How We Built an ITS MAME Arcade Cabinet

- For the last few years, Bryan has been working on turning an old Golden Tee 99 arcade cabinet into a custom MAME (Multiple Arcade Machine Emulator). In this video, he outlines the process of stripping out the old parts and planning/building out the new.
The unique part of this MAME Cabinet is the use of the original 15 kHz RGB CRT/VGA monitor and Bryan outlines how he managed to get that to work with a Raspberry Pi.

Great video. Made my cabinet out of the Golden Tee 98
I have completed a similar project on that same cabinet model... The vinyl on the control panel can wear out pretty easily in high touch places. You can protect it with an acrylic layer. It cuts easily with the right tools, but scratches easily too, so it's best to smoke the acrylic with a light sanding... As for lighting your coin buttons, you can do this directly from the arcade power supply and if you wanted them to function, you can run wiring down from the i-pac. I also found pvc foam board to be the best solution to my monitor bezel, but I had to swap out the defunct CRT for a 27" 1080p panel. Good luck finishing it all up.
that looks cool, i was thinking to build my own to play at home with my friends and cousins, i'm pretty happy with my mame build on my laptop with 1000 of best games, and easily i can play that everywhere and anywhere just with plugging hdmi to any tv/monitor with 4 wireless gamepads...but having real like arcade cabinet would be cool to have at home

Drink holders are the last thing you want on a Arcade cabinet. Just asking for a disaster. Also, I have a cab built with a PC & Hyperspin front end instead of a raspberry pi. You don’t need a expensive pic to run Mame & the presentation and interface is so much better.
You actually had a couple of options to use your original CRT in the cabinet:
RGBPI
Mistercade
both would likely have accomplished the same thing with less effort but, props for just making it your own way. It is a good rehab!

Software configurations and installation?

what is the name of that transfomer you have you keep showing on the video I have a wells gardner and GBS 8100 Monitor Card hooked up it came on a lil bit then went off I can hear it still of ..my transfore went bad need a new one what is that transformed called its on the video transformer 02-0010 ...that hooks up to your CGA monitor, and I'm not trying to do it off of the raspberry pi but a Pc CRT EMU and a 5450 ATI CARD
Liked the video and how you showed what you did but Two of those cards could of been replaced by a pi jamma adapter. the mame/emulation community has been doing everything you did since the 90s with lots of documentation on how to do it as it had changed over the years and more ways got added.

yeah I'm pretty sure X-men used this cabinet as well.
My only comment is, is it possible to use an older say 10 year old PC instead of the Raspberry PI? Just hook up the HDMI, and USB the controllers, etc. into a custom cabinet? Just easier.
