One of my favorite Martina songs.. You closed your eyes around the time that the video revealed that the little boy was actually an angel. He walked through the people standing at the funeral to meet the girl standing on the other side who had passed away.. In the end you see them running to join the other children who have also passed on.. "God's Will" is another great song to check out by Martina..
He isn’t just a little boy, he knows what’s coming, he is an angel sent to bring her to where she’s loved. He befriends her, he looks to heaven when he knows it’s near, he stands at her grave then walks through people to meet her spirit, and take her home.
Awe,..you closed your eyes and missed the boy disappearing with a golden light. He was her guardian angel and took her from there,..to where she was loved.
I grew up in the 60's and 70's, CPS was pretty much unheard of unless you beat your child so bad, they had to be hospitalized or beat the child to death. Back then it was considered a family matter. A lot of us were abused physically, mentally and for some sexually. My brothers were in a physically abusive family, the last time I was hit, I turned around and hit my stepdad back, I was 16, a couple of days after I graduated from high school I ran away, I was 17 and I never went back.
I have been abused so bed where I could have died from it but I had a concrete angel look out for me and I’m lucky to be alive. So this song touches me deeply
As a man we aren't prepared for this vulnerability that comes with being a father. We never felt that growing up. We felt invincible. Once you become a father, It truly makes you become a man. God Bless you and yours brodie
I grew up in an extremely abusive household. A lot of the violence was fueled by alcohol. I witnessed my mother and siblings getting beat. I once watched my dad beat my mom with a cast iron pan. Not only did I witness but no one in the house including myself was immune. I endured being stabbed by my dad, being locked in a closet with no food, water, or bathroom and even having nails placed in the bottom of my feet so I couldn't run from all the abuse I was going through. I finally escaped and went to the authorities only to be told I was the bad one for running away. I was so scared Social Services was going to put me back, so I ran away from them too. I spent the next 6 years homeless and wandering either on the streets or living temporarily with someone I knew or met. Years later I visited with one of my old teachers from school and confessed to her about my family. She said she had suspicions and had called the authorities. They must have not taken her seriously because nothing ever came of it. Now, people have asked me how do I know? Maybe she was lying but I had witnessed others call the authorities and all I ever got was them telling my parents. "Hey, you know you're not supposed to be during that?" My parents would say "No we would never do that." and that was the end. So even when the authorities are called at least in my day you didn't always get help.
This is where people are missing out today. They want to put music in categories. People want to day music in certain groups. Don't people know if you just want to put a label on music like, country, rock, etc. then you:the missing out on some singers. Martina is a perfect example. The public wants to call her country, but she's been around for years. Don't lose great singers because of them being in a wrong group of. singers. For gosh sakes! Enjoy the music!
Exactly! I listen to all types of music and I put it all on a huge line - one end marked like, the other disliked. Every single song falls somewhere on that continuum. And never be scared to try a new artist. I clicked on The Sound of Silence by Dan Vasc on 9/15/20, and it literally changed my life for the better in a million ways - his great musr, new friends all over the world, a plethora of new entertainment via musicians and other RUclipsrs. Life has been so much better since I heard that song!
I know that you did this a year ago and I’m not sure in your comments because I didn’t read every single one but this song was inspired by her, losing her niece to the abuse of her sister. So it has a lot of meaning to her.
The little boy is an angel to take her to heaven. Where I live it is mandatory for school staff, teachers, bus drivers, and first responders report even the possibility or suspicion of abuse/neglect. Unfortunately a few have fallen thru the cracks.
I had a flea infestation and the teachers were so worried for him. I LOVED that they cared. I got it under control but I loved the fact that they cared. Teachers make a huge difference. I fixed the problem and my son was safe but their caution and care for my baby touched my whole heart.
I have raised 3 boys and 2 girls.. and truly blessed they were never abused at home or outside of our home... but It was truly a constant scare for me.. I remember when I got a phone call from the school nurse that my oldest daughter was in her office .. I said why... because she had chapped lips... I had to go to school with chapstick.. I admit.. I was ticked off.. Really... you're calling me about chapped lips.. but I did go with chapstick to school... lol . Like I said. truly blessed because we live in a scary ass world were children sometimes don't have a voice... they should be our priority always. protect them
when this song came out i was obsessed. i remember when i was in elementary school this was in on the tv at the bowling alley and i skipped my turn to watch it and sing to it
Teachers, social workers, emergency and police and hospital personnel are all mandated reporters by law for adult and child abuse, neglect and exploitation. I should know. I was an adult and child protective social worker in Alabama for 25 years. Very hard work. But worth it. I still have nightmares over what I saw and I've been retired for 12 years. Thank you sir for your sweet reaction. May God bless you and your children. ❤❤
Martina McBride's song ALWAYS gets me tearing up if not bawling. There is never an excuse to abuse anyone, let alone a child. Children should be protected and loved, not mistreated and harmed. If I remember correctly, teachers are mandated reporters, so if they suspect something they HAVE to say something. It's insane to me how many children have been failed by not only their parents, but others who were in a position to help. It's such a huge issue that this is reality for a lot of kids. No one deserves to be abused so if you see, hear, or suspect something, then say something. Don't wait for someone else to say something because the likelihood of someone saying something decreases.
According to McBride, this is a true story based on her niece who was abused by her mother (McBride's sister) and killed at the young age of 7. The name on the head stone is her nieces.
Being a teacher, by law she’s supposed to report such things. That’s one of the worst things because how many teachers do like she did to not get in trouble themselves if wrong.
You’re correct- excellent documentary & a very sick world. Martina’s got pipes!!! Her ‘Love’s The Only House’ is another important song in these crazy times we’re all (trying) to live in. Wild Angles, Blessed, This One’s For The Girls, Independence Day, Broken Wing… she’s got a great catalog! Another nice reaction; appreciate you! Stay safe & love much💖
I apologize for the lengthy comment. My mother was a teacher and through the years of working in childcare myself, I found out it is ILLEGAL for a teacher or childcare worker that suspects abuse to not report it. My first employer lied to me about what to do in that situation (she said report it to her alone and tell no one else), My second employer informed me that if I suspected abuse and did not report it to the police, then I would be arrested myself for failure to report it. I am proud to say that in both my mom's career and mine that we each only had to do a few child services reports and that in each case we reported of children abused in our care, ALL were removed from their dangerous situations and placed into stable LOVING homes for these poor traumatized children. I didn't care if it angered an employer and risked me losing my job. All that mattered was ensuring that the children in our care were now safe because we were brave enough to report it. If you can save a child, the risk to your job doesn't matter, the ONLY things that mattered to us was protecting the children in our care to the fullest extent of what was possible. It bring us great comfort that the handful of child abuse reports we handled, ALL of the children went to homes where they were able to have happy, whole lives where they were loved unconditionally. I'll end in a quote, "Be the change you wish to see in the world" and that "All it take for evil to prosper is for good men/women to do nothing. P.S I WISH that growing up my teachers had been brave enough to save me. Many of them suspected abuse but did nothing. If they had then the Hell I went through could've ended at least 3 years before it actually did and the only reason it ended when I was 11 is that God's retribution came for him to deal out karma the karma he deserved. Love your children as the blessing from God that they truly are!
Sorry, I had to comment several hours after watching because this song always gets me to start with, but you legitimately had me in tears I had to compose myself. Skeez you are definitely a great human being and one h$ll of a dad. #skeezsquad
My first "Tear Jerker" was in the 1950s. BY ELVIS! "Ol' Shep".I was only 4 but cried every time my older sisters brought their friends over and played it.
I 100% agree with you. It’s not bad to be overprotective. I am a mother and I am the same way bc unfortunately this world is crazy and it’s scary. Love all your reactions. Please keep it coming ❤
I'm with ya. What they didn't put in the video was the child screaming for mercy. They put that in their, people would be walking the streets looking for child abusers.
Please Google this. I also believed this was the case based on something I found online, but someone corrected me, so I went to do more research. Every other source I pulled up said that this is not true. I went back to look it up again and couldn't even find the original source any longer. The song may be based on an actual event, but does not appear to have been Martina's niece.
This is not true. Martina McBride did not write this song about any family member. The song has no connection to any family member or friend of McBride’s. That is a myth. This song was written by Stephanie Bentley and Rob Crosby. The closest inspiration for the song is Judith Barisi, a child star who was murdered along with her mother by her abusive father at the age of ten under very similar (and yet far more gruesome) circumstances, with Barsi’s gravestone also bearing the phrase “our concrete angel.” However, the relation is a pure coincidence.
Not sure if this is everywhere but here, if a teacher suspects abuse, they have to report it to CAS (children’s aid society) or the police. Police or CAS investigate to determine whether or not there is abuse. I have had the unfortunate experience of making these calls a few times in my life…they’re painful but we got to protect the kids we care for.
I have seen several reactors including you that close your eyes at the wrong times. I get it when you are listening to the music, but sometimes the video shows additional details that changes everything. In this case, a Guardian Angel and the little girl going to Heaven were she is loved!
My favorite songs from Martina McBride are That’s Me, Independence Day, That Wasn’t Me, Wrong Again, and Still Holding On (duet with Clint Black). She has amazing range and power. You can feel her emotions every time she sings with that golden voice.
I'm so sorry about all of a**, but I'm sorry for you when you mentioned your little girl when you see the concrete angel at the end. That little girl was 7 years old.You know what your kids are so blessed to have youth in their lives
Every day we hear about some priest, preacher, pastor or youth pastor who are busted for child molestation/pornography/ sexual assault/rape. Don’t trust anyone with your kids. Be over protective!! Make sure they know that you have their back and you always will and make sure they know that they can tell you anything without you being judgmental 👵🏼☮️💜
I was abused in the foster home I grew up in by my foster dad and two foster uncles they got away with it that is why I say you see something hear something say something you may be the only voice the children have and hope
By law Teachers have to report signs of abuse. Even if they just suspect. Neighbors hear a cry in the night but they turn out the lights. We all know what happens in this world. We need to do a lot better with these children. I'd rather make that call and be wrong than know I did nothing. Parents can be mad, I don't care. I have made that call and those 3 little boys are safe now.

In the end you see them running to join the other children who have also passed on.. "God's Will" is another great song to check out by Martina..
Hard not to close ur eyes n get lost in Martina's beautiful voice
I read an article that said Martina wrote the song in memory of her niece who died from child abuse
The little boy was an Angel, he had also died from abuse along with all the kids that welcomed her at the end….such a powerful message
He isn’t just a little boy, he knows what’s coming, he is an angel sent to bring her to where she’s loved. He befriends her, he looks to heaven when he knows it’s near, he stands at her grave then walks through people to meet her spirit, and take her home.
This song just literally broke my heart. 😢
I've heard this literally hundreds of times, and it still brings me to tears.
I totally agree with you.
What Burns me up about this song is the teacher? Knows she's been abused and says nothing the neighbors knew.
Some people think that their children are their POSSESSIONS, to do anything they want with.
Being over protective of your kids is not a bad thing Hun it's something to be proud of
you words touched me, ty PLEASE DONT HURT THESE BABIES
My wife the daycare teacher here in North Carolina. She's required by state law to report any suspected child abuse or neglect.
The little boy was a killed child that brought her to the other children in heaven. Love that
Awe,..you closed your eyes and missed the boy disappearing with a golden light. He was her guardian angel and took her from there,..to where she was loved.
That angel boy, brought her to a place where she would be loved ❤ powerful song. Thanks for your reaction ❤
Great react 👍👍

If you really want to hear her vocal range check out Independence Day. A great song with a great message also. It really shows off her vocals
I would say Broken Wing as well

At the end of the video the children represented other concrete angels, all with a tombstone to remember their fragile lives.
its great we all our hearts think the same. regardless of skin

Also another sad emotional song that I think needs to be heard (with video) is Alyssa lies by Jason Michael Carol give that a listen too
Oh my gods that one has me crying every 👏🏻 single 👏🏻 time!
Just don't listen to Alyssa Lies back-to-back with Concrete Angel if you don't want to cry. together, they are a 1-2 knockout to the feelings
@@spectrelead or while driving… driving with blurry eyes & heaving sobs is unadvisable.
you might know more than you think. she been around a minute and is known across many genre
She's a great singer, kind lady and has great songs
That little boy was her angel 😇 Thank you Sir for your reaction hope you 😢your family have a blessed evening 🙏sending love from Lafayette Georgia 😅

My first "Tear Jerker" was in the 1950s. BY ELVIS! "Ol' Shep".I was only 4 but cried every time my older sisters brought their friends over and played it.
The love and protection you have for your children should be a model for all young parents. 🤙💞 And in my opinion that teacher failed.
Love her voice

Unfortunately for Martina sje went through this with her niece. Her niece was a victim of child abuse and sadly passed away
I know it is so deeply sad. Martina has a way with telling the world all the sad and " controversial" stories through her music
Please Google this. I also believed this was the case based on something I found online, but someone corrected me, so I went to do more research. Excellent reaction! Martina is a wonderful singer!
She does have a lot of songs dealing with real issues but her delivery is so beautiful
The first real song about the issue, was "Luka". Also beautiful and tragic.
I was like 6 when i heard this, and my god, I cried them, I am still sad now
The children were ALL angels 😇
Powerful..

Genuinely love your reactions ❤️
