Will this current fix/workaround remain in place when using a VPN? My past use of a VPN allowed my Firestick 4K to update its firmware which is what ruined my ability to control the home button.
As an added bonus, I have an optical audio system and had problems when switching from my Fire TV cube 3 to my HDMI pass through connected Sky Q box that it kept setting my audio setting to HDMI ARC and I had to keep resetting it. This tutorial has fixed it and my audio remains set to optical 😊👍

Amazon blocked the ability to use a custom laincher once again

Thanks for the video. I had given up on Amazon devices and sold all but one on a garage sale. The Firestick 4K Max I kept now works perfectly with Wolf.
Unfortunately it is not working on my fire stick lite. I mean.. it works but when I open certain apps and use the home button to close it, it sends me back to the amazon launcher and I have to do the process all over again
I have a fire stick light and I can confirm that it does work
I have Firestick 4k and it doesn't work for me. When I push home button it always bring me back to amazon home screen. But, finally, update are blocked. So Thanks TDocUK for that.
I thought it was working but then it was not then I seen that the launcher manager was automatically uninstalled and blocked scary that they can do that!
I'm in the same boat as you guys. Amazon can block anything they want. I have thrown up my hands and given up. The only way to run Wolf Launcher or any other, is to use an Android TV box like the Invidia Shield.

Works well , except pressing the home button takes it back to amazon screen for about 10 secs the wolf launcher opens , not sure if there’s a work around
Well, it worked great for two days then launcher manager disappeared as well as the adb code so reinstalled again but I reckon Amazon are getting smarter.
OK, apologies(not really) , after tech doc released a new video with the important step that you have to click on the adb command to activate it, it works perfectly and has ever since.
Thanks to you Doc & the rest of the team for these constant updates, it is definitely like a "Cat & Mouse" game. Now that we have this new method can we try to develop a new method for "Blocking The Updates", to at least keep the status quo?
I am working on a video on how to block updates. This video I released today will not allow any updates to install as one of the commands used, deletes the downloaded updates!

Confirm that updates now say the message "never." Hooray! My current Fire os is still the same one it came with from a few months back, so I am trying to keep it at that!
So it look like launcher manager got blocked. Every time it finished installing I get a popup saying files successfully downloaded and the option to install, delete or done. If i click install and open it will opened for like 2 seconds and close automatically. Any solution for this ?

AS a paid up member for both your cache cleaner and app killer apps can I ask one question please Can I now dispense with the likes of AdGuard/ Permission Manager, App opener, Autostart, Button Mapper, FS update Blocker,Launch on Boot so Amazon updates are allowed if if I have this latest XDA work around to keep my brilliant Wolf launcher continuing to be my uninterrupted custom launcher?? As you can imagine space on a FS is precious so if I can remove some or all of these apps without losing Wolf as the default launcher, then so much the better.
I was going to echo these thoughts and to ask TDUK to kindly reply to these valid questions as that's what I wanted to know when I suddenly realised it was me who wrote the original message!!

It sort of works, it goes back into the homescreen, for one second , then into wolf launcher

Update 2 days in the LM was gone from my apps again have to re install every day again.

I typed the command in manually as I couldn't work out how to copy/paste on my phone with the firetv app installed. I seem to recall in the past that you showed how to put widgets on the Wolf launcher is the procedure the same.e ?

Thank you Doc, it works but sometimes when i press the home button it kinda goes back to the stock launcher then it goes to the custom laucher.
This is what mine does as well. It eventually gets there, but not to snappy. Better than the stock launcher for sure though.
I'm experiencing this too - a lot better than stock and happy it's working but it's just this that's stopping it being perfect. Anyone got any suggestions for a fix?
I had it all installed it worked fine on my fire tv cube 3 and today amazon removed launcher and manager again, to bad i liked it a lot and well thanks for trying.

Launcher manager is getting removed any solution?
One alternative to a custom launcher is to just use the app shortcut by holding the home button. I think Wolf Launcher is great, though.
Hi.. where do i get the app to type from my phone on to the screen?
FYI on my Firestick 4K Max I use the Emotn launcher. Like you I disable the screen saver and equipment control and never turn it off. Also I don't use the home button just the return button. Thus I always return to the launcher from an App. I can check for updates etc when I want to then just reopen the launcher app. Works well and is simple to use.
The old method still works on my 4K Fire Stick

Mine was working fine until the firmware updated when I was using a VPN. I'm wondering whether this method stops updates when a VPN is used.

It’s not as smooth on Firestick 4K as it use to be earlier. Throws me to Amazon home page when I press home and after 5 seconds takes me to wolf screen. Any idea if it can be improved ?
Hello TechDoctor, I followed all your instructions for the Wolf Launcher and my question is… when I’m done using some applications and I press the Home button… the original Amazon screen comes up instead of the Wolf Launcher? I then have to find the app and open it. Why does this happen & how can it be addressed? Thank you for your time.

Doc, here is an observation and a condition. First, the condition of the VPN in the update blocker is not practical at all since we use geo block daily, We live in Canada and surf the globe.
The code line for ADB worked for the first day or 2, then as soon as Amazon updated, nope no way automatic. Need to go to the Wolf icon and launch.
But here is the real rub, I processed a warranty claim on my 4Max because the screen flickers on boot. New one, same condition but only after updates. Removed the Wolf launcher and the boot screen issues have gone away.
I have not tried to remove the ADB command yet to see if this problem goes away. But I will.
I gave up the fight with Amazon last year. I quit Amazon Prime and Moved to NVIDIA Shield and the MeCool KM6. NOW I'm in Control!
Launcher is blocked still after 24-48 hours. Why cant launcher manager name be changed then do update blocker for future updates?
You are not following all the steps correctly!
Can't you see that in most people it's working?
Review the process calmly, download the correct files (LM 1.1.8 (NPN), Wolf 0.1.9), and follow the instructions calmly!

In Wolf, look for the Home icon in an orange on white background. Looks like a white faced guy in an orange hard hat and tunic.

I have a firestick OS6 with wolf launcher all apps show up but one, tivimate. Is there a solution to get it to appear in the wolf launcher?
I had to change the Trigger Key to “ActivityManager” to have YT tv return back to wolf launcher after closing app. All works good now

Thank you Doc this is the 1st time I've tried a launcher on the firestick, when I first load the stick it goes straight to the firestick screen then about 10 seconds it changes to the laucher, I'll have a play about with it when I've more time.

Thanks for this tutorial. I've tried these steps. It does work however it always shows the stalk launcher first, for 2-3 seconds, then it loads the custom launcher. Is there a way to bypass that and force it to load the custom launcher immediately?

@@ug8233, it was completely missing! I reinstalled it, followed the entire process again to get Wolf back. It lasted a few hours and then was gone again. 😢
Mine didnt take the on the 1st reset, but did click in on 2nd reset. Tduk, ur the bomb 💣 ✨️!!! Love "snubbing" amazon. BTW, a friend found a walmart w/ a motherload of onn 4k's, she sending me 4 of them , going to set them up n possibly getting rid of my Cube , Max & 4k's in the house & flip amazin " the bird"
Imagine blocking all the stuff that actually made your product . That’s why I don’t use Amazon products and got a shield and put them all over my house I was a fan of the Amazon fire cube but I ended up giving it to my cousin and making the switch . Great vid tho .

I installed this update last night and was working great this morning. I wake up and once again my launcher settings has been deleted again. Amazon deleted it again, just like they were before.

The Fire TV app closes launcher manager when I try to use it's keyboard. Keyboard is working elsewhere.

I did it again and now it's working. I think you need to run the command once you've created it by pressing on it, which doesn't happen in this video.

worked for me to start with, then somehow the screen saver kicked in even when set to zero (followed instructions to the letter), but now randomly jumps back to the Amazon screen on 'home' even though Launch Manager hasnt been blocked, seems a touch eratic unfortunately

Where is the ADB command?
@TechDoctorUK : amazon has not been able to disable my wolf launcher for the last 2 years. Whatever update they have done. Basically, I deleted their amazon launcher apk from a file browser ans no updates have been able to block my wolf. It's a very old version too! I have not disabled amazon updates.
it works but now everytime i click my remotes remapped buttons the firestick exits HDMI2 and goes to hdmi1 where my sat tv is

UPDATE: Had some issues the first couple of days with Launcher Manager still being removed but after applying the new TDUK update blocking method I haven't had any issues whatsoever!!
I got it working but 10 after setting up everything, I launched my firestick and my screen went to the stock launcher for a couple of seconds. When I opened up my Kodi my build was corrupted and I lost alot of my modifications.
Unfortunately not everyone is savvy with a smartphone. I don’t know how to cut and paste to a FireStick. I’m typing in the address. What is the symbol following 30)) and before am. It looks like 2 straight lines.

Hello. I give up!!! There is no command to copy from. I can't find mifi tv ap you were talking about. Copy and paste from what device to what? I can't even find clipboard in firestick. I have spent hours trying to find all and-nothing. Launch manager does not work properly and I am just going to have to live with manually activating custom launcher.
