The Red baron and this song are my favorite songs from Sabaton.
This story is both incredible, terrifying and pretty informative.
This battle was the birth of weapon legislation for war and ban for biological weapons in them, this attack was one of the most destructive in recorded history as the german used chlorine gas mixed with other types of gasses, the damage was so terrifying it caused the enemy soldier to literally rot while alive, their limbs barely holding up from falling off their bodies, literally coughing their innards, lungs included and crying blood cuz every blood vessel in their body literally busrted, when the german though their enemy was wiped out, they found themselves in front of the closes thing in real life to a zombie attack.
Imagine, 7000 soldier literally confident of no resistance by the enemy forces find themselves in front of ghouls barely able to walk and feeling no pain from being shot and literallyshooting and atacking back, as the song said, getting back up again and again to fight the enemy forces, their panic was so inmense, the number didn't mattered, they retreated out of sheer terror going over traps and even other soldiers and only when they were gone, the russian soldier stated to finally rest.

Your comments generate more appreciation about what mostly caused 7000 German soldiers to panic facing 100 or so Russian soldiers. They really were dead men walking, or crawling, or still firing when they couldn’t crawl. Like zombies.

Glad to see you keep checking out my favorite band, even more elated to see you enjoying yourself. Hoping your journey keeps being a fruitful and enjoyable experience.
Offering a suggestion to your comment on liking songs about history, there is another band I think you may find enjoyable. Amon Amarth did a song about the great viking conquest of Britan called "The Great Heathan Army", captions on if you have issue with harsh vocals.

Sabaton is a Swedish power metal band from Falun, which was formed in 1999. The band's songs are inspired by various historical wars. Even the band name is military inspired, as Sabaton is also the name of the part of the armor that covers the foot. All the songs that Sabaton do and sing they can do because they have 3 historians who help them record stories that happened in war and they also have the help of fans all over the world who tip off some war event in their particular country and then these historians unearth facts that they then make songs about.
Sabaton is completely unlike any musician in the world. Since Sabaton manages everything by itself, Sabaton has 100 employees who help with everything like selling souvenirs, records, clothes. Sabaton themselves book the arenas they will perform at, book hotels and plane tickets themselves. They also manage the sale of the tickets for their gigs and by managing everything themselves they can keep the price of the concert tickets down. They don't drink alcohol before or during their gigs, but they do tricks for the sake of the vocal cords and warm up. Sabaton also owns 8 trucks that drive all stage equipment and instruments. They also own a number of buses that drive the stage crew in as well as those that sell souvenirs, clothes and records.

May I suggest Sabaton-songs, Christmac Truce" (Official music video),

and "Night Witches (Animated Story Video)"
But then again, there are so many Sabaton-songs videos that are amazing, e.g. "Father" (official lyric video), and SABATON - Lady of the Dark (Animated Story Video) and "Bismark (Official music video)" and many, many more.

Hello Sky I hope you are very well, I am a massive Sabaton fan and a nut on history especially military history, I had family serving in the British Army, the RAF ( Royal Air Force) and the Royal Navy, plus I have a lot of love and respect those serving in our military, our Veterans and our heroic dead. So when I first heard my first Sabaton song I was hooked, and became an instant fan of the band. They are just the greatest band on the planet and they are the greatest history teachers of all time. I have been very interested in the military even at 5 years old. Sabaton have a list of incredible songs, stories and live performances infront of packed theatre's, Stadiums, Cocert halls and Concerts in wide open spaces that are sold out in record times. The biggest that I've seen was in Warsaw, Poland with about 700,000 Polish Sabaton Fan's. I have a small list that if you would like to see. SABATON....Dreadnought, En Livsted I Krig ( live in Goteborg in Swedish) you need English subtitles for that song, Bismarck ( official video version), Nightwiches ( Animated video), Winged Hussars, No Bullets Fly ( Animated video), Christmas Truce ( official video), Lady of the Dark ( Animated video), 40-1 ( Live official video), Uprising ( Live concert in Warsaw Poland), Devil Dogs ( live in America), Rorke's Drift, Soldier of heaven, Ghost Division ( live in Warsaw Poland), To Hell and Back ( official video), The Red Baron ( official Animated video), Steel Commanders ( official video), 82nd All the Way, Resist and Bite ( official video),Swedish Pagans ( concert video), Shiroyama, Defence of Moscow ( official video), Fields of Verdun ( official video), The last Battle. Just a few of Sabaton's many songs for you to listen to also to enjoy and learn. BRITISH SABATON FAN 💂‍♂️💂‍♂️💂‍♂️💂‍♂️🇬🇧🇬🇧🇬🇧🇬🇧🏴󠁧󠁢󠁥󠁮󠁧󠁿🏴󠁧󠁢󠁥󠁮󠁧󠁿🏴󠁧󠁢󠁥󠁮󠁧󠁿🏴󠁧󠁢󠁥󠁮󠁧󠁿🇸🇪🇸🇪💙💛🇺🇦🇺🇦🇺🇦🇺🇦

I'll have to listen to more of them to see if anything really grabs me. I've heard songs here and there, but they never quite stuck out. I liked their cover of "Twilight of the Thunder God" by Amon Amarth. But I suppose my field of history being ancient mediterranean culture, I tend to think about mythology more than modern warfare. That's why Symphony X's "The Odyssey" is my go-to to get me hyped lol. Nice Sky! love seeing the variety and someone appreciating all of it. ❤😍.

Sabaton doesn't avoid older history. They made a song "The Last Stand" about the sack of Rome in 1527, which is certainly Mediterranean. We could go way further back to "Sparta," also Mediterranean and much more ancient.

Honestly speaking sabaton the best history teacher i could ever had
Because of that i learned that the soviet union really did a huge part in ww2 compared to the allied they had the highest casualties with or without civilian and the soviet really pushed the nazi to the corner
But our history class never mentioned this important piece of the ww2
Btw for those dont know its called march of a dead man for a reason
The german used poisson gas to kill off the russian soldier inside the fortress but instead of lying down and dying like a dog the russian soldiers charge in they would rather die fighting back than dying lying like dog thats some extreme kamikaze right there bru
After seeing those poisoned men thats already dying charging at them the german sht they're pants and retreat
