Thanks for this video. I used to go there a lot when I lived in Meadville, but haven't been back up that way since 2014. A lot has changed, glad you aren't having to do a dead mall video on Millcreek. Great work.
I can't believe it a mall that still exists. Loved the walk through Wallie makes me want to go there and check it out even though I'm here in North Carolina.
Nice to see one mall that isn't dead and still thriving today in 2023, can't believe the whole building is shaped like a gun though (yikes!). Love that cheesy commercial at the end too, it's bloody hilarious! hehe! 😆
Its so nice to see a mall video with a positive outlook. So many of the mall videos we see are about how empty they are, how they are dying and its sad as a way of life seems to be dying with them. That's why it is so nice to see this video and see how well the mall is doing. Thanks for doing this Wallie!
I grew up just below Erie in Meadville. This used to be such an amazing mall. We had so much fun going up there in the 80’s and early 90’s. Back then that mall was packed on the weekends. Many great memories there.
My uncle David was the assistant manager at Diamond brothers men clothing store at the mill creek mall in Erie PA. Unfortunately diamond brothers store filled for bankruptcy but I really enjoyed visiting this mall. Thank you for sharing this video it brought back a lot of goodies memories when I visited Erie pa.
Millcreek Mall, one of the few malls left in America that are not only surviving, but thriving. Thanks in large part due to folks from Pittsburgh, Ohio, New York, and Canada who visit Erie by the millions every year. I also think it's really cool that the water tower still has the channel 12 logo on it, despite the station not really using that logo for the last decade or so since they merged with WSEE to become "Erie News Now".
👍👍👍👍👍👍👍 I really enjoyed this Millcreek Mall video, Wallie! I really great to see a thriving mall! Kudos to fye and Boscovs. As I watched this video, I also saw a Books A Million and kudos to that store as well. I read fiction novels, Dean Koontz, James Patterson's Alex Cross novels, Jonathan Kellerman's Alex Delaware novels, and John Sanford's Prey novels, i e, Phantom Prey, Winter Prey.
I live in Erie not too far. I go there sometimes. I always remember walking around eating Auntie Anne's pretzel nuggets while walking down to the little play area when I was a young child. Very nostalgic place for me.
another terrific video. thank you so much for all you do. cafaro seems to have great malls as i have been to 2 others by them. st. clairsville oh, and niles oh. both malls are very nice and at last visit were very much alive. thanks again and safe travels!
I grew up a few blocks from this mall, and still live in the area, so I too, am very fond of this mall and how well it's done it's whole life. I was born a few years after it opened. You're absolutely correct that it is totally its own business district. Most people don't know that it has its own zip code! (16565) Wonderful video. You did a great job!
I remember going through Erie when we were going through Ohio to go to upstate New York. I'm from the mountains of North Carolina, and upstate New York reminds me a lot of here. Getting to see another Great Lake in Erie (I've also seen the one in Chicago) was awesome! The vastness of the Great Lakes always takes my breath away. We had also got to see Niagara Falls on that same trip, but Lake Erie was just as breathtaking as Niagara Falls!
Very nice presentation,Wallie. Girlfriend and I were in Erie a couple of weeks ago. Ate at smugglers wharf right on the lake. Gf. Loved her lobster roll. Took a 90 minute boat ride on the Lady Kate. Hit the casino on the way home. All in all a very nice trip.
As an Erie native, Heartland is a puppy mill and people have found the paperwork linking their animals to known puppy mills. I'm surprised you didn't mention how the food court area used to be a large McDonald's with balcony seating (I was temporarily assigned there during the holidays when they were getting ready to close it) and that FYE used to be the Millcreek Cinema 3 theater.
HI Wallie great video what a lovely shopping mall its was great to see it pumping with shops open and people shopping that is my kind of shopping center , now about your cheesy tv commercial I love the beginning where the sailors landed on shore and I heard the Australian Kookaburras' laughing the background great ad for a shopping mall but once a gain a great video from you Wallie love these shopping mall videos and hope to see you in the next one
Thanks for the video, there's actually a video of the mall back in 1986, it's crazy how busy the mall was back in the 1980's! There's never anyone there anymore.
Great video! There used to be two competing arcades at opposite sides of the mall. The Red Baron and Tilt. There were numerous pizza shops and several record stores. I worked at JC Penney’s in the late eighties. Lots of memories at this mall.
Aw man I’d love for footage inside Millcreek mall 2008 and earlier before they did the renovations! I have so many memories there over the years. Been going here my whole life. 26 years
WallieB26, thanks for doing this. I grew up in Erie and started going to this mall when it opened in the 70s. There use to be a theatre at the entrance of that food court. I saw Star Wars for the first time there in 1977
I grew up in Painesville Ohio and we have The Great Lakes Mall in mentor Ohio and it’s a pretty cool mall if you’re interested in checking it out. Mentor Ohio is about 75 miles west of Erie pa.
I was just looking at an abandoned (?) Cornwell tools building on West Cherry Hill Road almost to the Ohio line near Albion Pennsylvania today and I thought of you and wondered where you were adventuring and then I come home and you posted this video. Also thought about your videos when I went by the now-closed Albion volunteer fire department
If I remember correctly, my mom worked at Sears for a short time in the late 80s, and my dad had a job at the mall too before they even knew each other. My grandma worked a Kaufman’s in the 1990s. This place was a staple in the Erie community when it was built and still seems to be, when I was in high school from 2017-2020 a lot of people would go there to shop/hang out on weekends.
the thing about this mall is that whenever I went to the promenade part, I would always keep my head down looking at my feet because if I ever looked up at the high ceiling I would immediately feel dizzy and lose my sense of balance and gravity and feel like I was falling up towards the ceiling.
This mall even though its in your homesite of Pennsylvania surely matches about the same in square feet as Woodfield mall in my former home state of Illinois!
I actually moved from southern Erie County PA on Oct. 12 2023. However, the last time I was at the mall was around 2000/01. The reason, it was going downhill. Although it appears to still be thriving enough for stores to remain open and the renovations that were done make the renovated areas look better, it still needs improvement. Erie, needs improvement.
Wallie that was history not blabbering i thought your presentation was balanced. I thought the urban legend about the design of the mall was to good to pass up😁👍
The Cinemark on Peach Street actually existed at the same time as the “Dollar Theater.” Movies would first come to the Cinemark, then about a month after release they would go to the Dollar Theater at a much cheaper ticket price. Really was a great spot.
I went up 99 in Edinboro to go to Hulings Blueberries and caught 19 up to 20 west, which turns into W. 26th Street where I go to the Whippy Dip. I froze the screen and Sonic looks like a fast food joint in the mall. I’m going to Presque this month and possibly October, after the kids are in school and will stop at Edinboros Dunkin on Route 6 for pumpkin cold coffee with a double shot of espresso and then eat at Long John Silvers. Love their fish, slaw and fries for me and my Bostons. I’m the same Wallie, Erie is my happy place. The people are happier than Pittsburgh area which is a rat race. Never had the yearly Erie trips as a kid, every once in a while, but for the last 5 yrs have really liked the place. I’m going in April 2024 for the Solar Eclipse if the weather cooperates. I’d like to, in October go west to OH, get off Columbiana exit and take 14 west to 534 N up to Mesopotamia and go visit an 1840s End of the Commons store then continue on road north until I hit Route 20 and head east to Erie and see some roadside attractions or towns. 534 N is very scenic rural farm country driving.
Is this owned by the Cafaros? If so all Cafaro owned malls are thriving. Mine in Bridgeport WV is and one end of the mall is being renovated for the first Boscovs. Yes Cafaro seems to be adding them to their malls. West Virginia has 2 Meadowbrook Mall Bridgeport WV and Barboursville mall outside of Charleston WV. All other owned malls are dying in the state. Well yes the Cafaros own it and yes man Cafaro is used to lainder mafia money. That's why my town has a cafaro mall as Clarksburg is still mafia ran town.
The handgun shape has to be planned. A mall that continually gets new anchors in 2023 is doing quite well. I would rather anything than Dicks Sporting Goods since they are the worst sporting goods store out there.
Thanks for this video. I used to go there a lot when I lived in Meadville, but haven't been back up that way since 2014. A lot has changed, glad you aren't having to do a dead mall video on Millcreek. Great work.
Sending some love and support hope you have a great weekend buddy!
Awesome job!!!!! 🥇
Thanks for the mall tour. Looks very nice, clean and big.
I can't believe it a mall that still exists. Loved the walk through Wallie makes me want to go there and check it out even though I'm here in North Carolina.
That mall looks awesome.
Nice to see one mall that isn't dead and still thriving today in 2023, can't believe the whole building is shaped like a gun though (yikes!). Love that cheesy commercial at the end too, it's bloody hilarious! hehe! 😆
Really enjoyed this video. This is a very nice mall.
Happy Labor Day Weekend Wallie

Beautiful mall Wallie. Great video, thank you! ,,,,as a Clevelander we always pronounced it Hal-lee's.
Great cheesy old commercial for the mall. I admit, your “urban legend” comment cracked me up! 😂
I grew up just below Erie in Meadville. This used to be such an amazing mall. We had so much fun going up there in the 80’s and early 90’s. Back then that mall was packed on the weekends. Many great memories there.

Keep malls alive!!!! Very cool 😎👍 thanks Wallie 💜
Awesome video Wallie the mall has changed so much over the years. It was awesome to finally meet you at the Boscov's.
One of my favorite places to go in Erie!
My favorite mall! I always gotta stop at FYE!
Millcreek Mall, one of the few malls left in America that are not only surviving, but thriving. Thanks in large part due to folks from Pittsburgh, Ohio, New York, and Canada who visit Erie by the millions every year.

I wish there were more pictures of the 80s .. I wanna see the arcades... payphones and smoking Pitts 😂

I haven’t been their since early 2000
That's a nice mall glad it is still doing well and has the original owners.
fantastic mall, It is one of very few gems in 2023. I will visit there some day. from LV NV

I love the millcreek mall and I love that it’s still bustling!
❤❤you should come and see it at Christmas time it's so very busy ❤❤
I grew up in Painesville Ohio and we have The Great Lakes Mall in mentor Ohio and it’s a pretty cool mall if you’re interested in checking it out. Mentor Ohio is about 75 miles west of Erie pa.
Enjoyed this mall tour very much.
Looks like a nice mall but south hills and Westmoreland malls are really nice to.

wish the beginning music was 80s themed...woulda been sooo cool
This mall even though its in your homesite of Pennsylvania surely matches about the same in square feet as Woodfield mall in my former home state of Illinois!
I like going to that mall! It's only about an hour away from us. We go to the pet store every time we go there
Same 😂

Its one of the nicest malls I've seen videos of😊
Greetings from Baldwin!
Really cool video Wallie! Thanks for the mall tour!
11:28 I filmed that RUE 21 when it was closing
That used to be Burlington where round one and those two restaurants are
👋 wallie enjoy your weekend.
I love your videos 😍
Great video!!
Thank you!
🎉
It must be hard to pick between outback steakhouse or red lobster for dinner
The Macy at my nearest mall has about 8 Macys Enterances 4 on the top and 4 on the bottom floor
Great video Wallie!
Awesome Wallie
Wallie next time you’re back in Erie you should go on west 26 street there is a nice toys store call the action toy store
I went up 99 in Edinboro to go to Hulings Blueberries and caught 19 up to 20 west, which turns into W. 26th Street where I go to the Whippy Dip. Is the Wegman’s towards the city or past Splash Lagoon?
The Wegman's is about halfway between the mall and Splash Lagoon. (South of the Mall, and north of Splash lagoon)
The old Sears automative center got demoed and fast food restaurant replaced it
Sonic Drive-in claimed the parcel.
Sorry I'm not local to this mall I'm sure it's nice but it feels like a time warp circa early 2000s. Kinda comforting scary.
Been there in 2010 geez
there was a McDonald's there to back in the day
Can you do Grove City, or did you do that one?
I never filmed that yet.
The old Dollar theatre is a church ..
Day 3 for kmart in alma mi
4:21 Channel 12 water tower 📺
Originally had "Millcreek Mall" printed in blue letters when it first opened in the 70s.
Is this owned by the Cafaros? If so all Cafaro owned malls are thriving. Some places have been demoed
Please don't support Heartland Pets. They have a long history of animal cruelty and doing business with puppy mills.
Unfortunately, you are correct.
9th like
Heartland pets are way too expensive
