Mamani Keita n'est pas seulement l'une des grandes voix du Mali, une chanteuse qui sait aimanter son auditoire pour mieux le séduire avant de l'électriser ; elle possède aussi un charisme souverain et de grands talents d'ouverture musicale qui font d'elle une artiste indépendante et engagée.
Dans Kanou, dont le titre signifie "aimer" en bambara, son timbre à la puissance de feu s'imbrique parfaitement dans les arabesques tissées par le n'goni du virtuose Moriba Koïta et les guitares de Djeli Moussa Kouyaté, ancienne figure de proue des grandes années du Rail Band de Bamako. Rempli d'une force généreuse et de chansons qui sont autant d'élans passionnés, ce premier album sous son seul nom qu'elle a tenu à diriger est bien le signe d'un tournant décisif dans son parcours.

Mamani Keita is one of the great voices of Mali, a singer who knows how to bind her audience to her, all the better to seduce and then electrify them. She is also supremely charismatic, with a generous spirit that embraces the world and its music. All of which makes her an independent and socially engaged artist.
In Kanou, meaning 'to love' in her native Bambara, Keita's blazing vocals intertwine perfectly with the arabesques woven by the n'goni of virtuoso Moriba Koïta and the guitars of Djeli Moussa Kouyaté, a figurehead for the Bamako Rail Band during their glory years. Overflowing with a benevolent strength, this collection of searingly passionate songs is her first solo album, marking a decisive turning point in her career.
