Glad the old dude came for help. Just amazes me at how many people allow their dogs to walk out front of them and all over the place and wonder why they have a dominance issue.
Glad that you were able to help this dog. One thing that I noticed is that the older gentleman had the leash wrapped around his hand. That is an accident waiting to happen., especially with a large animal. Thanks for all the tips.
I don't know why an elderly person would want that type of dog. Maybe he took it on because the child/grandchildren weren't caring for it properly? They are big, shed a lot, slobber, have hip/joint issues. ....
Nice work 👏 I've trained a male Rottweiler 1yo for a client and with these dogs especially you need to be very clear and very firm but also very fair. this is one of those breeds where if the Owner dosnt have the necessary ability to take physical action (both Good and bad, + correct timing) your better off giving the dog back to the breeder or wherever you got it from because this behaviour left unaddressed or incorrectly addressed can get very dangerous very fast love your content 💪🔥💯
This is what I needed. The trainer I have had some great tools when it came to positive reinforcement but I’m use to old school where popping the leash was acceptable. Definitely can’t wait to train my GSD tomorrow.
Same because I don’t ur dog needs to listen to u with treats all the time it should be respect I’m still doing training with my dog as u can see by my profile picture
@@milansobocz8684 Training more like behaviour correction. Caused by its owner that is not leading the dog which makes her lead him. And when a rott leads it will be in guardmode 24/7. Which of-course is the worst thing you can do. Sadly the old man does not have a clue and loves the dog very much most likely. But a rottie needs more then love.
We have neighbor who has an aggressive dog… kids/dogs/cats just so scary an annoying. They definitely need to watch your videos. I will buy a prong collar and drop it at her house with a link to your page! 😌👍
I doubt that this older gentleman would have strength to control this strong dog if push came to shove. That pronged collar definitely is necessary here (I like the analogy to momma's teeth).
Have a cane corso lab mix my dog got attacked by another dog became extremely leash reactive your videos have changed my dogs and my life so thank you !
Yup I started my Boerbol on a prong after temperament issues post a dog attack, then swapped to an e collar as it's alot easier to issue a warning before they make the bad decision and dissuade in my opinion. My boy is almost recovered now but still wears a Ecollar on walks now in days because he is still deeply suspicious of dogs resembling the attacker even two years later.
Mines too. When my rottie is adamant to get at a dog that is being aggressive towards him. Even if I use the shock collar, he’ll just shake it off. (They have high pain tolerance)I have to distract him. Even when he is walking away..he’ll keep looking back..like, you are lucky im on this leash.

Love your videos. I have a 5 month Belgian Malinois and you have helped me so much with her behavior. She is becoming a pleasure to walk. The only thing I have trouble with is her locking on to squirrels or people or kids. As much as I correct, she still does it.
@@nordics834 She's gotten much better. She still does it but snaps out of it quickly when I give a slight correction. She is more interested in sticks than balls haha. I appreciate your advice.
Interesting, she is giving a "play bow" before getting aggressive. She should also have been given the "out" when she went to sniff right after locking on to the other dog in the BB court. Frustration at not moving freely, not getting enough exercise, built in guarding drive, fear/hesitation/tensing up/holding breath by the handler, a bad experience any of us might dismiss, or likely a mix is driving this. I also use a well fitted Springer prong, and corrections, but only to interrupt bad choices. I get way better results with most things using ultra positive methods, but allowing a dog to be dangerous can't be allowed. If you have a reactive dog, is it worth the consequences of your dog injuring another AND THE HUMANS that will likely intervene, or do you use what's effective not what you feel fuzzy inside about. Used correctly, prong collars do not injure or hurt a dog..I put one on with my comparatively wimpy human skin, as I did with the E-collar, and a tug was definitely uncomfortable, but not painful. It was on the level of a mild sunburn for a few moments. I only needed mine for a month, though I still use it in high distraction environments. Even a chihuahua should never be out of control, but it is negligent in the extreme to allow a Rottweiler, GSD, Mastiff, to be out of control anywhere, ever.
From a rottie owner i must say i believe they are great dogs. All do female it can be a very dominant dog. It is the nature of the rott. When i see someone needs 4-5 sits for the lady to go sit i already believe he is not her leader. All do the walking is great part of becomming the leader. There are also very small and simple things that can help you achieve the status of leader. In the animal world a leader does everything 1st and commands the dogs to follow. So when you get dinner you finish it and then your dogs get dinner. When you go for a walk you get your shoes and jacket on and make them come to you to get their colar. When the dog jumps on the sofa demand it goes off and lay down on the ground and as soon as you are sitting and think now is a fine time for the rott to join then ask it to join you on the sofa. A leader is a leader all day. And if you really wanna challenge yourself take a male rottie and do not castrate it, not for beginners ;) Oh and if you ask me key in the rottweiler becomming a great family dog is socialisation in combination with a constant leader. Tricks are nice and cute but when a rottie goes guard mode it wont give paws hehe
this dog is too strong in personality and body strength to an old man. he’s also to soft for the dog. training will help a lot, but its not the best match.
Best bang for your buck, for sure. You can't coddle that behavior. Any other type of correction will not only take longer but will probably end up hurting the dog.
EXCELLENT ! This is exactly what I needed to see I was doing the same just not as firm I guess. She only does it with me. Not all the time because as soon as I see her lock in I am on it. My rott is reactive with wheels or something moving too. It’s so weird I don’t understand it. I’m taking him to get trained. I wish this guy was local to me.
Look when you want to own a powerful dog breed such as a powerful Rottweiler you have to first and foremost just like your children, establish your Alpa role and follow through with punishment for not obeying that. You are in command and the King or Queen and will inflict by any means necessary consequences for bad behavior. If they know that first then you will never have to prove otherwise.
You need to pop the collar, you can not have constant pressure on the collar it should be loose and then you yank fast hard and release, just like a dog biting, it is meant to snap a dogs attention away not control pulling or yanking
I'm sorry to say, but this is a problem waiting to happen. In a perfect world that old gentleman should be able to control that Rottie, but we live in reality and in reality bad things happen. Once the Rottie gets full grown there is no way the gentleman will be able to control her, hopefully the training works and curbs her aggression for the safety of the man, dog and anyone around while they're out in public.
I don't Love the prong collars and have never used one but when you have a big mature dog misbehaviour it might be a useful option but only used with care and training. For example horse riders use bits, martingales, spurs and a whip but these do not need to be used to hurt the animal. For example a whip used to be carried by people riding side saddle as a substitute for the heel on that side. A touch simultaneously with the heel on the other side to walk on. Bits can encourage the horse to carry the head better etc but tearing the mouth out if the animal is going to give him a hard mouth and he is harder to manage. Gentle, consistent and moderated control is key regardless if the tools.
Omg that's so mean what you did to that poor dog. JK people lol it's the best way to control them big dogs and put em in check before they become a liability for you
OK I just learned a few things one there’s different sized collars instead of the torture chamber and where to place it I’ve never seen it placed them that way on a dog and I saw how the dog responded when you pulled up on the collar now will this type of thing help with training the Rottweiler and I also need some assistance on how to stop them from running and trying to bite on tires but this was quite interesting and I’m the one that responded the other day that said I refuse to use those type of collars but now I can see the use in them but can they break a dogs skin if used the way you’re using them in this video
No. If you have a quality collar that's rounded at the ends and its properly fitted and secured on the neck it will not break the skin at all. I've never had that happen with my rott not one time and I've used just as he does to train. Its a tool that will ultimately save your dog from much greater harm. 👍
Sorry, but a good trainer would have told this gentleman to get a bichon. THis is a lot of dog for a frail guy like this. This is an accident waiting to happen, prong collar or not. Reflexes are slow and you can't have that with such a powerful dog.
