Very odd noise coming from radio station 96.7

- Been having this odd noise pop on occasion. It seems to happen a lot on this station in particular. 96.7 is local rock station and this is definitely not any kind of rock I heard. I remember it happening a few weeks ago when I got off work. It doesn’t just play in the car. It plays on every radio I have. I also remember it happening on the 97.9 station too. A friend of mine said he herd the same on 97.9. For now I’m going with aliens or the military experiments.
Station is ROCK 96.7 in Bloomington/Normal Illinois. The other station is 97.9 BOB FM
This station has had a history of this, it is licensed to place in a church and when asked, they don't seem concerned and they actually said it wasn't interference
No, that was the 96.7 frequency in the Portland, Oregon area. The description says that this is in Illinois. Likely a copycat

Sounds like failed digital audio playback hardware.
Years ago this happened at another radio station when a soundcard in a digital music playback system went bad, causing these kinds of screeches and buzzes. Because the station was running in 'automated mode' during the night when this happened, and no DJs or techs were there on duty, a radio station employee had to come to the station to correct the problem.
This employee posted this experience on Usenet many years ago.
I swear to god this is happening to my radio right now and it's 3:00 am.
Not only that but I trying to see what would happen on my other radio and then the radio just started mixing up all the functions of the buttons!

NEXPO did a video on this a few years ago. I think it interesting that there's this creepy radio station & the posters asking about strange dreams & it's all happening in Portland Oregon. Coincidence???

this happened on my NOAA weather radio station once back in 2014 exact same noise and everything i agree with the comment saying malfunctioning equipment

@@lightningchasingbassfishin3938 check the description; this was recorded in Illinois and seems to be a one time occurrence. Gives credence to the malfunctioning hardware theory.
Nearby device and transmission tower interference has a similar sound... Especially if you live within proximity to phone or radio masts... It could also be a fault on the broadcasters end... Nothing spooky just a whole lot electro magnetic interference going down.... I hope this helps 😊

This is malfunctioning equipment. The station still have RDS working normally as you can see text scrolling. They probably hook up listening watermark up to the max for accident and this killed the music. If I'm correct what you are hearing is a sound watermark. But it is definitely strange because you can see it's WAY louder than other stations meaning they're broadcasting extremely loud signal. This is definitely not normal on countries like USA where the FCC keeps monitoring stations that broadcast illegal too loud signals. (If you don't know. It's possible to overdrive a transmitter on FM and sound louder but you will start doing interfere in other stations)
I wish I saw this reply sooner! Kind of gave up looking for answers and neglected to check up on the comments as the sound just quit happening. Equipment malfunction was my original thought as both those stations (did some looking and found out their owned by the same company) have a tendency to go dead at least once a month. I just never heard anything like it before
I stumbled upon this due to RUclips channel n e x p o ,, did a segment on it it came across my RUclips feed and they showed several different RUclips uploads about this so I don't think it would be the car radio with an issue
there’s been multiple hijackings of the station that have resulted in other sounds that sometimes even have unsettling songs in the background

This happed a while ago. Someone put it best saying it was malfunctioning equipment causing this noise. Now the satiation doesn’t make that horrid noise. It just goes silent for a few seconds or minutes
@@noahb4666 your radio still had stereo decoding and RDS. The problem is on studio hardware. Maybe errors on STL Links producing corrupt audio data

i know back at my old house when the first sounds been made . and i have a exlponation for it .. if some one use a radio world trancemitor. and when u use to serch chennal for a radio channel u use to wheel to scroll to find one.. but becouse u intaveer the freqance the radio pick it up.. i know back than i use to almost turn off the radio and place it back on it happend to make the channel also give a strange sound also. the radio picks up a receaver and disconect again that the resson the radio .. interact with the on and off of the radio and makes . its like it go make a conection between the bars making a strange sound .. soon i will give a previeuw about what i meen.
