No one actually thinks Trump is "at the center" except you. Republicans and Democrats are both thoroughly pro-corporate parties. The question is how much do they have to placate their base. Democrats find it easy to ignore almost everything their base is calling for, to the point where it's electorally problematic. But with Trump, it's all red meat all the time. If I'm a wall street guy there's no way I would trust a Trump administration, Mr. Dictator on Day One, over someone like Kamala who is essentially a blank canvas waiting for me to paint whatever I want on it. Even still a lot of that support will always go to the GOP because wall street interests already naturally align with right-wing politics.
Because tRump is an economic disaster and could destabilize our society and the world (win or lose). They don't like uncertainty and huge deficits. There are two track records here to compare. They and we have enjoyed somewhat steady economic leadership under Powell and Biden. Has it been perfect, far from it. While Wall St. may not like a lot of the Democratic tax and regulatory policies they dislike uncertainty and chaos even more. Democrats are cozier with Wall St. than most of us would like or like to admit. I know I like looking at my portfolio better now than four years ago.
