The most informative, no nonsense explanation I’ve seen so far. I just wasted my time on several other videos. Wish I came across this one first. Thanks for the well spoken advice.
Read the reviews, on various sites, of the Frost King RWS5 removable weather stripping. Terrible. I don't believe they even make it any longer so what you buy is probably old stock.
Ugh that is tough. If you apply clear removable caulk or weather strip you won't be able to open and close wihtout reapplying. Every product I have seen is for temp use over winter then remove in spring. I should invent something!
sorry I missed this. Weatherseal is good to use all year and still open windows. Only items that do not allow you to open window is the plastic film and the temporary caulk. You must remove them to open the window. I use them Dec - March
Thank you for these tips. This educated lady looks like a millionaire who can probably afford state-of-the-art thermal insulation. But still, for us shanty town dwellers it is valuable advice.
Ha. Educated yes. Millionaire no, secure yes and very grateful. I grew up in a paycheck to paycheck home. I am all about helping folks save money, time and stress. I remember tough times as a kid. I feel compelled to help others if I can ;)

Thank you for this info! I’ve been wondering how to seal that middle part where the lock is, we lost so much heat from drafts last year.

What do you suggest to do if condensation appears on the inside of the plastic film?
Thank you so much!
I want to know if you still get ice and condensation on the window after you use one of those shrink wrap kits.

What can you use to seal double hung windows that gap on the left or right side seeing how they have to still slide up and down?

They have different thickness of gaskets or they also make brass ones that can be bent for best fit and was more common on older doors and windows.
With the plastic and double sided tape why use anything else ? That alone gives me an airtight seal.
The Japanese have the same custom.👍
Really great video. Thank you for posting this and by a female!
Thank you
what if I want to open my window at times?

for that little gap on top don't use that removable sealant caulk ! Get yourself a roll of closed cell backer rod .
How does that stay on for you?
@@DIYHIPChicks no problem , they have different sizes and you can push them in the gap and pull them out when not needed anymore
Funny how she says the tape looks bad, but the shirk wrap doesn't?!
my windows won’t lock 😭
UR awesome thank you
Thank you. Just trying to help homeowners!
Ya how about the bad chemicals on those
The double sided tape didn’t come off my wooden window frames. Looks terrible and I’ll never buy again.
Sorry it did not work for you. I have have great results for years.
