  • So, how’s the Camp Chef Woodwind Wi-Fi 36-inch pellet grill? To answer that, we loaded up resident madman Chef Tony with thermocouples, calipers, and tongs to suss out this popular smoking solution’s performance, quality, and features. Camp Chef Woodwind holds up as a great contender for its class: respectable materials and craftsmanship, bountiful features, and solid smoking and grilling performance all around. From the Smart Smoke technology to the modular upper rack, there’s lots to love here - but our standout has to be the Slide and Grill diffuser plate, controlled by a handy knob. It pivots from direct to indirect heating on the fly, all without lifting the lid or moving a single component. Here’s what Chef Tony had to say: “The direct flame provides enough heat to get a nice crust before the inside is over-done. Whereas a pellet grill without the option of the direct flame does make it a little bit hard to sear a steak without just kind of, you know, baking it through.” We’re confident you won’t go wrong with the Camp Chef Woodwind. If you need more convincing, that play button above is eager to show you all that smoky, mahogany bark on the chef’s jam-packed feast!

    Chef Tony Matassa grew up in the restaurant business, starting in his family’s New Orleans eatery before running one of his own. No wonder he has such vast knowledge of and passion for food science, which he puts to use every day as our jack-of-all-trades (and master of many). Longtime fans of the channel know Tony has been testing grills for more than 10 years, though we’re partial to his performance in our recent Grillabilities℠ series.

    This is one of the best pellet smoker reviews I have seen. I really like these guys. And I’ll be watching more of their content I’m sure

    I have this grill. I bought it because of the extra head room above the top grates. I did 6 pork butts. 18 hours later, the one on bottom left was done about an hour sooner than the rest, just rotated it out with the top right. I feel if the fire pot was in the center of the grill the heat would be more even. Overall I feel this grill is great, and dollar for dollar a better value that Traeger. Just my two cents.

      How is the cleaning of the grill as far getting rid of the grease for a cook? I'm assuming you can't put aluminum foil on the drip tray

    Andersons smoke show owns and did a review of this same Camp Chef model and loves it. I wonder how the Victory pellet grill would stack up to the Camp Chef that you reviewed not to long ago.

      @@BBQGuys it does looks like the Victory is lacking in some areas probably because it’s not a 1k grill like the Camp Chef. But it does come with a better warranty.

    Is that a small fire when the deflector is moved? Like only one steak at a time small?

    • @BBQGuys
      @BBQGuys  2 года назад

      Yep. It's a fire just the size of the firepot where the pellets burn.
