I’m so glad I found your channel! Not to bash on other youtubers but everyone else focuses on teaching basic songs while you teach actual techniques for what is a real instrument often treated like a toy. I can’t wait to try to teach myself to play better with your videos!
You are my new favorite ukulele player! My jaw literally drops when you play. The inspiration of your playing has truly given me a new hope, and more positive outlook on life. Now I look forward to coming home from work every day just so I can practice. Thanks so much for sharing this lesson!!
My ukulele heroine! Thanks so much for your inspirational videos, they mean so much to those of us learning to play and living in places were tuition is not easily come back. I named both my ukuleles after you - Taimane 1 and Taimane 2!
Taimane....I think there is some truth in the old saying, "It's hard to teach an old dog new tricks." However this older gent has learned a lot from your videos, which to say the least... are phenomenal. Thanks for taking the time to teach some great tips on ukelele playing. I have watched a bunch of videos, but you are my "go to" resource for all things ukelele. I encourage others to watch your fantastic ukelele playing. Thanks.
Oh my gosh, this is so helpful! I think this is my favoutite uke tutorial video I've seen so far on youtube, because it's just straightforwardly teaching a technique, not hiding it with a bunch of other stuff about how to play some particular song.
You are my inspiration Taimane, thank you for giving us your wisdom! I’ve not done any plectrum type of strum up to now so can’t wait to have a go at this!
I am a ukulele player and find that the ukulele tends to slip a lot when I play, my left thumb gets tense in my fretting hand, and my playing sounds a bit too quiet for performing. Could you please do a tutorial on how to hold the instrument in a way that is stable and optimal in terms of resonance as well as the best fretting hand position(s)? I mostly play my tenor. I know it's just the foundational stuff, but I admire your musicianship tremendously and would be grateful to hear from you what it is that you do. I have my fingers crossed that you'll consider posting a video on this soon. Thank you!!!
I know this is an old comment - but if you are still struggling with this then try a large square of skateboard sandpaper grip tape on the back of your uke. It grips your top without ruining it and stops the slip and no one one else with straps can figure out how come your dancing around with your uke and no strap!! www.ebay.co.uk/itm/81-22cm-Waterproof-Skateboard-Deck-Sandpaper-Grip-Tape-Griptape-Skating-Board-KY/124209337063?hash=item1ceb7412e7:g:KeMAAOSwdrRXF-3b

I've been picking with my fingernails for 50 years, and using my pinky finger for the anchor. It's interesting that it looks like you go opposite ways as far as the angle of pick vs. nail. With the index finger nail, it's kinda hard to tilt it either direction. I hope that makes sense.
