We knew a boxer mix named Gus, who loved to grumble and fuss when being talked with, or bathed. His owners just laughed and called him "Grumpy Gus." We always told them we had excellent conversations with him. He lived to be almost 20 years old.

@@Choujifangirl Exactly. And they had him since he was around 6 months old. He was a noticeably grizzled and gray old fellow for the last few years, but always had a sweet smile, coupled with a grumble and mumble as we chatted with him. He never saw a treat he didn't enjoy, then would complain that there should have been more.
@@antiquegirl6505 my mom had a German Shepherd that was like that every day when my mom would get home from work he would come up to her and complain about the New dog, literally like “woman you would not believe what he did today and I had to prevent them from doing this that and the other” all spoken in dog language and it was hilarious
My dog makes similar grumbly noises, we have full blown conversations back and forth, and he always has to get the last little grumble in
This is so sad, yet inspiring and happy at the same time. At least his end of days will find him happy and loved. We should all be that lucky, man or beast.

@@Tranquility32 Traditionally when flown it's a call for help that basically means "those here are in distress" but yes, in modern context it has become more of a symbol of general dissatisfaction with the state of our politics.
I also understand the curiosity about it, because both sides have used this symbol in varying contexts. But maybe that's what OP wants. If they were hard left or right they would probably use a different symbol to extol their feelings. But you certainly don't need to be left nor right to understand that things are wack.
Levi looks like such a wonderful old gentleman. I hope the rest of his days are filled with good food, open spaces, and loving memories.

People who adopt senior pets are angels!! They have less time with them and have to spend more money on all their medical needs, but they still give those senior babies the best years of their lives
One of the greatest regrets in life I have is that I didn't adopt an elderly dog after I lost my previous one .... She was 14,5.I struggled with veterinary bills and my own health. 💔
The joy and love an elderly dog gives is just so precious 💖
My mom is a big advocate for adopting older dogs. We had two when I was growing up. One we found out was 7-8 when they said he was 5. The other was 10-11. Both very good boys. Unfortunately they both had to be put down do to health reasons that our vet said the procedures were not a guarantee. And their ages were against them (both of them were about 13-14 at the time).
This! My dog was 7 when i adopted her from the shelter and she was so sick and weak that the vet and the volunteers told us she probably wouldn't see the next year.
Jokes on them, she's almost 15 and thriving! :)

May be due to the enlarged thyroid. We lost our 10 yo to it and it affected his throat too

I have an enlarged thyroid and just like in pets, if left untreated it can push on your throat enough to do damage
The thyroid is located on the throat above the trachea, just like a human's. Cancer there causes a gravel-ly tone in the voice.

A coworker of mine in a dog-friendly office had a corgi who unfortunately wound up with thyroid cancer that didn't respond to treatment. Her breathing eventually sounded like that. Toward the end she couldn't even handle solid food; her last meal was a pureed steak, because she just couldn't swallow anything but liquids.
He's so calm and composed at this age .. ❤️😘

OMG! Hank? He passed? He was so adorable and so stubborn. It hurts the soul to know that he's passed on. I can only hope Levi knows how much he is loved and cherished by every GWTD fan and his family. Stop cutting those onions, damnit.
Condolences to Hank’s family 😢 My older cat lived for just over three years after diagnosis with a thyroid tumour, I wish Levi much happiness for his remaining life. Such a good boy and an impressive furnado!

Yes!! My sister is a groomer and was a vet tech for many years before that, and has sent MANY clients to the vet for things she found, most notably she noticed something off with one of her clients legs and told the owners to definitely get it checked out because she was worried it was bone cancer. She was right and I'm not sure exactly what happened afterwards, but at least they owners knew and could make whatever plans they needed to make to keep their pup happy and comfortable.
Aaaand now I'm crying. Good-bye, Levi, it was lovely getting to meet you.

Unfortunately, cancer becomes more common with dogs as they age :(
I had a Lab who passed away at 10 from it, and my friend’s Bullmastiff was the same age and also passed from cancer
And a couple famous RUclips dogs passed away from it too ; Mishka died in April 2017 at 14, and Zeus the Stubborn Husky died in November 2020 at 11 from liver cancer.
and yes for 12 he looks so good .. hopefully he has a decent amount of time left to enjoy his new family

I can’t have fur bearing pets. I used to have a dog when I was a young man, and that’s how I found out I was allergic. I can’t tell you how much joy your channel brings me even though I can’t have a dog or cat as a pet. I also have lupus which can be quite a lonely disease. Thanks a bunch and I wish you the best.

If you still are interested, perhaps you can adopt a small, single layer (no undercoat) dogs. They are however, higher maintenance with regular grooming and daily combing.

honestly first looking at him I wouldn't have thought he'd have so much fur but holy cow!
He's a good boy living the good boy life now. My precious girl died back in March from what was probably a tumor in the nose. It came on so fast, there really wasn't many options. Cancer sucks, doesn't matter if its the goodest girls and boys, or people.
Levi is loving the blow drier. Love that his family is trying to make him more comfortable and happy.

I also adopted a Senior shelter little mutt. So very sweet, smart , observant, and definitely knows his own mind! Four months after I adopted him, he was found to have Lymphoma. I opted not to do the chemo. He has been doing so well on steroids and Chinese supplements, but I can see the time is getting closer. Bittersweet.
I lost my last 3 labs to cancer. They have such short lives to begin with, but cancer robbed them of some of their years. It's heartbreaking.
Once again a simple little animal has the ability to pull at the human heart more than you would think possible. Glad he is living a good life until the end.

OMG. This could be the twin to my shelter baby, Doug!!! Wow. They look so much alike. 🥰 My Dougie is 14 and a few months ago was diagnosed with terminal cancer as well. Just loving him during his time left. So similar to this cute guy Levi!

Levi is gorgeous. I hope he has a great life and isn’t in too much pain and that he passes away gently in his sleep. I know the owners won’t let him suffer 😊 and am sure he will be missed when he reaches his time to cross the rainbow bridge.
I know how bad it can feel when a dog has to go trought cancer. I had a German Shepherd when I was a kid and she died on cancer :(
We had three German shepherds growing up. The one who lived the longest died of cancer. It was so sad to see
I have such a soft spot for elderly pups. He seems really healthy and active for an old timer especially one with cancer. Bless him, his family and you guys for making him feel and look better 💗

My groomer is in the same building as my vet, so when the groomer sees something seemingly abnormal, she calls the vet over to have a look.

My 3rd dog passed from cancer. We put him down before he got to a point where his quality of life was bad. We got to hold him on the floor of the vet in our laps as he passed, so he'd feel safe. I'm glad Levi is getting to spend his last years with people who love and care for him.

Way to notice health issues in your clients! We've followed our groomer to 3 salons because they take such good care of our tiny old curmudgeon and they've noticed things we miss because we see him every day. Good groomers deserve all the praise!

That's like my dog! He lives on 5 acres with my other rescue. And suffice to say, they are both EXTREMELY happy.
Today I had to put our dog down due to a long illness. We took him in 4 years ago at age 11. He was my best friend and will miss him forever. It’s so good to see older dogs being adopted. I love this channel. It always gives me happiness..
