That was great, I wasn't expecting the Mario 64 docks music! Nintendo primarily used patch sets created by Roland for the Super NES and N64 so it probably wasn't a DX7 in the game, but that's clearly what they were going for.

I believe the original was made with a Korg DW-8000, it has an electric piano waveform that already sounds like 99% there, and with just the right editing it can be perfected.

Love the DX7 because a lot of people don’t understand it and the power you can release from it. A lot of people and stars used the presets but if you go deep into the technology inside you can make some amazing sounds, even analog sounds that do sound like analog. It’s a great 80s synth that changed the way for better and for worse. But it’s not the synth at fault it was people just using the presets and only few bands used the programming side of it. The only shame is only they made it more like the DX1 which was more easy to program. Anyway love seeing this machine and hearing its wonderful sounds. I think it’s one of the best looking synths made and Jupiter 8 is one of the best looking analog synths made. Thanks for sharing with us and fantastic work as always from you, thank you.

@@retrosound72 offcourse you are absolutely right, it is a matter of taste and personal preference…however mid eighties there was an endless stream of pop hits and all had that same DX7 Linn Drum sound…it was just too much for at the time, hearing the same damn crisp sounding synth in every hit song on the radio. I was just 9-10 years old and could not explain it, years later I found out about these synth’s existence and usage in quite a lot of top ten hits.
