying my 3rd bottle of this, which is saying something, since I tend to drift all around in my whiskey purchasing. I would strongly recommend this whiskey to anyone who is new to whiskeys and wonders what their expert friends are talking about when saying they taste notes that you aren't tasting. The nose on this is easy to enjoy, plus I absolutely love the cinnamon taste. Subtle enough to not be in your face, but not a mystery to a novice either. I hope this makes sense, or maybe it will after drinking a bit more, but I really find this to be a great entry level whiskey. I've had very expensive bottles that I truly don't appreciate as they should be according to reviews. This one was different. I have enjoyed it each and every time and love how I can actually taste the notes, or whatever the purists say. It's going to be a regular buy for me. Oh, and yes, we are not too happy with the taxes in Washington right now. Our car tabs have gone up to the point we are thinking of going back to horse and buggies, which would complement the whiskey at least.
Thanks for watching Robert. Great notes on the Woodinville. Would you be able to drink the whiskey in the buggy on the way home from the store?
More than welcome 😉👍🏻🇬🇧
BOOM!
I live in Washington state. The tax is very high. If you buy it at the distillery it's a bit cheaper. Their 100 percent rye is good.
Thanks John.
Good review. I think that the closest to a quality single malt that the US gets is Stranahans SNOWFLAKE. Which is near impossible to get a hold of.
distillery only...
please do another review of the Amrut "Passion" :-)
i think we should. scott
Scott not Bart doing the Test It!! that is a true sign of the apocalypse!!!
What's next: NEWS FLASH-Bart hates PEAT! BALDERDASH!!!!!!
$36.99 plus all those taxes at Total Wine and More in Lynnwood, 11 miles NW of Woodinville
out of control
This bourbon is good but it’s no Makers Mark.
lol I see what you did there Nicholas. Scott
Opposites day! Scott with a solid 8/10 Test It.
that was an 8.5 plus or minus two! scott
It's not passion guys! Get your facts straight! - Love Trenny and C
we have a passion for youse guys!
I am going to stop scoring also because my scores don't jive exactly with the average scores according to meta data. 🤔🤣🤣😜😎🇨🇦🇰🇷cheers fellas
Mark
Just do your thing WW
Nice one guys. Thank you Scott for reminding me: It's football time. Go Broncos!!!
preseason starting up!
I can totally agree with you guys. Price does not dictate quality or taste. I am a fan of 1783 Evan Williams for my everyday dram. It's price here in Florida $12.99/ 750. Yet it's good for what it is, and many of my bourbon drinking buddies agree. No its not Pappy , but who can afford there marketing and hype. It's not THAT good. Love the Elijah Craig and Buffalo Trace.
Spot on Phil.
I hope that wasn't the bottle I swapped out for Maker's Mark
my taste buds are shot! scott
So I have been gone and super busy for awhile and to my surprise .... Scott doing the Test It? I know that North Korea is going crazy but the Dummies to?
Scotch It Dummies.
next Bart won't know what to say...
Scotch Test Dummies That's when I will buy a lottery ticket.
Bart are you saying that Marketing influences Whiskey sales? You've got to be Bullieting me.
hahaha we see what you did there Martin.
25% liquor tax plus another 10% sales tax here in Seattle
ouch that is terrible!
The Elway Broncos rule..!!!
BOOM!
Unfortunately, it's more like the Siemian/Lynch Broncos these days. :) See you November 12th. ;)
750ml tax per bottle is $2.83 plus sales tax on total purchase. Tax on tax. Welcome to the Soviet State of Washington.
crazy. thanks Paul!
Corked in the Bowels!
sounds like a county western song.
Followed by 'Drunk in Jersey'...Am I going to see you in Nashville...wait that could be the third song. But I will be there Dan.
Scotch Test Dummies It will be a great boardgame convention!
You guys should use your winning bourbon from the shoot out as a base of comparison before reviewing a new bourbon, might help with scoring? Either way good show like always, and go CHIEFS!
i now question our bourbon scoring. we need outside help! scott
I joined the "asmwc" a while back. It aims to give a legal definition of an American Single Malt. More info here www.americansinglemaltwhiskey.org
YES YES YES!!!! Love it. It must happen. Bart
Scotch Test Dummies I agree, the legal definitions are lagging, both in USA and in Europe.
Cork keeps you regular. All in a healthy diet
