I’ve seen some reviews of Gangs of Lagos floating about social media. I think yours is the one that’s convinced me to give it a watch. I’ve always been wary of BBNaija stars foraying into the film industry, because I suspect they channel their celebrity instead of skill to make it in Nollywood. But hearing you say Tobi Bakre did exceptionally well in this role makes me intrigued and interested in seeing it for myself. As to your point about research, I’ve found that this is the part in filmmaking that Nollywood still struggles with. And I can’t for the life of me explain why. Research into movie themes and relatability with real life should be the foundation of any movie, right from the scriptwriting stage to the characterizations. But Nollywood always seems to come up short when it comes to that. I do hope they will consider this aspect of filmmaking as important as the aesthetics they seem to focus so much on. Finally, don’t think I didn’t see that thing you did with the education/certificate/politician dig at our esteemed INEC president-select. LOL.
Toby have a good account of himself. Same as the villain. The lack of research worries me all lot. You see an expensive production with primary school blunders that a simple research would have prevented. About certificates…..well…🤣🤣🤣
I must say, you have keen eyes. While I absolutely love this movie and, having cried my eyes out too😂, I think I agree with you on both age and electoral realities. Terrible looked the same after a couple of decades, same as the guy with Albinism. They should have at least Created a make-believe of them aging with time. Even the man on wheel chair was still alive around the final fight and didn't age a bit. I totally love the fight scenes. Very realistic. Gives this adrenaline rush, you know. It is an absolute masterpiece, looking at where Nollywood is coming from. I'd rate it an 8/10.
