I started using straps a year ago and never looked back..The back gains and strength were out of this world..I was held back alot by my grip strength. Fellas..This man knows what he's talking about
straps are the easy way out, if you do heavy rows and fat bar pull ups you literally can’t have a weak grip. saying your grip gives out is common sense and shouldn’t be seen as a negative, but giving out at the same time as the back should be the goal when developing grip strength.
Everyone please just do your self a favor and buy his program it works 4 months in now my muscles have finally reached that hard nasty grainy look and I'm not done yet still got until next year to reveal my master piece built by Peter
I could only do 1 pull-up at a time so I was doing lay pull downs and shit but then I heard you say don’t worry about reps worry about sets and just do 50 no matter how long it takes and now 2 months later I can do sets of 10!!!
Tip #1 alone has been really helpful for me lately. It was only when I tried using straps on my weighted pullups and rows did I realize how much my grip strength was kinda holding back those extra back gains.
Always informative, precise, and accurate information without any sensationalism and hype or overly selling your viewpoint. Pete you are a rare but much needed breed in today's social media climate of "influencers"
Solid vid with solid information. By far the main guy I'm following for lifting. I'm already incorporating a lot of what's said here into my back workouts and can feel it.
Was literally starting to wonder if I should reconsider stuff in my back training because it is lagging and this pops up. Great video as always and great timing !
0:20 i agree. I put on 3 inches to my quads in about 2 months. My back has been a weak point for my whole lifting journey until now since I'm prioritizing it in my training
Thanks for the great videos Pete. I love the straight forward approach. Tomorrow I will be doing pullups, rows, shrugs, and easy bar curls. I’ve even started using lifting straps for the shrugs…. Still haven’t let go of my ego enough to use them on other exercises yet. I do deadlifts on leg day, because I love them, but they will probably be the death of me. I do behind the head skull-crushers (almost like a pullover) on chest day.
100% agree with straps...I used to look down on people who used them and boy was I an idiot. Even if you aren't actually dropping the barbell or dumbbell, the grip can still be a limiting factor without you realizing it. Back is almost always the area that people figure out how to train last, hopefully this video gives folks a head start!
Love your stuff Pete! Your stuff is necessary in the fitness community more than ever, been doing some of these during my on and off fitness life, and they work amazing
Straps have helped me in a huge way, on one of my hands, three of the fingers I cant use due to an accident I had a few years back, so the straps have always been a game changer for me. Even if I didn't have the injury I would still have used them on my heavy compounds, like you said, you have more in the tank but the grip gives up.
Lee Haney had one of the most impressive backs of all time and for the most part only barbell rowed 185. If accurate he had Supreme mind muscle connection with the back.
Learned more from this than most Fitness videos. Most of RUclips is filled with hyping supplements and bro science. Well done my Friend! Keep up the amazing work!
Something I do that I don't see alot of people doing is that I use a cadence for my exercises, especially back movements. 2-4 seconds up and 4 seconds down. For back, I also hold the contracted position for 4 seconds. Many people cheat or rush through rows and pull-up variations and miss out on becoming better developed than they otherwise could.
@@n0name1450 I wasn’t like trying but i didn’t have time to watch it i have to study lol se I was just trying to see the main points and if there’s something new i can learn lol
Thank you for all these tips, I will apply as many of them as possible in the coming months (I am ordering lifting straps right away). Just a question, where do you buy your tank tops? They are really cool
By far the most important tip for me was, imagine your hands and forearms as hooks and rope, and you pull with your elbows as if you pulled the rope and hooks.
My back is head and shoulders above any other body part for me but it's probably because I love the BB row, supinated or pronated I love it. I wish my chest looked as well as my back.
For me its always been hard to add Thickness to my back. My lats grow super easy as soon as i started doing pullups. Having scoliosis in my upper back doesn't help.
Guys… just wanted an opinion … is replacing barbell rows with T-Bar Rows okay? I don’t want to miss out on all gains from the traditional Barbell rows …
Disagree with it being the hardest to develop. All you have to do is pull heavy weight, but people try to overcomplicate it. Deadlift + Rows and Pullups. Heavy.❤
Needed this, sth i would like to add up (at least for me) weighted pull ups/chin ups are trash if you are going to go below 6 reps i was only doing sets of 4-6 and my back didn't grow that much, this year I'll do sets of 7-10 minimum. Also I have a question, how can I get huge traps? Are shrugs a waste of time? I was doing upright rows, deadlifts, RDls, SLDLs ,back extensions and it didn't grow that much
For traps I would suggest loads and loads of overhead presses, both strict, seated and push. As I’ve gotten real strong in them my traps have grown to point of people accusing me of steroid use. I also deadlift and barbell row alot and the cherry on top is various chest expander movements, something that alpha destiny recommends warmly.
@@innovatixn99 Just focusing on Deadlifts and heavy Barbell Rows will be sufficient. (You can add little accessory exercises such as face pull and upright row.) I`ve gotten my traps huge just by doing so. OHP will definitely help as well but you don`t need to cut chest volume for overhead press.
All the fitness influencers are hating on the deadlift, I don't know if I should deadlift or just do barbell rows. My main goal is gaining muscle and everyone says that if you wanna gain muscle then focus on rows and not the deadlift. THERE IS SO MUCH CONFUSION?>!!>>!@#!@#!@
Hey Peter, so you're suggesting to do a pull-up variation and a vertical pulling movement in your back routine? I thought pull-ups also directly target lats?
Bro i feel so much pain in my lower back while doing squat and Deadlift and this problem is increasing day by day....now ni feel this pain not only doing workout but also...whenever i do anykind of work..i feel in my lower back? Is there any solution?
Check your form brother, we don't want you to get hurt. Squats and Deadlifts are easy to do wrong, so try and perfect your form before chosing a heavier weight.

I hit RDLs once a week on my second leg day. Hammies grew and my low back gets worked to the point daily tasks don’t bother my back at all.

Good work man... It's cool to read these stories... Keep it up... Form is where it's at... It took me way too long to learn this
So you did 50 sets of pull ups with little reps? Is better than doing the lighter lat pull downs with more reps?
Tip #1 alone has been really helpful for me lately. It was only when I tried using straps on my weighted pullups and rows did I realize how much my grip strength was kinda holding back those extra back gains.
Weighted pull ups + your fav horizontal row variation + progressive overload in the 6-30 rep range = B A C K
Cheat rows are a game changer. I agree on no momentum on basically all other back moves but cheat rows are different.
