My Scottish fold kitty has straight ears... The shedding is no problem because I got a de-shedding tool... I groom him every single day and sometimes multiple times in a day... I have the Furminator tool and also groom him with a brush of natural boar's bristle. He loves to be groomed and purrs loudly. My kitty does need to eat good food as he did have a terrible skin and fur condition when I got him as an 8 month old kitten. But he had been eating Friskies poor quality food, and lots of dry food. Now he eats wet food and very little dry foods. He is more work than many of the other 57 cats I have owned, but he is very special... He has none of the health problems that the Scottish with folded ears have, even though his parents have folded ears. Don't hesitate to get a Scottish with straight ears. They do not like to be cuddled though, but always want to be right by your side. They love attention but not being held close or sit on your lap. My kitty has copper eyes and a fat face with grey tabby coloring. I only have one kitty now but have rescued and owned now 58 cats in my life... A Scottish cat is not like any other cat.

We have three Scottish. Two folded and one straight (one short hair, two long hair). I grew up in rural Arizona on a ranch. I've been around animals my entire life, from cattle to horses to dogs and cats. At its peak, we had 17 cats (including barn kitties), 24 horses, 12 dogs, a goat, 15 chickens, 1 rooster, 500 cattle, and two very energetic guinea hens. Probably why I developed a 3 pet limit when I moved out.
But I can honestly say if you're looking for an animal partner who is loving, caring, and simply wants to live life at your side, the Scottish is the breed. Just don't get them if you're looking for outside kitties or if you aren't going to have someone home regularly (aka you work 10-12 hours plus a day or travel a lot). They greatly enjoy human company, more than other breeds, and it's like having your own little hype man who never leaves your side. They want to be part of EVERYTHING you do and don't care what it is.

@@RicoRaynn You are so right! Thankfully, I do have a home-based business, so my Charlie can be beside me all the time. He really enjoys outdoors though, so I have him with a harness and leash and we go out every day. Even if I let the leash go he mostly stays very near me and we just walk around the garden together. If he hears dogs or noise close-by he just runs for home fast. As I type on my desk-top computer he lays between the keyboard and the monitor on a little towel and it is our special time each morning as I check the mail and have my java. My maximum pet level all at once was one large rescue dog and 18 rescue cats. That was when I lived in Spain. Now I live on Vancouver Island.

Never listen to people like this they always say lies of a cats without knowing it they don’t even know about these cats. They just hate these cats and are persuading you not to get them for no absolute reason. You can still get these cats if you want just check the information about these cats on a more trustable site or person
