    I just replaced the passengers side seat control assembly with a little trouble with both clips not wanting to let go as you described to go to first in order to not break the little feet. Success and I replaced the passenger side seat adjustment conrtrol unit on my 1991 500SL. But then the drivers side was a different animal all together! The clips (and their both there with both feet) just did not want to release as I struggled with it for some time - and I’ve got an full assortment of nylon trim tools that I was using ‘gingerly’ to get it to release - but just would not give. So I thought it out and felt that if I use the flat (semi wide) edge of one of my other trim tools up on the front portion of the trim that by pushing directly backwards (not out) on it - that maybe it will give me the room to ‘pop’ it out the front way and bingo it did just that “right now” still have the unit dangling at my side now. So thought to stop and just mention this to you & others who also might get hung up on these clips not wanting to release. Key here is to pry gingerly backwards until the feet clear their grasp on the inner door panel. This is just food for thought for all who are replacing their seat adjustment units. Thank youy for your videos too - I’m a subscriber and study your ‘how to’ processes on all that I work on. Because at $195.00 an hour at the Mercedes Dealreship I’m not willing to pay that on something that I know I could do myself! So your videos are not only helpful BUT they are instructional to all of us who want to learn more about our vehicles - thank you for your time in making these “How To” Instructional Videos. Mark

    For anyone who would like to do the job properly and not be sticking bits of plastic on.
    These are the part numbers for the 4 spring clips and new retaining brackets both sides.
    If you renew them all it will cost less than $25 per side.
    4 off 1297270041
    1 off 1297270111
    1 off 1297270211
    1 off 1297270311
    1 off 1297270411
    Also DO NOT pull the plate as per Vid it should be eased from the front towards the back and gently pulled out.

    Thank you for another great video. I bought a near perfect wood switch panel on eBay for $100 , for the passenger side of my 1995 SL320. I now have to install it. Thank you posting this video .
    Its a shame , the costly damage that some people can cause by putting screws in the interior of a Mercedes. It's evident that those type of people don't appreciate the fine elegance of these cars.Thank you again.

    Thanks! Very clear description of my rattle problems when the doors close. They sound good from the outside but not when closing from the inside. Can't wait to get into the door with the magnetic retrieval goody. Thank you again.

    Brilliant video. Recently bought a 280SLfor my wife and this is one of the very few things to fix as they were both very loose. Went out today, 15 minutes later two perfectly solid panels. Brilliant!

    If your changing the twist bulb you need to buy the whole plastic piece, the bulb is attached to it

    Do you know where to get the lower brown plastic pieces with the little hook thingy. They’re on the opposite side of the metal clips. Mine are broken and I can’t find any online.

    • @fupabox
      @fupabox  4 года назад

      dealership has them or can have them in a couple days ..they aren't too expensive and the dealer has the entire parts breakdown..down to individual screws. I found it cheaper and easier to get trim parts in the right colour etc. straight from the dealer

    I am in need of the metal trim clips for this application and have not found any sources for them. Can you point me to a good source for these metal clips? Please :) BTW: very nice video!

      @@fupabox I ended up calling a MBZ salesman at Pelican Parts and he spent a good amount of time researching these and found them in their inventory. (Spring) Part #129 727 00 41

    Anyone know a decent place to buy the bezel or a wood grain covering for these seat control panels? The wood grain is peeling off of it. Do you have to buy the whole kit, or can you just buy the seat control covers or decals (whatever they are made out of).

    • @fupabox
      @fupabox  8 лет назад +1

      +moparmusclecars They're real wood veneer ..you can get just the wood part nd swap the clips and buttons off the old one..dealers have them available for approx $170 per side if I remember correctly
