It almost feels sacrilegious to beat a mk II in a GM II in a match i had yesterday.
Ok, the AEUG's assault on Jaburo (as seen in the Zeta anime) was a VERY pyrrhic victory for the AEUG. Most of Jaburo's defenses were One Year War era MS with Titan's reinforcements from space. We actually have numbers for how many MS the AEUG had for the operation (80). We don't know how many Scirocco picked off in the Messala. AEUG's forces were reduced by at least half.
Their surviving forces were able to fit in TWO Garuda-class transports (which can hold 20 MS each) with enough space for prisonors they decided to capture. The Sudori (one of the Garudas) was captured by Federation forces who converted it into their base but it either didn’t have any MS left or they just dumped them on a base somewhere (The Sudori solely launches One Year War era Zeon MS or Hizacks).
After Hong Kong, the Sudori have very little MS to use and the AEUG' GMIIs and Nemos would probably be familiar enough to use if they had any.
So to reiterate, the AEUG's force of 80 MS were cut down to anywhere between 40-20 or even less (I'm assuming Luio and Co were able to resupply Karaba with MS at some point) by mostly 8 year old MS
A stardust memory situation battle would be cool!
The first situation battle that feels genuinely unfair for one side.
I'm a bit disappointed that they didn't add the Guncannon Heavy Custom on the Titans/Federation side. I believe AEUG's attack on Jaburo was its only animated appearance. I loved it when it entered the battle by stomping a GM II or Nemo lol.
Edit: It was a Nemo lol

Considering how badly set up the Hizacks and Marasai are the Titans are, on paper at a disadvantaged. One carries the BR and Heat Hawk while the other carries the Bazooka and Saber. The Marasai thankfully doesn't get the Fedayeen Proto but that's also the problem with it. The only suit on the AEUG side that's handicapped is frankly the Nemo. As Rob said it gets the GM II BR instead of the big 170mm Cannon which would've made things worse for the Titans.
Even if it wasn't great (in my mind the GM II was just a stop gap machine made from original gms when the Federation lost most of their shiny new Type Cs and it's variants during operation stardust and needed stuff to fill their roles), it's still my favorite design for the original GMs lineage. Also I would take it anyday over the Hizack, specially if you could backwards compatible with stuff from other old OYW variants of the GM.
In my opinion this is my favorite situation battle they have put out so far. I don’t mind any of the suits that I have sortie in either.
Situation battles are fun, but they are very unbalanced sometimes. But we gotta keep it canonical, even if it means getting steamrolled. And this new battle, a Mk2, a Hyaku Shiki, 2 Rick Dias and a Nemo is a bit crazy.
Well Rob I'm glad you seemed to have had a decent round in the attack on Jaburo situation, cause it's been the complete and total opposite experience for me in the, 8 someodd games I've played in it.
I don’t feel the one sidedness yet. I’ve gotten titans 6 times in a row now and it honestly doesn’t feel bad. Unless you get the GM that is lol. No force injector feels bad when everyone else is stacked
Team Work is important but if they are same level then it comes down to MS
I both hate and enjoy playing this map.
only played two matches of this situation battle both as Titans and from my experience Titans just have to play as melee for the most part with the exception of the Gouf which should be sitting back providing support with its ranged weapons, so far had one loss as the BR Hizack in which the team was failing to win a shoot out across the river for most of the match and one very onesided win as the Gouf where the rest of the team were just getting up close and brawling the enemies while i flew around throwing out bazookas and unloading the missiles and finger vulcans
The one thing that this Situation Battle has taught me is just how much I hate playing the Marisai
I cannot use that suit at all
The gm 2 is not that bad itself I done fairly well, well enough to bet top but that beam rifle is the bane of my existence I hate it how unreliable it is
I still do not understand why they gave the Hizack a bazooka it never used one.
I personally just can't stand the gm II beam rifle on any suit sadly
