One of the best teachings on growth vs fixed mindset that I have ever heard! Practical, insightful, challenging, encouraging, relatable, and enthusiastic. Especially appreciate the habit of reading the signals to grow and redefining how to respond to self anger and self doubt. Also appreciate the insight on the habit of actively, constantly soliciting feedback from others. Thanks!

This was awesome presentation, especially the comments about athletes playing against eachother and not hating themselves and actively seeking feedback. I used to think I had a growth mindset. Better REREAD Dr. Dweck's book.

16:59 ‐ just in case no one else explained this: «to throw baby out with the bathwater" means to lose focus on what's important (washing the baby) and concentrate too much on the superfluous task. Or, it can be interpreted as eliminating something good or of value while trying to get rid of something unwanted.

I believe that throwing the baby out with the bath water comes from the olden days where families had to use the same tub to wash their gazillion kids and parents. At first the water is warm and clear, but after is has washed dad, mom, and all the older kids it would get so dirty that by the time it was the baby’s turn you could only see it’s head sticking out of the tub 😄
With this background it may be easier to resonate with the metaphor.

Change is possible. I can make it happen. And I will. The opposite says…
Where it shows up? In one place: your progress.
Where the growth mindset comes from
    CRAM
    Curiosity
Responsibility for their destiny and their family’s future
Ambition: excites us, gets us energized
Mastery: desire to become an expert at something, brings extraordinary value, talent, and skill to something
If we remove these things we have less of a growth mindset.
    Notice the signals to grow.
Disengagement is the tell of a fixed mindset. Stuck somewhere. Disengaging every time there’s challenge.
You don’t want to try, give up, have doubt and so you do something else.
Disappointment ends the day you adopt a learning mindset. I’m not angry or upset, I got to engage it differently.
It’s MY JOB. Not the worlds job, parents job, teachers job, MY JOB to engage this situation. Let me try this, use the power of choice and freedom of moment right now the Divine blessing to take on this challenge.
HOW WOULD I LIKE IT TO BE? Get excited about that. What would the ideal relationship look like? Why is that happening let me get curious learn let me see the root cause.
HOW CAN I MAKE THAT HAPPEN? Let me take ownership of…
How can I make that better? Ambition to create great wealth and save great wealth.
What must I do to develop myself to do better here?
    1. Notice the signals to grow
Notice from two different areas: PROBLEMS, or DIVINE INTENT, INSPIRATION, VISION
Something from within came up. It says, This is the next thing for us. Let’s go.
Two signals: 1. Problems 2. Possibilities
Have you been listening to the signals from both buckets and engage them?
Or do you keep having those incredible dreams but keep disengaging?
#1 PROBLEM in business. Lots of people are focussed on todays task to fight the fires and they are completely disengaged from where they want to go.
    2. Create a development plan
If every day is a reaction day, you are in a fixed mindset.
What’s the next five books you’re going to read?
You know the next five books you’re going to read. Because you began with an outcome.
I listen to how they think. I listen to what they do.
WHAT MUST I LEARN? HOW WILL I LEARN IT? Books podcasts following this person conferences
ITS GOT TO SHOW UP IN YOUR CALENDAR.
YOU DON’T HAVE A DEVELOPMENT PLAN BECAUSE YOU HAVE A SHELF OF BOOKS.
WHEN WILL YOU READ WHAT? TAKE WHAT? TRY WHAT?
If you have reverence for life, you really care about time management.
If you believe life is precious, clearly it’s also short. You deeply care about the time you spend on things. And time becomes something you are consistently man against towards so that life is valuable. If you’re happy to be alive you’re like thank you for this time on Earth.
Don’t live in fear. Of losing.
You can’t keep hoping to grow. YOU MUST GROW.
    3. Compare yourself (carefully)
Can compare themselves to others performance, habits, beliefs, results, and outcomes without hating themselves.
    Self-hate is a fixed mindset that’s I can’t be that, achieve that.
    We can compare
    Objective comparison.
    High-performers can compare without the self-dread, self-hatred.
What is the practice that they have that I HAVE NOT YET IMPLEMENTED CONSISTENTLY?
    4. Build a community
    Let life be their educator.
    Connect with the good.
