After watching other people "play" this new game, and watching the simple mistakes people make (which are understandable), I'd just like to express my joy at watching your let's plays Marbozir. I am certainly a lot more appreciative of what you do, and the work you put into this. Been a fan of yours since the early parts of civ 5. Keep up the great work, and thank you!
Looking foward for every video you make about Civ6, thanks for being so good at this game and teach us while entertaining. Hope your channel grows a lot.

FYI, Quill played a deity game (offline) as Scythia. Steamrolled the map, apparently. Either Deity is not what it used to be, or Scythia is OP. Well Scythia is OP regardless, actually :P
She may need a nerf. On the prelease version, Marbs completed domination in 4 eps. The double light cav ability will mean she's likely to be banned in multi.
Such a strange start. Both amazing in terms of potential yields and city locations, and crappy in terms of meeting other civs and getting resources. Might lead to a fun game, though. :v
I've been hyped for this game for a while now (I'm a slightly sub average player, (Play on prince or king), but when I saw the base game being 80$ Canadian, I cried on the inside. Time to wait for a sale.......
Yes, I gotta say that I'm enjoying the gameplay. Versus others in this "industry". I've found that I like "M"'s production MUCH better than a lot of his competition! He talks you through his play with dialog on why he does what he does, makes a move and it's informative and instructive. Talks about the bonuses and synergies and moves on. Often, many "hosts" will fill the gameplay with indecisive thoughts and there will be lots of "empty air"... frick'n move on already! I've subscribed an so should you.
This was one of the best videos i have watched. Might be because I know that this is the first of the thousand never ending videos Marbs is gonna do about Civ 6 :)
I really appreciate that you didn't skip the Leader Blurb that is narrated from Sean Bean. That was my biggest complaint and the #1 thing I hated from you doing Civ 5 games.
i hope that you will have more subs soon as Civ 6 has came out bro! Really enjoy your contents! i sometimes have insomnia and ur vids realy help me sleep, tks i guess :^)
Starting isolated like that is a problem if you want the full experience of the game. In some ways it makes it easy because you are not competing for space, but you are also limited. Given that, your island is actually pretty good (Wonder, decent resources, tundra for synergy with Russia). It will probably make the game interesting as you have to deal with the isolation, though your home is initially reasonably protected. (See Great Britain) Thanks for sharing this with us and good luck!
+Marbozir YES, I am excited! I was waiting for this the longest time! But... where is episode 15? You're slacking! ;P Just kidding - but I can't wait for the next episode already! Keep them coming! :)
If you waited 3 turns you could've bought a trireme. It costs 220g if I'm not mistaken. But nice start nonetheless and good luck, Marbs. Hope you enjoy Civ 6!
wants to get 2 cities, putting one there uses up 2 good locations for 1 city. and as you know he's already lacking other good options. better to separate a bit and make 2 cities that are good instead of one that takes everything.
So far I have played 4 Civ VI games, and I think that it will be good to go early wars. No diplomatic penalties, civs are close to each others, a little room to expand.
Overlap isn't a big issue win civ6, settling cities close to each other isn't a problem. Settling a city on fresh water if possible is always the best option.
In Civ IV, no barbarian camp could spawn within 5 or 6 tiles of a unit. It'd be an interesting test to see how close they can spawn to a unit, or if they only have to be in the fog, whatever to optimize fog busting strats.
Quill already played at Diety and was complaining how easy it was. I was hoping to see a full play through at that difficulty... any reason why only emperor?
***** I played tutorial in a game, though i had to go to exam. Still i have no idea what im doing.when playing i just clicked random buttons and upgraded, while it always said i'm first.
Imo cities placed right next to tundra can still be very efficient. Place districts on tundra plains, mine and work all tundra hills and forest, and then farm the shit out of everything else. An all tundra city isn't that bad as long as it has good production, at least for Russia anyway.
Not that button. I was talking about demographic screen from Civ 5 where it shows how much population you have in thousands, millions or how much GDP you have..
Hmm, well GDP you can see when you mouse over and stay with the gold coins at the top and you get more detailed information in "view reports" and the city report of each city, but you're right, you can no longer see your overall population in millions. It treats the pops as if each one was only one citizen ("7 Taoist citizens"...). I'm sure updates or mods will add that soon.
Do you lose Russia's Tundra bonus when you improve the tile or are the yields just hiding? The citizen icon that shows if a tile is worked is way too big.
They are actually there, it's just all the symbols are in layers. So the big citizen face icon for working/worker locking the tile comes on top of the extra icons. If you zoom in really close you'll see all the icons even in management mode. Otherwise the citizen face icon is so large that it covers the second row of icons. One somehow wonders what kind of screen resolution they tested this game on ...
Nice find. About your resolution question, I think they were optimizing this for the 4K resolution(s). It might seem silly now, but in 2 years I think that 4K will be quite common. Just speculation though :)
Bugs galore... This would've been the greatest civ to date if not for all the game breaking bugs. Very sad... I've had my own leader declaring war on my civ - even a formal war with a civ I hadnt met yet, I've had a game where almost every other civ didnt settle any cities, I've had a game with 3 barbarian camps around my capital at the start - spamming horse archers and horsemen units. The trade agreements are completely scewred - AI wont trade luxury for luxury even if we are declared friends with no negative modifiers. The list goes on and on...
Yes I'm sure. The barbs might not be a bug, but there's a high chance you are screwed early on if those three camps find you and start spamming horsemen and horse archers. The issue of me declaring war on my own civ is obviously a bug. Only happened once so far though.
Yes, also civs will refuse to give you an extra luxury if you're not allied with them and you actually need it for faster city growth - they want to win. But if they have very few luxuries themselves, they'll pay you a lot of gold for one of yours. With the barbs, it's easiest du follow the scout right away and eliminate the camp (one warrior one slinger should suffice). Later ideally post look-outs so you have no fog of war near your settlements - new camps spawn only in fog of war. But yes, there are still a bunch of diplomacy bugs (ot things we simply haven't figured out yet).
I thought that barbarian scouts won't take workers in Civ VI? I don't think you have to worry about your builder with enemy scouts. Other combat units will still take them.
Interesting, I thought I would play along (only changing the other civs - I let them all be random) but even from popping the goodie huts the game turned out differently, their location was the same but the content was not (I think) - I got Scout, some gold, irrigation boost and a relic. Interesting discovery is that there are actually two continents on the island (or what I assume is an island and the mountain just isn't a cut off point. If you stand on the north most copper (north of the mountain range) I found the other continent with my scout. Not to many turns in and the game is already starting to diverge from your play. But it's a great gameplay feature to have the different seeds - also for some replayability on the same map.
Yes I did. As I mentioned the only difference was the randomization of the AI opponents. That said they seem to be acting in more or less the same way anyway - there is rampant wars vs the city states from the AI. The content of the huts made me go religion since the first one I got was a relic so I founded the second religion in the game - while Mar didn't manage to get one. That said going religion might not have been the best idea on this isolated map since it suffers a bit from the distance to the people I have to convert. I think huts might just be one of them things that are not seed dependent but randomized each time. The location is fixed - I found huts in all the same places but the content have been different. Easy to check really - save the game before a hut. Take hut. Not content. Reload. Pop again and see if it changes.
How did you raise your amenities? I don't understand how it works. I checked the game's wiki and it said there is a specific tech upgrade that grants me the ability to build a Zoo or a Stadium. but it's too advanced. How do I raise amenities in early game?
Yes, you need to have them within the territory of one of your cities (you can buy border tiles or wait for your border to expand by itself from culture). Then build a farm, plantation or mine on top of the luxury resource, depending on which type it is. Hope this helps!
No, I have not been refreshing until this video popped... You crazy!
I've just been obsessively checking back every 30min or so.

Marbozir, barbarian scouts DO NOT capture workers and settlers.

Whoa, that scared me I thought my computer was going batshit crazy
Yeah, I paused it too, to see if it's from the video or from my monitor/computer. I wonder what caused it.
BoilingHotCoffee ikr, my iPad just got static screen and broke, so I got a new iPad mini and I was so scared.
hey mabozir are you going do deity twin with quill18 again?? i really hope can watch it in future.
No idea. I'd like to.

I love your vids. You are Feeling the game Marbozir! Keep up the great work. And thank you for being so kind to all of the people around you.
I've been hyped for this game for a while now (I'm a slightly sub average player, (Play on prince or king), but when I saw the base game being 80$ Canadian, I cried on the inside. Time to wait for a sale.......
KleanUpSqad I know your pain man, it's $90 in Australia ;-;
In Brazil, it's $130 for the normal version, and $190 for the deluxe version...
I know, but I was saying just the values.
-_-
sucks for you, In the US its cheaper through steam sales

This was one of the best videos i have watched. Might be because I know that this is the first of the thousand never ending videos Marbs is gonna do about Civ 6 :)
Who else is taking a break from Civ to watch Marbz play Civ?
I really appreciate that you didn't skip the Leader Blurb that is narrated from Sean Bean. That was my biggest complaint and the #1 thing I hated from you doing Civ 5 games.
Amazing! This is going to be so much fun to watch! Also the audio levels are wonderful. Please keep them this way.
An amazing start is an understatement. Like you say "holy crap." :)
That start was extremely accurate for st petersburg
So mad that you didn't scout that one little tile next to the amazing campus spot
i hope that you will have more subs soon as Civ 6 has came out bro!
Really enjoy your contents!
i sometimes have insomnia and ur vids realy help me sleep, tks i guess :^)
Noone I trust more to introduce me to Civ 6. Salute Marbozir!!
Cossacks are a unique unit so they don't require strategic resources to produce
Tanks Explosions Anime cossack units require horses, otherwise they are worthless
Finally! I have been waiting for this all day!
There is an amazing tile for an industrial zone northeast of the copper as well!
Starting isolated like that is a problem if you want the full experience of the game. In some ways it makes it easy because you are not competing for space, but you are also limited. Marb, I think Barbarian scouts cant, or wont take your settlers or builders. BUT cant wait to watch all your CIV6 videos man!
Yay! I'm happy for full release Civ 6 videos! Please play as China someday?
+Marbozir YES, I am excited! I was waiting for this the longest time! But... where is episode 15? You're slacking! ;P
Just kidding - but I can't wait for the next episode already! Keep them coming! :)
Great Video as always Marbs!
I`m having Baba Yetu playing in the background while watching this. So good
Very nice, was definitely looking forward to this series. What's going to be your release schedule? Every 24 hours?
If you waited 3 turns you could've bought a trireme. It costs 220g if I'm not mistaken. But nice start nonetheless and good luck, Marbs. Hope you enjoy Civ 6!
Hey Marbozir, how often will you be releasing each episode for this series? Great work and keep it up!
Thanks for the upload, much appreciated
it be nice marb that we can see you civiliazations zoomed in
I like how people play around Eureka boosts. "I have this awesome Campus slot I want to use asap, but I won't do it because I can't get the boost."
You are simply wonderful M.
This should be fun, with Russia stuck on a small landmass in the North! Looks like some decent naval campaign possible here!
Cheers, Ivan :D
Hey, weren't you the guy who did the stories? Cheers, Ivan.
Truestm Yup!! Too bad Real Life has made things too crazy for me to keep that up. Those were a ton of fun!
Cheers, Ivan :D
Ivan Dogovich
rip. cheers, ivan
I've been refreshing this non stop too lol, was wondering what civ you would be playing as
Finally full release, let's see how it plays!!!
What difficulty is this? I can't see it anywhere on starting screen.
EDIT: Thanks :)
I believe it's Emperor for this playthrough
life4nina
Keep em comming
Barb scouts dont steal workers/settlers btw, great vid.
So sick starting location : 3
Keep em coming!
Why don't you settle the other tile that works as a canal city and it's next to the wonder?
wants to get 2 cities, putting one there uses up 2 good locations for 1 city. and as you know he's already lacking other good options. better to separate a bit and make 2 cities that are good instead of one that takes everything.
So far I have played 4 Civ VI games, and I think that it will be good to go early wars. No diplomatic penalties, civs are close to each others, a little room to expand.
A three-tile canal city. It's like a unicorn!
awww damn after seeing quill get wrecked by immortal was soetof hoping to see you try diety :D
Hi can you tell me what graphics card you are using. Also, would nvidia Gefore 940mx be good enough for laptop gameplay? thanks.
Since you got insane faith output a religious victory may be viable. It would be interesting to see a new victory type
Couldn't you add missing from preview civilizations as additional AIs or did you feel it would be to crowded there?
I think I never watch a Marbozir LP where he have iron within his borders when he research the tech... ever
remember you can build aqueducts so you don't need to settle on the fresh water near the wonder
Uses up a tile for an aqueduct though
Yeah but it would've sorta prevented overlap,
Fair enough
Overlap isn't a big issue win civ6, settling cities close to each other isn't a problem. Settling a city on fresh water if possible is always the best option.
Thanks Marbs :)
Marb Goddamit, I did not even finished watching Kongo !!!!
Love this playtrough allready

*****
I played tutorial in a game, though i had to go to exam.
Still i have no idea what im doing.when playing i just clicked random buttons and upgraded, while it always said i'm first.
i feel it, deity twins, are coming back...
Lol I just realised the background music for Russia is one of the tracks from the Grand Budapest Hotel soundtrack
Imo cities placed right next to tundra can still be very efficient. Place districts on tundra plains, mine and work all tundra hills and forest, and then farm the shit out of everything else. An all tundra city isn't that bad as long as it has good production, at least for Russia anyway.
I thought I recognized the narrators voice in the game as Sean Bean, sweet
You probably already know by now, but Warriors, Scouts and Slingers don't have any gold maintenance cost.
When I play Russia I like having the Extend Borders religion thing lol.
This start, on Emperor, ya, this game is already over! This is like a unicorn start, no use playing anymore I don't think it'll ever get better.....
I already have about 200+ turns into the game and it bothers me too much that there is no demographic screen. What happened to that feature?
Milan Pavlovic It's the first button beside the leader portrait on the upper right...
Maybe in two years or so. Thanks for reply.
All those mountain tiles!!
Hey marbozir, what are your PC's specs ?
Do you lose Russia's Tundra bonus when you improve the tile or are the yields just hiding? The citizen icon that shows if a tile is worked is way too big.
No, it's still there, it's just that the game seemingly can't display more than 3 different types of yields on a tile you're working.
They are actually there, it's just all the symbols are in layers. So the big citizen face icon for working/worker locking the tile comes on top of the extra icons. Lysblink Are you sure you have the retail game? I have almost no bugs. And three barbarian camps is pretty normal, not a bug.
Yes I'm sure. The barbs might not be a bug, but there's a high chance you are screwed early on if those three camps find you and start spamming horsemen and horse archers. The issue of me declaring war on my own civ is obviously a bug. Only happened once so far though.
many of those aren't bugs. this isnt civ 4. get used to a harder difficulty (aka worse trades for you until you have many positive conditions)
Yes, also civs will refuse to give you an extra luxury if you're not allied with them and you actually need it for faster city growth - they want to win. Let 'em have it, Marbs! :)
So, how exactly would I get the same game? I needed to have pre-ordered it since Atzecks are in the game, correct?
Victor Archavski good question! but maybe the preorder only adds them as a *playable* civ?
I thought that barbarian scouts won't take workers in Civ VI? I don't think you have to worry about your builder with enemy scouts. Other combat units will still take them.
why only on Emperor?
and are you and Quill purposely playing the same Civ and map?
Russian location means slightly less likely to get rushed by _Horse_ barbarians though. So secretly a buff maybe?
Marb, you were in appeal map mode. Great work though
Finally!Yes!Yes!Yes!Yes!
what difficulty is this played on only the top difficulty is game to watch when its you that play...rest is way too easy.
Why is there zero mention of the difficulty level?
Interesting, I thought I would play along (only changing the other civs - I let them all be random) but even from popping the goodie huts the game turned out differently, their location was the same but the content was not (I think) - I got Scout, some gold, irrigation boost and a relic.

Not to many turns in and the game is already starting to diverge from your play. But it's a great gameplay feature to have the different seeds - also for some replayability on the same map.
looorg Did you also pick the same difficulty? Maybe that changed the goodie huts?
Thanks for explaining the differences - I wasn't sure how much was fixed just from the random seed.
fkcing love that music
what a op start
is he playing on diety yet? I havent watched the vid im just soaking in the moment
Did anyone else notice the video becoming static around 35:14 ?? Or am I just completely losing my mind?
That's a Great Vajuju wonder to the south.
what's the endslate music?
You know what can be fun? If I send you my save files and you play from there. I suck at this game so hard, that is a true extreme difficulty
How did you raise your amenities? I don't understand how it works.
I checked the game's wiki and it said there is a specific tech upgrade that grants me the ability to build a Zoo or a Stadium. but it's too advanced.
How do I raise amenities in early game?
Roee With luxury resources, then with entertainment centers and their buildings (arena etc.).
Cascade617 How do you collect the luxury resources? just step on them with any unit? or with a builder and I must do something to the tile?
Yes, you need to have them within the territory of one of your cities (you can buy border tiles or wait for your border to expand by itself from culture). Then build a farm, plantation or mine on top of the luxury resource, depending on which type it is. Hope this helps!
Maybe also play the tutorial instead of heading straight to the game, I think it explains these things better. :-)
Cascade617 I have, but it was a little overwhelming for a first time in a strategic game.. It took me 2+ hours :P
Nice one
Why don't you want barbarian settlements to spawn?
Finally!
Spices on tundra.. yeah how about that? :D What spice does grow on hoarfrost tundra landscape I wonder.
Cheeki Breeki is gud Spice in Motherland!
