Bro, you're giving out such good knowledge in your videos, I'm looking to rebuild a 3rd Gen Camaro and the tips you've shared are super helpful, you have one more subscriber, thank you and keep it up!!!
@@jarmelo2006 lol. It happens. My throttle body 305 Camaro in this video beat a lot of V6 Mustangs but couldn't hang with anything serious. I did give a small block 67 Camaro a run for his money one night tho, lol.
Woo! DRIVE IT LIKE YOU STOLE IT!! In the process of dropping in a crate engine with a bump stick built around the old L82 that should be good for 300/350 lbs. Lets hope the 87 700-R4 in my Formula can hold it! 🤞
83 z 35k miles been sitting for the last 13-15 yrs maybe longer I’m getting mixed advice from drain the oil to let the old oil and gas run so everything can settle? Also owned by a little old lady but she used to run from the police in our small city😂
The old gas won't help anything, especially the fuel pump and carburetor. The oil you can probably get away with but if there is any fuel in the oil it can was the rings and bearings and cause a failure. I'd personally change the oil and drain the tank. If budget allows, I'd look at maybe replacing the tank if she has sat that long.
@@shadygingergaragethanks very much for the advice tank will most likely be replaced either way due to the car being parked for issues with the fuel pump
Don't settle for a V6 car. Also, don't be afraid to buy a 305 car. They aren't the most powerful but they can be dead nuts reliable. The make enough power and noise to be fun but not so much power that they will eat the transmission. They will also take a fair bit of abuse as they are just as tough as the 350. You can always swap in a 350 later. The V6 (2.8/3.1) have a different bell house and fuel system than the V8s (5.0/5.7). The most important advice is to buy the best car you possibly can. You don't want a cheap trailer park builder unless you have several thousand dollars to throw at it. By then you could have bought a nice one. Also, don't start with an Iroc/Z28. As your first car you will make mistakes and accidents will happen. Cut your teeth with a cheap sport coupe then graduate up to an Iroc or a 350 car. Also, avoid t-top cars at first. They ALWAYS leak and when they rust they almost always rust in the WORST and WEIRDEST places. Later on if you have a garage to keep it in and when you have more skills to maintain the car you can play with t-tops.
My hood is a bolt on style steel hood so it mounts exactly like stock. On these cars the actuator is built into the hinge assembly. This cowl hood is surprisingly about 7 pounds lighter than my stock Iroc/Z28 hood.
@@shadygingergarage I like it because it is so uncommon. Most third gen Camaros/Firebirds that have survived are IRoCs, Z28s, RSs, TransAms, Formulas, GTAs etc. Change in the scenery is always good. Note: I remember seeing a black with gold trim and wheels Sport Coupe back in the `80s that was drop dead gorgeous.
@@johna.4334 Mine is kinda dressed up like an Iroc with the grill insert and the black paint around the headlights. Really all that makes my car not an Iroc are the sway bars and the fuel system.
I'm not an HVAC specialist so sorry, I'm not much help there. I recommend having a couple different shops diagnose it. You definitely want multiple opinions and first ask around to see what hvac techs are recommend in your area.
@@leniosousa4763 why, your not gaining anything if you do, your not going to lose any noticeable weight, those Harrison compressors weigh like 15 pounds and everybody that deletes them never removes the 2 pound condenser or the evaporator in the dash, they just unbolt the compressor and break the pipe off the evaporator. just get it fixed and enjoy it when you need it.
I did mention that you should check fluids. I also did a brake check. Unfortunately, because I didn't prep for the video properly, the low fuel level kinda put a wrench into the video. However, most of the cars I've ever bought were low on fuel which seems to be a common method for keeping buyers in a rush.
I somewhat agree but it cuts my under hood temperatures in half. That's a huge bonus considering these cars don't circulate air under the hood very well.
@@shadygingergarage Then how `bout getting an IRoC hood, cutting out the black hood indentations and replacing them with louvers? I've seen it done before here on YT and it looks and functions good.
@@johna.4334 I have two Iroc hoods but louvers are ungodly expensive and I'll have to look into guys "making them functional" but from what I know, that could get messy quick.

That good smell of rubber like smokin' the tires! lmmfao Better get some fuel brudda! That gauge worked on the walk around videos! Man you should have went gambling! I wouldn't have gotten out of the driveway with that little of fuel! You actually should keep enough fuel to cover the pump in the cars with in tank pumps. It will cool the pump and last longer. Yeah, I usually keep at least an 8th of a tank in it but I went cruising a couple weeks prior and ran out of funding for fuel, lol. She's got a 3/4 full tank right now.

THANK YOU!
I had a 1989 Firebird Formula that just impressed me. Amazing performing 305 5.0 LTR. I loved it.
The tuned port 305 is pretty good. The tuned port 350 still has more power but the 305 is still plenty of fun.
@@shadygingergarage Yeah. I learned that when I was racing a GTA out on I 220. The transAm was just more powerful.
@@jarmelo2006 it helps that the GTA has a posi rear and different gearing. As well as way beefier sway bars.
@@shadygingergarage Makes a lot of since. The formula outperformed many lil Honda's and some Nissans but the transAm Kicked my cars butt. Lol.

Is that a Berlinetta to the right?
Nope. It's an 84 Sport Coupe, 305/auto. There is no engine in it. It is otherwise complete.

did you charge it with r12 or 134, just asking because r12 is hard to find and it wont work if you used parts store refrigerant.
What brand hood is that ?
No clue. I bought it off of a forgotten project car a guy was parting out.
Is it for sale?

a way to change the oil right?
Yes, I do. Would have been great if the previous ten owners knew though.
