Red Mercury is very real and it’s naturally occurring substance. I can tell you, in my country there are few rare cases people have found it and sold it hundreds of thousands of dollars for it per gram. It’s top grades are from highest to lowest here ($325K per gram) 20/20, 27/27, 19/20, 18/20, 16/20 and 14/20. There are lower less valuable grades.
The "archeologist" is actually the Chief Restorer of the boat of Khufu. Is name is Hag Ahmed Youssef Moustafa. I think the ship was meant to navigate on water, not mercury. I'm a big buff of "alternative archeology". It's the stuff from what dreams are made. Thank you Dr. Miano from putting me in touch with reality.
The only red mercury I can think of in real life is cinnabar, a mineral often used as a pigment. While the art you can make with it may be magical, it's not quite as magical as what the fella here is talking about
Cinnabar (a mercury sulfide) is where mercury is obtained. It’s definitely not magic, but will give you mercury poisoning! Alchemical texts often call for red mercury, but nobody actually knows what it is. Some conspiracy theories about WWII also say the Nazis used it in the creation of their Die Glocke Wunderwaffe (wonder weapon).
What he is probably describing is cinnabar (mercury sulfide), which was commonly used as a red dye and in cosmetics in ancient times. Pretty much every ancient culture used it as a dye and in cosmetics (they didn't know it was toxic). Basically this boils down: someone found a cinnabar containing substance in the tomb.
Imagine being this snarky while talking down to, berating and insulting people constantly and still being able to convince yourself that you’re a good person.
Happy new year sir! Will you be attending “Cosmic Summit 2023”? If you don’t know it’s a convention for LAHT enthusiasts featuring Graham, Randall, Ben & Jimmy plus an assorted cast of RUclipsrs! I am not kidding this is actually a thing.
He could be tangentially referring to Cinnabar = Mercuric sulfide = toxic vermilion coloured pigment. AKA said Vermilion. Commonly used pigment refined from natural ore deposits. Eventually turns near black if poorer quality. Some examples in Renaissance art survive in v.good condition. Also used in some Chinese children's water based poster paints. ( Personal anecdote after finding one VERY heavy, very beautiful jar of it without a safety label but a pigment designation). Very intense orange red that can nowadays only really be near duplicated with the less toxic Chrome Titanates, Perylene red to a degree.
I found they moved gold out of sight of pirates in artwork like you speak of. The Swiss via the Nazis collected many of those old paintings I read. No longer in circulation as child’s artwork but now stamped “in Gold we trust” on the artwork transmuted. Just a personal theory mixed with a little gifted abullity. The guy being made fun of by this obvious Jesuit-esque cøckblocker is like halfway to knowing exactly what I’ve been able to read in ancient picture recipes that speak thousands of words in barely a mouthful. Look at what the Dutch did to Africa due to misreading the recipes. This guy cockblocking dreamers instead of helping them get to their conclusion respectfully is the reason we can’t have nice things. He makes me laugh but then I view him as being that gate keeper that shows up when too many are getting too close to the gold. Always happens, the philistine long arm reaching out to keep the top spinning in their masters common direction. Reality? He says… there’s some reality for him, that Jesuit pawn.
