- UNVEILING MY TWO NEW (OLD) LOUD #MercedesAMG cars!! Welcome back to Remove Before Race guys!! And today is a personal video but one sharing a feeling and fear we all fear: the future of performance cars!
I’ve bought two Old AMGs for my permanent collection, as newer cars are becoming quieter thanks to EU regs imposing emission controls and noise regulations: the dreaded OPF in the New C63S and most new cars as an example!
First car of my permanent collection is the C63 black - the C63 has always been to me the quintessential AMG, taking a standard Mercedes and shoehorning a huge 6.2 litre engine! That engine is the highlight, still used in today’s GT3 racing car so a worthy first entry.
Now To join the collection: the #AMG C63 S Coupé Motorsport Edition 1!! I love the C63S of the 205 gen, and I had always figured another like this would be made which i’d wait for... BUT sadly the C63R or whatever it was to be called has been cancelled! 🤐 And then the news of the next C63 being 4 cylinder... pushed me over. Video on that topic coming soon! I tried the new facelift car, which has better suspension, AMG dynamics, digital interior and updated looks: BUT it’s quieter like all new cars are required to be!
So I bought the Pre facelift Edition 1 inspired by the insane C63 DTM racing car. It’s a loud one with sound near on GT R levels! Unlike the 204 series, this is a much more dynamic car thanks to dynamic engine mounts as seen in the GT R, & the engine is the same family as the AMG GT R with the Hot V engine producing 510BHP! Before it came out we all worried the shift to turbo would mean bad sound, but this incredible and unhindered 4.0 V8 is louder than the black in most situations! Like the the black, it has a unique front and rear wide body vs the normal.
Next is the original A45: every stable needs a great hot hatch: and while the A45S is a sports car in the compact segment, that’s not necessarily what makes a great hot hatch! The A45 was a disruptive product, one that worries AMG customers as it was new territory, but one that eventually became one of the most fun and loud cars they’ve ever made!

Any of you share this fear many of us in the industry have of future performance cars? What is in your ideal garage?
Many of you asking: why not aftermarket exhaust? Some unfortunate facts of the future: sale of aftermarket systems will soon be banned in the EU, it's been proposed many times already and the tuners are shitting it. Removal of OPF is really needed for better "stock" sound, but this voids MOT and thus car is illegal. Also, good luck making your 2024 AMG GT 4 cylinder sound anything but a shit-box with an aftermarket exhaust. 😅

Of course a 4 cylinder will never sound as great as a 8 but it has its own distinct sound.

Imo the A45 should get the new diffuser with the brabus engine upgrade. The C63 should be kept to its original look to be appreciated in the coming future.
Reasons like these are why I’ll never sell my 204 507 or SLS... Even the 164 ML63 we have sounds pretty damn good!!

You're missing a significant issue: it's not About the exhaust in itself, it's About the OPF which as soon as a car is fitted with one you cannot legally remove and which eats A LOT of the Sound. With an OPF built in the makers themselves IMO are already doing everything they can when it Comes to exhaust notes, there's a ton of Clips showing that Akrapovic et al only Change tone but not loudness. Which - to top it all of - would be illegal as well nowadays. Basically if you're a fan of Sound, don't buy an OPF car :)

I still haven't recovered from when F1 cars went from V10s to V8 to V6s and now they're 4 Cylinders!
Such a large part of the passion of driving stems from the sound of the engine and the feeling that it is _alive_.
I test-drove a Tesla a few years ago; and it left cold. Sure the performance is pretty impressive; but feels too digital...
You can use the "Emotion start" on the newer cars to get that old school startup sound. Hold the left gear paddle on start up.

I have recently bought the current E63s, fully optioned up here in Australia where the tighter Exhaust Laws are yet to come in. Like you, I agree that Exhaust notes as we have known them (and even the V8 Engine) will become ‘memories’ in the not too distant future; so applaud your ‘buying spree’. As to whether you should update the Bodies? You bought them for what they are; not sure adding ‘bits & pieces’ will do any justice to your original thought process - Classics are there to be enjoyed for what they were at the time they were released, in all their original Glory. Keep up your wonderful Vlogs - some of the VERY BEST out there.
W204 C63 still looks the best to me.

Exactly what I'm thinking. I've already started to look for a 2017 AMG C63 S. And the good thing is, the prices for the w205 is really affordable now, it's like half of what it was when it got released. Was really looking forward to the 2019/2020 versions because of all the new tech, virtual cockpit, dials on the steering wheel, and was SO disappointed when the face lifted C63S that has everything I've wanted... except for the engine and exhaust noise, which is what defines an AMG!!! I was so looking forward to the 2019 C63S after watching your review of the matte black one you tested in your previous videos and then to only find out of the new EU regulations
Don't even want to imagine what a 4 cyl AMG would sound like.
Great video and this is exactly why I went out and bought an M2 Comp. Yes, it has already been impacted by OPF etc but better than what is to come and the right amount of power for public roads

Facelift C63S plus RENNtech downpipes and ECU remap would probably sound as good (or nearly as good but with fewer pops/crackles).

@@DanielSadjadian depends on where you live. In any German city they will notice and just test it and they can impound the car if the police man feels like it should be impounded without any evidence. It´s a pain in the ass. Otherwise I agree and would prefer a faceliftet c63s with a modded exhaust.

I am convinced with all your videos presentations.. my first Mercedes Benz collection was the C36 owned it in 1999.. until today i have been the AMG ownership with the AMG S Class and the AMG CLS. As an owner of a 2019 facelift cla 45, if u option sport exhaust it’s much louder than pre facelift.
Raz I gotta say, it's not many a time one comes across a person who knows his cars as much as you do. Yeah you are absolutely right, if you have a car from an era you love jump for it. New isn't always cool as we see with today's developments. With the A45 I'm sure a little bit more power wouldn't hurt anybody...😁

Bought my dream c63s 2015 model, i dont have anything else so i will use it as a daily, it has 120,000kms i hope i didn’t make a mistake but its so worth it!

Each year I participate in AMG sporting winter events and have always hated CLA45 and A45. They don’t sound that good and gearbox is crap and so is its AWD. If you are driving them in anger you will be very disappointed. As a daily driver might be fine but track or winter drifting is just so frustrating. Electronics interfere all the time even when everything is disabled. C63 all the way in any circumstances. Yes, it is much more expensive but man, how much better is that car. Still my favorite is GT63 4door it is unattainable for most.

Swap out the grille and bumper, it may be sharing the grille with the GLB but that car could never look as good as this.

I was wondering what had happened to the C 63 R, saw the track photos with the wing and wanted to see what was going on... shame to hear it was cancelled.
And out of interest, I saw the Audi R8 reviews from both you and The Straight Pipes... the difference in sound between Euro and US exhaust specs should be made illegal.
After 4yrs looking i found a preface lift ed1 sedan with carbon ceramic in brand new condition,the sound of this thing is crazy.
Does it actually have a different sound compared to the "normal" pre facelift c63? thx
@Schaufelor yes the face lift models are definatley more quiet and less aggressive in the exhaust/engine sound department.
I have a C63 W205 estate stage 2 and it is a keeper. Sounds like hell has opened and is the last breed.
Spent an hour at mb world in a c63s facelift .pops and bangs are numerous but not as loud as the the pre facelift and no whip crack up shifts. But otherwise the car was very complicated with all its modes etc but definitely a step up from the pre facelift in many ways except character , the pre facelift felt slightly more analogue.
Gotta love a 45, their upshift whip crack shifts and down shift crackles and pops are unbeatable . Couple that with poor cabin sound insulation and you get one of the best aural experiences out there

ssshu yeah some downpipes and sports CATs should do it. Although aftermarket pop/crackle ECU tunes never seem to sound as good as OEM ones.
The Edition 1 would probably hold better value in the long term
Soon aftermarket exhaust sales will be banned, I've tested brabus already and it's still nowhere near stock pre-facelift. That time has passed
Remove Before Race true but people will still get them installed, at least for a little while. Getting a decat is also illegal, but people still do it.

Can you not just fit an Aftermarket Exhaust? Then you have the new tech with the great sound.
No, because the Sound does not only come from the exhaust. Pops and bangs are from the software, aftermaked exhaust just make it louder, but no sound, just noise

@@FireIceGamer of course, but for new cars with warranty this is no option, also the new exhaust. I dont know how it is in your country, but in Germany BMW is very restrictive, the police is checking sporty cars very frequently in bigger citys, every easy visible modifkation like a different exhaust will be notices and your car shut withdrawn.

My prediction; the c43 will become a four cylinder whilst the c63 will inherit a tuned version of the 53 mild hybrid turbo six.

Niklas depends on what you want... but if you just want to go fast quickly and easily (A45 appeal) you’re better off with a remapped S3 or Golf R, much better built and cheaper cars.

Exactly my thought, I loved the grill when it came out with the gt but I don't want the same face as a glb 35 on my actual AMG.
They ruined and overused that design
They should have also kept the option of the diamond grill, that was stunning as well.
The C63S Coupé Edition1 is my personal favorite AMG of all time from the exclusivity, the spec, and it’s louder then the facelift model, the interior spec just the whole car is worth its money 🤓😁🙏🏾, also like the Gen 1 A45 AMG, also I would keep the C63S Coupé Edition1 as is 🤓, I hope one day I can find a C63S Coupé Edition1, if I do I would never sell it 🤓🙅🏾♂️
Awesome video beautiful cars. The C63 yes do change the grill and the A45 them wheels are mint and again yes I would put a rear diffuser on and a suggestion as I owned a 2017 A200 and the rear lights on your A45 don’t do the car justice. However brilliant content

I reckon you've done enough "damage" (in a very good way) to both cars. I think you really don't need to bring anything face-lift to them. I feel they are of better value, as close to original as possible.

Where are these nee filters? What can I do to improve the sound? I have spoken to a couple of tuners up north who haven’t come back to me about a remap or exhaust alteration/replacement. If theres a man in the know I know it’s you
