Doesn't matter how many kits you build, they are always such a fun and rewarding endeavour mate! Those shocks look a vast improvement on the stock pogo sticks, and should definitely help the ride. The body looks awesome, reminds me of a wasp! Lexan bodies are never easy, especially when you are going with a two tone scheme.... doesn't matter how well you mask, there's always a bleed or two. A good tip is to apply a layer of clear coat first, this helps seal the masking prior to the colour layers. But, all in all a great job there my friend.... Look forward to seeing it in action Fil. 👍 👍 👍
@@poorboysrc Yes matey.... It's a bit more time and effort (and expense!) but definitely pays off in the long run, especially if it's a body of extreme value or scarcity. I was sceptical at first, but have had great results. Nothing worse than a bleeding mask line! 👍 👍 👍
One tip regarding the rear suspension - in High position, it tends to pop the driveshafts due to poor geometry. I found on my mid motor MF that it's better to assemble the rear axle to low height spec and then lift suspension by cutting into arms where they collide with the hub and using longer damper eyelets - it should work on the standard build aswell.
Paint is a pain, worse on Lexan as hard as you try to mask well somehow it will bleed somewhere or the spray will get through. But decals do hide a lot and odd spare decals can be used to hide it a little. Still spray cans are better, when I started for lexan bodies only brush on and the paint had a very strong odour.
It's definitely a good looking body, I've always been a fan of Fiats. I've owned about 8 of them over the years and they've all been brilliant reliable cars. I just finished my first ever Tamiya kit a couple of days ago (rally beetle) and I was pleasantly surprised by how quick it was with the torque tuned motor. I'll be upgrading to oil shocks soon because it was bouncing around all over the place on gravel.
Oh nice, I'd love to own one of these older, boxy Fiats. Anything old and boxy does it for me, really, haha. Hope your build went smooth. The MF-01x really scoots pretty good with the TT motor, doesn't it? Oil shocks are a game changer, too! Enjoy your upgrades and thanks for watching and commenting. 👍🏻🍻
@@poorboysrc Yeah, the tt motor is perfect for this chassis. I'm painting a mk2 escort shell tomorrow. I'm doing it in yellow, because my wife had a yellow mk2 escort when I met her. It was a 2 door with round headlights, just like the tamiya shell. I'll stick some footage of it up on my channel in the next few days once it's done. All my videos so far are to do with my motorbike. There's some maintenance videos, and runs round the Highlands of Scotland. It'd be good to mix the channel up a bit with some rc content. 👍

Hello Fil, I built the rally bug a few years ago. It is on the same 4wd chassis. I did not like the suspension set-up. I got the "Yeah Racing" wide set up. Even though it says wide it fits on the chassis perfect. It has lots of aluminum parts and looks good. It also works good too. If you can still buy this kit, I would recommend it. I think it might even work with the shocks that you installed. Thoughts?
Very interesting, I didn't know yeah racing made a wide kit for the MF-01x chassis. Thanks for the tip, I'm going to look into this, as the Fiat 131 could use a wider track stance and this might be the ticket. Cheers! 🍻
@@poorboysrc When I bought the kit was about $100.00 US dollars. When you consider all of the aluminum parts that you get, it is a good price. I found the kit on eBay if that helps.
And I just found it, and it's still available. I see the price has gone up, it's almost $200 Canadian dollars now to get it here, which is quite a bit. I'm going to keep searching and see if I can find it in Canada somewhere, so I don't have to pay the crazy shipping costs. Thanks again for the heads up!
@@poorboysrc Wow! That is really expensive. Ouch! I live in the USA and we do not have crazy shipping costs and we also do not have crazy tariffs either. At least not yet.
