My daughter was 6 mos old when I married my husband, 47 years ago. He adopted her and we had 2 daughters together. He never treated her any different than the other 2. By the time she married she had met and gotten to know her biological father. He wanted to walk her down the aisle, she told him "No, I want my real Dad to give me away!" Her real Dad walked her down the aisle and danced the father daughter dance...and he was sooo proud of her! He (bio dad) sat in the pew behind me and cried because knew he had turned his back on me and our child when we needed him the most...but he did me a favor. I would've never known true "I will walk thru fire with you" love if he hadn't!!! I still thank GOD for this man beside me everyday of my life...
Never forget that anyone can be a father, but it takes a MAN to be a dad.
You damn right my good man!
truer words never spoken.
I have this plaque in my room that’s says something similar
Don’t forget Jesus had His Heavenly Father as we all do but also had a stepfather as well
DNA makes a father. Love makes a dad! My biological father was in and out of my life for years. Usually he'd come around when he had a new trick he was trying to impress by acting like he was dad of the year. But, the man who raised me and showed me love, continued to stick around regardless of how I treated him. And I treated him horribly and constantly disrespected him. Standing in the church on my wedding day, that he paid for, waiting for our queue, he told me how beautiful I looked and that he was proud of me, kissed my forehead and pulled my veil down. He held out his arm and asked if I was ready. All I could say was, "Thank you for everything!" His reply was, "You don't have to thank me. That's just what daddies do!" I lost him in 2007 and my husband in 2022!
This one always touches me ...
There was a contest based on this song back in 2000 to win a trip to see Brad Paisley. My niece (about 15 years old at the time) in Arkansas wrote about how her stepfather (my brother) took care of her and her sister and the love he gave time. She won. The essay was published in the local newspaper. She and my brother got an all expense paid trip with front roll seats and back stage passes to see Brad Paisley. They both had a blast and came home with lots of photos, autographs and with a quilt signed by the performers.
I was blessed to have a wonderful man come into my life when I was 7-1/2-years-old. I’m convinced he chose me!!!
Made me cry because my beautiful niece is getting a divorce and she has twin boys age 5 and another one that’s 3. I pray she finds someone who will love all of them like they deserve!
Big-hearted Shawn reminds me of my Dad who used to cry on touching commercials😉
Love y'all's reactions! Speaking of touching, could you react to James Blunt -- The Girl That Never Was?
Love this! Another good song is Reba McEntire's "The Greatest Man I Never Knew" 🥲 (preferably the studio version so you can hear the lyrics)
That chorus never fails to give me chills.
I have always loved this song. Thank you for reacting to this one
Truly enjoy ya’ll reactions always yall one of the few that listen to every word
I was so lucky to find my husband when my son was 5. He was there to help raise him and made the most amazing man, husband and father, just like his was and still is. So blessed
My uncle and aunt adopted me when I was very young. He showed me how to be treated by a man. Years later, my husband, god rest his soul, stepped up and was a dad to my 5 kids.
Country music comes from the heart ❤️ 💙 💜 💖
This is such a great song and Brad Paisley has plenty. My favorites of his are Part Two, Then, Remind Me (with Carrie Underwood), He Didn’t Have To Be, Letter To Me, Ticks, I Wish You’d Stay, Who Needs Pictures, I’ve Been Better, Holdin’ On To You, Alcohol, Celebrity, I'm Still a Guy, and Water.
I would die for my mom and sisters if needed.
wow shawn- did not know about your story ! thank you for sharing - i just love you guys and your music journey - especially country music- great story telliing - u guys are the best
I met my Step Dad when I was 6, I got to call him Daddy at age 7. He is my Daddy to this day. The other dude that birthed me is my Father. I love him for giving me life, BUT he ain't my Daddy.
My mother was adopted by grandpa when she was five... and when he was dieing she was only one of his three children that was by his side. He looked at her I guess your only child I had loved me..just show it doesn't have to be blood to be family.
The saying goes . Anyone can be a dad . It's a Father who guide's though life. Who show's you what to look for in a husband. And the mother show's you what to look for in a wife.
You both are just simply BEAUTIFUL!!! ❤❤❤
Isn't this a truth. How could you not if you are a decent human being?😊😊😊😊😊
Reminds me of my husband's relationship with my boys.
I love this reaction.
Love this song
This song hits my heart my Mom's bio dad had nothing to do with her. My gramma married my Grandpa Floyd. He was the dad he didn't have to be to my momma and a grandpa to me. RIP Grandpa Floyd i love and miss you so very much.
Love this song , hits home cause of my nephew, my baby brother started dating my sister-in -law when he was under 2 yrs old, had their dating arguments he dodn't know if they'd stay together or not..( he wanted big brother's advice...told him ( I don't care about her and you ..but by damn don't screw this little guy up,either fully committed or get the hell out now before he remembers ya..so glad he stuck with ot.. my nephew is 14 now and an awesome young man with 2 siblings
I've seen a couple of different reactions on this video, and it hits the guys the hardest. 😁
My son was 1 when I married his father. A better decision, I have never made.
"Any fool can make a baby, it takes a man to raise a child" country song by Aaron Lines
You hit a goldmine with Brad Paisley. Get ready to have your heart explode with his amazing music and lyrics. One of the best guitarists in music industry, much less country music itself. She’s Everything; When I Get Where I’m Going; The World; Whiskey Lullaby; I’m Gonna Miss Her; Me Neither
That guy looks like Lee Majors
I love this song, just not when I'm driving! ❤
❤❤❤❤❤❤❤
Hope so. ❤
As a once single mom this song hits home so hard.
Mel and Shawn I just love you guys. You are the best! Could we hear some reaction to Chris Ledoux. Real deal, real cowboy, great singer, sing writer, the GOAT. He was loved by Garth Brooks, he even sang with him.
I have loved your content for a bit and shocked im just now realizing im not subscribed. This just came up under my suggested videos and my first reaction was "oh, i loved this song growing up" (i was a huge country fan for Many years in the early 2000's in high school.) Watching this reaction made me have a feeling i had never felt listening to this song and at midnight got me to text my dad (i was adopted when i was 2 months old by the people i now call mom and dad) telling him what i always wanted which is to be half the man he didnt have to be. im 38 now and this song finally hits home. Thank you.
I was at work cutting wood on a chop saw when I heard it on the radio. It's crazy that when something so tragic happens, you can remember exactly what you were doing
Your reaction to this song is my favorite reaction. Ya’ll are sweethearts. Keep up the good work.❤️
This song even now chokes me up all these years after it was released. It came out after my daddy passed away but that was him. My children has dedicated to my husband as he stepped in and raised my children.
my daughters DAD is one of those great people.
You need to listen to" color him father" late 60 or early 70
I love yall
