    It’s really live.
    Slimane is massive in France.
    He won The Voice France 2016 then he released 4 albums: all of these reached #1 in french charts.
    He is also an amazing songwriter for himself or the greatests from the french music scene. And a vocal coach on some of the major singer contests there.

    Slimane is a great artist and the live performances I’ve seen so far are really good.
    I think we’ll get a little revamp of the instrumentation to renew the song before the contest season.
    Finally, France have a big name (his albums are all #1 here) and I hope it’s for the best 😊

    Slimane has a massive fan base in the French speaking world, so we know he is going to do well in Belgium, the Netherlands and Switzerland. It's a jury pleaser so Im gonna go ahead and say he's gonna be at least in top 5.

  • @percevalmahpouyas9933
    @percevalmahpouyas9933 11 месяцев назад +3

    Here's the thing... Italy and Sweden are Europe's favorite children at ESC. Whatever they throw out, fans are eating it. And if any other country pumps out a song that is even remotely close from previous Swedish or Italian entries, they're "trying too hard", "copycats" or doomed to fail because people are gonna compare so much that they will never see these entries for what they really are, other than carbon copies.
    As for the countries that got punished for always doing the same thing (Italy and Sweden excluded), whenevr they try something different, they're being punished even more because "it doesn't fit their image". So yeah, I'd say France should take the Portuguese path : lets stay true to ourselves, whether it fits or not, and let's not care anymore if people like it or not.

  • @Hydraas

  • @Frederic1406
    @Frederic1406 Год назад +7

    I would envision an elevation of thé song where we could have, as you say, an ethnic instrument much more present through the song and the staging could be around a dialogue between him and the instrumentist, everything intimate ans showcasing his super skilled voice.

    Well Italy has not invented the ballads as far as I know France competing with ballads largely even before Italy and even won with some of them. The french chanson is still a thing. So no France is not copying nobody or whatever they just bring their culture with that song. Now if you can't make the difference between french and italian culture and music then I can do nothing. Voilà did well with the televote though and it's in the same vein. You're never or rarely convinced by France though.

      Sir. This is not Voila and no one said that Italy has a monopoly on men singing ballads. If it is nuance you’re unable to detect just say that. Italy has been doing VERY well with their formula at Eurovision. France’s recent Eurovision track record is not as solid. We will see how well Slimane does in May, but the buzz is currently not residing around France’s offering (for now)

      France brings their biggest star, the most talented guy of the country with a beautiful and intense song and it's still not enough to satisfy the average eurofans apparently. I am not saying they “copied” Italy EXCEPT for the styling- it is too reminiscent of what was served last year. ALSO: with the exception of Tom Leeb, France hasn’t sent a male ballad in the last 10/12 years… Sognu was pop-era so it doesn’t count as a straight up male ballad.

    La chanson est très bien comme ça. Ecoutez d'autres chansons de Slimane et vous comprendrez qu'ici en France on l'apprecie pour son interprétation, sa voix et surtout son talent pour écrire des chansons qui prennent aux tripes. Les fioritutes ne font pas tous dans une chansons, plus j'écoute cette chanson et plus j'apprécie sa simplicité. Et non on a pas copié l'Italie c'est juste le style de l'artiste avant de parler faite des recherches sur les artistes et leurs motivations. Moi ca faisait longtemps que je n'avais pas été aussi contente de l'artiste qui nous représente.

    I like the direction this is headed in: Good song with a vocal journey that I can tell will slay live since Slimane's a seasoned artist (another plus!). My big concern with France is staging, last two years that's where they really fumbled.
    I do agree that an extra shot of something should be added to the live performance, I'm assuming there was hesitation to add an ethnic flavor right after a fellow Magrebi-descent artist won and who's look was also inspired by her roots. But with his talent, they can definitely try more things.
    Bright side: maybe this will encourage Italy to choose a female artist at Sanremo so as to not split the votes lol.
