Wow. So good to see this after all this time. This is one of the many games we made for Nokia back in the early days of J2ME game development. Fun times - but challenging! IIRC the 3410 had a weird Open GL that had no line drawing - which is why our tech wizard Nkic created a triangle based line drawing routine. Graphics by the amazing Cameron Kerr and music by Paul ZImmer.
Hey, thanks for the comment! It's really amazing to see the original devs responding to such content! You guys did a great job, I remember the game fondly and I beat it in a few occasions too! Great stuff, man.
Dude well done!I love this game, one of the two reasons I bought a 3410 at the time but please for the love of God please tell me how to pass level 19, I've been stuck for almost 20 years now! 🤣
Small world! I posed a big update on the r/emulation page today. It's leaps and bounds beyond where it was yesterday. I posted some screen shots and updated the precompiled version on sourceforge.
It's funny, I suddenly thought about this game out of the blue and wanted to look to see if there was a port of this game or a way to emulate it. All I can find is your video, the link you have posted and a bunch of websites linking to both. Has anyone else even attempted to preserve this piece of mobile history?
I am not aware of any kind of ports of this game nor any emulators that would run such games. That's a pity, as this game gets incredible slow on later levels, and having something with more... manageable frame rate would be appreciated. It's not a bad game afterall; worth playing.
Yes, there is. dark_timur made a post on reddit's r/emulation based on a lostmediawiki article a couple weeks ago. FreeJ2ME will now emulate Munkiki's Castles
Finally remembered this game. I could vaguely remember the 3D environment of blocks in the later levels but couldn't remember the monkey, so this helped everything flood back.
Good old times. Remember playing this on my grandpa's mobile when I was about 9 years old. It is a pity I never finished it because there was some kind of bug in one of the last levels. :/ The monkey would just drown as soon as the level started.. I would definitely play it right now if I can find this game somewhere :)
@@Twarda8the8XanaX I have spent many nights without sleeping with this game and I hope no one will ever forget it and that it will always exist in our hearts even though many people do not know it
It is possible to emulate this game on PC through FreeJ2ME (by recompileorg) You can find it here: sourceforge.net/projects/freej2me/ You need Java Runtime Environment to be able to run FreeJ2ME's "jar" file (which is located as freej2me\build\freej2me.jar) When you open FreeJ2ME, it will ask you to select a jar file. Munkiki's Castles' "jar" file is here: mega.nz/#!EdETTCKZ!R0U9T4CxpZlILpX_PNOigGqenN-GDhbvmuHhCRmBoQQ (by Qwerty36078 on lostmediawiki.com)
@8BiToe yeah dude, i remember play this game in my father's phone when i was child. I deleted it accidentally, and i was super sad ... now i can play it and finish it :D
+Jefferson Smith (JeffersonDaGamer) "Apparently there isn't any gameplay video of the game so I decided to record it for posterity. I pretty much forgot how to play the game so please forgive me my clumsiness with the controls. The video shows 5 levels, in the last level I ended killing myself. Munkiki's Castles is sort of a 3D platformer puzzle game, I think I can call it that. In the game you can walk, turn around, jump, hit breakable boxes, move boxes (not shown here) and look around." I was too occupied with maintaining the stand, the video focus and the tablet (which was used to record the gameplay), along with trying to see anything on the tablet's screen, while keeping the upward position of my body while recording. I simply forgot to show it due to the mentioned above reasons.
I'm searching for an old retro game of an old nokia/motorola/siemens I don't know which one of these old handys it was . But there was a game called " run " or maybe it was also called "run run" it might have been on thaat phone togheter with another game called " munkikis castle"

And I’ve just remembered that time was so tight that Nick Slaven also worked on the code - maybe more on game play side of things.

If you are the person who made the game working with FreeJ2ME then I know. I've been replying to the thread :D

game of my childhood
THE LEGEND
It's crazy to see how far much games have developed
No loot boxes and microtransactions to rip you off money.
It's so much crazier to think about how advanced this game was given the limitations of the hardware at the time.
Bruv this games actually fucking class for it's time, not even joking
I used to play this while i was 8 years old :) the good times.
THIS WAS THE BEST 😍
I used to think that the game was super awesome 😍 still is, but I didn't know it was that slow 😂 and not so complicated 😊
