User from Rome, Italy here and long time Red Wings fan! Just subscribed today: love your podcast guys and love to have Raymond signed to a long term, fair aav contract. Let's go Red Wings!!!
Berggren's most important skill is not goal scoring. That is just what you see if you don't pay enough attention. Having paid close attention to his game these past 3-4 years, his primary strength is that he generates momentum by making his team mates a bigger threat and by messing with opposition defense. He's a shit stirrer, both in scrums as well as by how he plays. The defensive liability aspect is also overblown. He's as much a liability as Raymond. If possibly even less. There is also the fact that he produces when it counts. Last playoff in GR was a joy to see. He got screwed over last season and now has to pay the price through this years' contract as he is 'unproven'. At no fault of his own. I would love to see him consistently in a line-up with some high caliber players to allow him to get used to his line mates. Not this yo-yo, whiplash style experience he's had to endure these past couple of years. Go Bergy!!! Kick ass this year and show em what you're capable of! P.S - Love the podcast and appreciate the well rounded and informative entertainment you guys provide.
Detroit has shown in the past what really matters as a team. For example, "The Russian Five", top players who all scored 25-30 goals and dominated the game and how much I liked these players, but none of them were superstars, but together they were very valuable stars who outplayed their opponents. Today that would be Debrincat, Larkin, Raymond, Seider and Edvinsson. They are stars but not superstars You don't always need superstars like Mc David, Mac Kinnon, Methew,...etc. It's no guarantee of a cup win, some haven't even won the cup yet! Then we were lucky with late draft picks like in the past with Zetterberg, Daysuk, Franzen and nowadays Mazur, Lombardi, Söderblom could be similarly lucky finds (we'll see)
@@leonidas7281 First of all, you don't understand what I'm trying to say! Secondly, how often did Fedorov have more than 35 goals??? (twice like DeBrincat) I like him as a player and he was a Red Wing, but he wasn't a superstar! A superstar who played for Detroit, for example, was Gordie Howe!
@@leonidas7281 They played Sergei on Defense for a bit and he played very well. His skating and strength played well in that role. The joke was he could play any position or role and dominate except maybe goalie.
@BrentNinedorf ya I remember. I watched his entire career closely. When Scotty came in he was asked to play a tighter defensive game. Same way with Stevie . Offensive numbers suffered for the betterment of the team.
Though I don't think Danilson starts the season in Detroit I would love to see him centering Tarasenko and Kane. I think Compher benefits moving down to the 3C and with Copp and Berggren. But what to do with Rasmussen. There finally moving into the phase where they're facing tough decisions. Good stuff
Don't cheap out on your young stars and get extra money from the new cap numbers and waive bottom of the lineup to bring up some of the vaunted youngsters. Seems pretty simple but SY has a consistent aversion to bringing up untested kids. Devil's advocate: How are they gonna be tested if you don't bring them up?
My prediction is MBN will blow the house down and make the team , he is a Draisitle acvisiton . He is what the Wings have missed the last 8-9 years . I cant emphecsis how much i love this guy I had no clue about him before . But what ive seen is exceptionaly impressive , He is a hound out there and i love it . Danielson is always there to i would love to see those tow together with Bergren That or Rasmussen That would be a killer line or a boster line.
I think it's kinda crazy to think Yzerman won't be there in 5 years even if they don't make the playoffs over the next two years. I think he's got an extremely long leash with what Yzerman was left.
Seider will suck up every last penny of the cap space, else maybe they sign him one year and then go long term next year when they have day one cap space.
You say gms are smart enough to not make a signing based on a two month span, and I say Johan Franzen. You're right that *most* gms are smart enough. Lol
My only concern with seider is how long can his body take the amount of abuse it is getting at this pace? If he gets 8.5+ for 8 years and 2 years from now he is on LTIR it screws the team
I guess it screws the team because they wouldn't have Seider on the ice, but if he's on LTIR his contract doesn't count towards the team cap hit so I don't see how that matters.
I forgot to say , Redwings will make the playoffs , win the first round and lose it in the second round to either NY Rangers or NY devils they wont loose to Toronto or Ottawa
Hi Red Wings fans, i am not watching NA hockey much thanks to time differences. I wonder how did Rychlovský look so far? Do you think there is chance he makes NHL in future? Everybody here is talking about Kulich, Kulich, Kulich and no mention of Rychlovský.
He is slated for Grand Rapids' 24/25 season, which will be his first appearance in the AHL. Everyone has a chance to reach the NHL, a lot has to go right and Jakub probably has a worse starting point as a 23-year-old today. It could also be that he is a late bloomer (Peter Forsberg was one) or that he needed time to prepare for NA hockey. Like most Czechia players, there are things that speak in his favor. It is now he needs to prove what he has as a ceiling and as a low mark. Then it's not too often that I see some of GR's matches during the season not even replays. I as a Swede follow Redwing live instead works better with my work.

Fedorov was a bona fide superstar.

@JackHoepner tell anyone who played with or against Sergei that he wasn't a superstar. 😂

A great deal. Thought Raymond would get 8.3-8.4
Love the 8 years.
Ok, just Seider left! Thanks for the podcast boys! See you at camp this weekend Max!

I live in norway and am playing beer league on an nhl-size rink. So there are many of those here.
A four man podcast just feels right
In the next 4 years a lot of good players are retired. So the RW are in good position
My prediction is MBN will blow the house down and make the team , he is a Draisitle acvisiton . He is what the Wings have missed the last 8-9 years . they have playoff style players, but they'll need to add via trades or ufa to round out a contender.

If Seider goes long term I'll say 8x8.5
Brad is great but also the king of moving goalposts. 10 years JFC
I hope Mo does a team discount to give them the chance to win the cup
I hope so too, don't see it happening unless Mo REALLY pushes to sign a team friendly deal bc that's the ONLY way Claude would do that.
Maybe deferred money. He shouldn't give much of a discount. He's really good and deserves appropriate compensation.
Yeah, he'll take $8.55m instead of $8.60m.
Seider will suck up every last penny of the cap space, else maybe they sign him one year and then go long term next year when they have day one cap space.

Even Max doesn't understand the Jarvis contract 🤦
LGRW 🐙 🐙 🐙
I hope Seider signs for 8.69 😎
Not sure what game Max was watching but second game Danielson looked a little underwhelming offensively.
My only concern with seider is how long can his body take the amount of abuse it is getting at this pace? If he gets 8.5+ for 8 years and 2 years from now he is on LTIR it screws the team
He's 23 not 33. Let's give him the benefit of the doubt he's gonna take care of himself on the ice before writing him off to ltir eh?
I guess it screws the team because they wouldn't have Seider on the ice, but if he's on LTIR his contract doesn't count towards the team cap hit so I don't see how that matters.
YEYEYEYEYEYEYEYEYEYEYEYEYE

Max is boring as hell. Imho.
Hater wtf
Welcome Max 🔥🫱🏽🫲🏼
