Quick tip: On 4:19 Marie used Vampiric to put a card on top, and you had a creature without summoning sickness along with Phenax in play. Maybe even when you are using as self-mill, it's a "cool trick" to watch out for tutors/top selection and then mill before the draw step.
@@Someone-lg6di your opponents can't win if they can't play cards. But I'm not very good at it cus any time I play and espur or azorius deck, I'm focused out of the game from turn one. No fun but that's the life of a control player I guess *shrugs*
Milling yourself for 100 cards is alot easier than milling your opponent's for 300. If you want to change commanders for self mill I recommend araumi as she has become my favourite deck .
I would advise pairing any mill strategy with a efty dose of Leyline of the void effects, i still remember a game that was literally gifted to me as one player milled half of my chainer deck and milled my wincon in the graveyard.
10:41 Little confused how Max ends up at 17 life after all this. Starts at 20 -> Massacre Wurm dies to Generous Gift triggering Celebrant (19) -> Board wipe resolves triggering Celebrant 3 more times (16) -> Vindictive Lich trigger pings for 5 (11)
As the owner of an Osgir deck... I always welcome getting mill as long as my Osgir is on the field to take advantage of it ASAP ... When it comes to mill decks, unless you can mill them faster than they take advantage of their own graveyard while managing to protect yourself, I would suggest change to Annowon as it has more field presence if U want to continue mill, or change the strat to self-mill with someone like Araumi
Title: When milling goes wrong Muddstah: I might consider changing to self mill instead of milling my opponents Me putting 2+2+the 2 for their being a graveyard deck and an aristocrats deck in the pod together: Oh this isn't gonna go well for Phenax is it?
My Phenax had big problems keeping up, but then I added cards that utilize opponent graveyards (Rise of the Dark Realms, the 7 mana Warlock, the pirate horror commander, etc.)
Have you considered switching phenax to captain ngathrod or zelix/haunted one? You might have a bit better luck with either of those since youre attacking on multiple axes and gaining advantage in other ways that just reducing their library. You can obviously still put phenax in the 99.
I still think that, if you want to mill the opponents, you should go for Captain N'ghathrod instead, to get some value out of that mill. This is especially important considering the vendetta you'll get from milling your opponents.
Don't know how much it would have affected the game, but battlemage's bracers doesn't work that way with Osgir. He exiles the card, so copying the trigger would mean you have to pick a different artifact to copy and not you getting 4 copies of one artifact.
Exiling the artifact card is part of the cost to activate the ability; it's not targeted or anything like that. Bracers will only copy the ability's effect, which is create two token copies of the exiled card.
Exiling the card is part of the cost. Therefor it works like in the video, with 4 copies. BTW, exiling being part of the costs makes it way harder to interact with this ability.

Great suggestion!
Did that once when my oponent tutored land
@@Someone-lg6di I approve XD

That krark/kalamax combo is brutal, either you get three of the spell or you get the spell back to cast again later and still get one of it.

A friend has a dope Araumi, so seconded!
Self-milling also tempts the player to go down the Thoracle/Labman path to victory, though...
@@DarkEinherjar I did run Thoracle but eventually took it out as it is a very powerful win. Now I rely more on recurring life drain effects
I have myself a araumi deck, problem with running her is when they see the graveyard.. she gets killed instant if i dont have greaves on her :/
You dont have to mill every opponent out to win with mill. You just have to mill the LAST opponent out.
Was wondering why Andrew was milling Max so much until that Bog lmao great content as usual!

@@vko2189 Teysa wasn't on board?
For what it it’s worth, I love playing Zellix/Haunted One, very fun and surprisingly viable deck.

What a rough game for everyone in here, besides Osgir.

Is there a Teysa decklist? Spicy 😄
Marie has a sick playmat how do I get one with that picture I need ghost cactus frend
🎵Na na na na na na na na na Katamyri Battlesphere...
Excellent game as always. Thanks for posting.
Still able to get the infernal darkness playmat? Finally got some extra money and ive been wanting that one lol
Hedron Crab is a 0/2, and you didn't have delirium, so tapping it would have caused Max to mill 2
Will always click Phenax, my first commander

Ouch, Osgir was angry in yhis game play
Osgir is always angry. People sleep on him cuz he was a precon commander but he is definitely in the "kill on site" club.
Shouldn’t phenax have survived that first board wipe??
Phenax definitely fueled osgir there at the end
I see Osgir I like - a lot 🤗🤗🤗
Cool
Spice is nice

Phenax brings some very powerful mill to the table and having multiple ways to combo out. Captain N-word is, fun.
