I´ve been in piano lessons for just 5 months (Since June) and im proud to say that I learned this song within about two months or so. Part 0:43 isn´t that difficult, I managed to play it in about an hour. Is about practicing and coordination. :D Good luck to everyone that is trying to learn this song. With effort and practice you´ll master it! Now im learning Fur Elise :D Wish me luck
duude, if you got through the hard part (0:43) in about an hour, what the heck did ya do the other countless hours of the two months it took you to learn the song? i mean, man, it couldn't have taken you 2 month minus 1 hour to learn all the other easy shizz, right??
It looks hard but please don't give up! I've practiced this for over 3 months and I can play this blindfolded now. It's all about hard work! Amazing song to play you'll thank you.self later! Go for it!
0:00-1:13 is quite easy and I can understand why after 1:13 it looks really difficult but it's all about repetition. I personally found 1:13 quite easy and simple. It's just making your hands use to the motion so that when you play it, you don't actually think about it. Your hands just move automatically. It's simple once understood. I play all of my songs by memory and after a few practises, I find myself being able to play the song with my eyes closed because my hands remember the pattern. I don't know if this helps, it's just how I play the piano. Also note: I've never had a piano lesson in my life so the way I play the piano (finger placement or whatever) is quite awkward and makes it difficult for me to play songs that require you to move quickly across the keys but even I found it simple to do after a bit.
mmm i started learning it very slowly and left hand only, then i added right hand that its quite easy, and then i increased the speed.. but no, i mean if you know how to switch fingers there is no any tip i could actually give you
I played this song for Juries (I'm majoring in music), and LET ME TELL YOU, it is SO MUCH easier to learn with the sheet music. There is no possible way I could learn this song using this video but it was actually relatively easy to learn with sheet music. Yes, I've been playing for years but still this this compared to the sheet music is MUCH different. Just take some time to learn notated music, it really doesnt take too long to understand notation. Just some diligence to practice and you can play songs like this in no time in a year, maybe even months if you are consistant. It took me a month or so to learn the whole thing and I only practiced for an hour or two twice a week. You can do it too!!!
Sounds like a sad frenchman in the beginning who used to have a dream And fell into a great depression And then it turns into Him sittimg on a bench and a beautiful french woman passes by and a note falls out of her purse and he chases her down and even catches a train and a cab just to finally catch up to her and then he finally does and they fall inlove at first sight
When I began to learn the piano 1 or 2 years ago it was the first song that I've learn. I didn't have any teacher I learn myself and trust me, this song is easy to learn contrary to appearances. (Sorry for my english I'm french )
Can someone please explain to me in the start of 0:43 .. Are we supposed to double tap the key where he blue notes are because there are a space between them?
I learnt this song in Year 5 (or fifth Grade if your American) and it actually isn't that hard, the middle bit - starting from 1:13 - is actually supposed to be faster and if you are trying to learn this I would suggest watching a different video since this isn't actually the original, I have a copy of the original piece and there are quite a few parts which are different. Also if you watch a cover of this from someone where you can see their fingers, then at 1:13 you will understand that it isn't as hard as it may seem! Good Luck if you do attempt this piece though, ;)
Thank you for uploading this tutorial. it's really helpful. I've noticed that when I play this it sounds drier than the original. Is the sustain pedal used for the runs that start at 1:13?
They are. It's very easy to read via sheet music as well so I always choose Yann Tiersen songs to learn. They're also very easy to remember (I like to play songs without sheet music to look at) due to the memorable patterns the composer has. Very good for beginners. The first piano song I ever played was by Yann Tiersen. Although to be fair, I first started of learning Clair De Lune before I could even do my scales. I was quite the natural when I first started. My parents were so proud of my ability, after only a few months after I started piano, they bought me a massive wooden upright digital piano. Before that, I only had this crappy keyboard with a broken key that I begged for them to buy me at a second hand shop. Ah, I'm feeling a hint of nostalgia now.
Shannon Briggs i never look at the sheets. i didnt know anyone does. do professionals do that? like concert pianist? i maybe understand if the song is like 15min long, then maybe you need to cheat a bit from the sheets
I3lackPearl I would say that this one is harder. Comptine got some hard rhythm, but the left hand is always doing the same thing, so when you automatize it, everything becomes a piece of cake. This one is a bit more tricky.
Ik it seems very difficult at first, but if you have the sheets an analyze them, you will realize that it has actually a pretty simple structure. Its basically always the same chords in different variations.
There is no point in uploading this song on a synthesia... the piece is meant to be expressively played with the use of rubato (where some notes are lingers than others) and smooth transitions, especially in tempo changes. It's not meant to be played at a strict tempo like this, and compromises the whole piece's beauty.
+Ollie Wainwright. The purpose of Synthesia is not to relay a piece's beauty, it is only a learning tool. It allows one to learn a song with no music reading experience and to learn the notes and become familiar with the fingering patterns. Once that is accomplished, it is up to them to be expressive and show the song's beauty.
Every one 'learning' to play this song knows this - these videos are LEARNING tools. You think we dont know that electrinic keyboards dont offer lingered notes and much emotion...?
Nick Kohlmann just Slow down the video. Or, if you want, i believe that you can type on RUclips "La valse d'Amèlie easy" and you'll find what you're looking for. Good luck my friend
zipHyperap :3 Thanks, but what I wanted to point out that this version is already simplified which makes me sad as I was searching for a tutorial for the original piece.
Nick Kohlmann Is this version semplified? I don't think so. I just believe this doesn't include the pedals, so you hear this "metallic" sound, only for hearing the notes better. This is going to be my next song to learn. If you want to learn it like I'm doing, you should slow the video down and analyse the pattern. The left hand is repetitive and the right a lot easier. In the 0:42 part, if your wondering, there'a pattern too. In the "central part", the notes are repetitive and the "right part" starts playing notes when the centre doesn't. For the 1:13 and the 1:42 parte... uhm. I think I'm gotta struggle, but I'm sure I'll find another pattern, like in every Tiersen song. Good luck learning this, I hope you'll find the way to do it!
This is so difficult but once you learn it and play it, you feel amazing. Would recommend!
Sarah I It's true, dear friend...
@Youna McGrath with practise yeah
@Youna McGrath it's actually pretty easy. Even for a non-pianist

+Alex Matthew it will take hours to learn but it is manageable
happy PAN why are u boasting be happy for someone that “isn't " as good as u
It's easier than it's looks like, so stop worrying! It took me two weeks to play it, because most of the time it's a repeated melody :)
Same for me too! Just takes some time to understand how it goes

Tomi Bauza any tips for the dificult left hand part?
mmm i started learning it very slowly and left hand only, then i added right hand that its quite easy, and then i increased the speed.. but no, i mean if you know how to switch fingers there is no any tip i could actually give you
find a music sheet with proper finger number for that part and yeah do it so slow that you can never mess up.
i did too, it took me half and a year but it was definitely worth it!!

Right hand:normal

It took me 3 days to learn, so do not worry, it is not really that hard as it seems :)
I love ! 3
is this harder to play or compine dun autre ete?
+I3lackPearl this one is harder.
have you learned either yet? :D Imo this one is much harder, left hand is so simple in comtine dun autre ete
I3lackPearl I know both and I can tell you that this is slightly harder
I3lackPearl I think those are the same difficult to play. Sorry if I maked mistakes, I'm spanish...

@@ziphyperap3369 no, it is the "hard"/full version. With some "mistakes" , compared to the original sheet, but, yeah ,it s the right one

Is this the original
I just gave up at 2.11. This part is too difficult :p
Anyone looking for the midi file, I searched and tried many versions but I think it is the one from this page: en.midimelody.ru/tiersen-yann/
Watch my version played with accordion:

Fingering help for left hand at 1:12 anybody? Lol
i also had a LOT of trouble with this part. try playing it like this: pinky-thumb, ring finger-middle-index-thumb and then go back on reverse :)
lucifer crue I did it with pinky-index-thumb-middle-index-thumb isn't that more smooth? :P
ive tried that before but i had trouble going back :p but if it works for you then great haha
Thanks! I'm trying it now!
good luck!
50%??
Three hands are required.
It’s not that difficult because it’s based in the same chords. Dm, Am, F and C.
Watch Ian hemstocks e-recital and master your fingering 😉

Omg
This is not correct. Too fast. Also left hand has missing notes. Right hand not correct at some parts
If only the sound was a bit better :/
