- A great sketchbook idea for beginners or anyone trying to get creative in a brand new sketchbook. I'm using Caran d'Ache Neocolor II water soluble wax pastels to draw and paint using intuition. Sketch along with me as I complete the first few pages of my Moleskine sketchbook.
I had a lot of fun with this and I hope you enjoy watching the full process.

My intuitive drawings don't look like yours - in fact at the moment they look like nothing but I'll keep trying. I'm enjoying watching what you are doing thank you.
Thanks for giving it a try with me! Sometimes if I can’t see anything I want to create, I’ll step away from it for a while and come back with a fresh look. Sometimes it’s just fun to make a scribbled mess. I’m glad you enjoyed watching! 😊👍
I meant to add, that anglerfish is just amazing, I love him so much!!
I love him too! I need to paint it on a canvas!
@@artbyheather absolutely! He’s very alive, vibrant and mesmerizing 😍
I appreciate this video more than you can know...Thanks!
You are my very first super thanks! 🥹❤️ I am so glad I could help you with this video! I am truly speechless and so grateful! You are very welcome! 🥰👍
The first, i felt like i was inside a cool cave, looking out into the morning sun coming up!
It does feel like a morning or golden hour sun scene! Thanks for sharing your view! 😊👍
I get a better result if I close my eyes when making random squiggles. Nice picture. ❤🇦🇺
That’s a great idea! I’ll have to try that next time! Thanks for watching! 😊👍
9:26 Before you added the ship it looked like explorers entering an ice cave, though the shipwreck is very cool!
13:08 looks like a Crocoduck cousin lol
🤣 It definitely looks like Crocoduck’s cousin! Thanks for sharing your views! 😊👍
Wow! Please keep up the intuitive work! I love the water cave! Not many people do represational intuitive work, but I find it the most fascinating. I'm trying to get more into intuitive art. Seeing others people's process helps motivate me! ❤
Thanks! I’m so glad you enjoyed it and got some motivation! This is definitely my favorite way to create and develop ideas!😊👍
Love it!! ❤
Thanks so much! I’m glad you liked it! 😊👍
Me and my mum have been enjoying watching you on the tv but I don’t know how to like 👍 over on the tv screen so I’ve come over to my iPad just to go back and put a like and comment 😝👌
That’s awesome! I appreciate you taking the extra steps! I watch RUclips on the tv also and it can be tricky. I think mine pops up if you select down ⬇️.. you can’t leave a comment from the tv though. I’m so glad you and your mom are enjoying my videos! 😊👍
Ah cool il give that a try thanks 👍…. Yea it’s great that my mums getting inspired too from watching you do your intuitive work she is always shouting out what she can see and now wants to give it a try herself, I’ve got too many art supplies but she doesn’t want to use mine she wants all her her own stuff lol so I’ve been getting her a few bits to start her off…. She has arthritis and didn’t believe me when I told her she could still make art but watching people like you she now sees how much fun it can be when you take the pressure off, like when you do the quick sketches and go back and make them nice yea it’s cool….. sorry I wasn’t meant to write an essay response to this lol have a good week and thank for all you do…..
That’s great! Don’t apologize for writing so much. I truly enjoy all the feedback and hearing stories like yours! They mean the world to me! I’m so glad I can help take the pressure off learning and making art. I used to stress and feel so much pressure to make something perfect. Once I realized it was holding me back, I really wanted to help others who might be having the same problem. Thanks again! 😊
@@artbyheather yes exactly 👌 👏👏👍
Hullo Heather, I did enjoy watching your intuitive drawing/painting. Yet the best, most recent first page or blank page solution was in a video on Liz Chaderton’s channel where she started her new sketchbook with the supplies she was going to start the sketchbook out with! She drew pencils, fountain pens and Neocolor 1’s & 2’s! With a simple watercolor palette included in her layout. Thank you for sharing all of your ideas and sweet pictures too!
Thanks! I’m glad you enjoyed it! That sounds like a fun way to start a sketchbook too! Thanks for sharing the idea with me! 😊👍
This looks so stunning, I love neocolours so much ☺☺
Thanks so much! I really love them too! They are so much fun! 😊👍
Ok so honest to God, my comment re the cave was literally 10-15 seconds BEFORE you said it!! 😮🙀
🤣👍 That’s awesome! You definitely called it!
The first picture with the cave turned out just wonderful and it was really great to follow the individual steps. And I think the anglerfish needs to go on a canvas. 😁
Thanks so much! I’m glad you enjoyed it! You’re right, the anglerfish will make a great canvas painting! 😊👍
I really like seeing how you enjoy using this medium and that you're actually USING the supplies and not treating them as being some precious thing that must be preserved. After watching several of your videos (I'm still working through all of them), I want to try the neocolor II, but I can't quite justify buying any currently. I already have so many art supplies that I end up in analysis paralysis trying to decide which to use.
I love seeing how loose and scribbly things start out, and how it evolves into really cool pieces! I'm still working on loosening up and letting things develop organically.
Keep making the things you enjoy and thank you so much for sharing with the rest of us!
I’m so glad you’re enjoying my videos! I’m honestly the same way. I have a wish list for SO MANY art supplies! And I still have a few that are currently being neglected because of the Neocolor obsession. lol I say keep working with what you have and whatever feels the most fun! 😊👍
Absolutely love these. The first one I could see two different paths one leading to a forest and the other leading to a beach. I find intuitive painting fascinating!
Thanks! I’m so glad you enjoyed it! I can definitely see the paths now! That would have been fun to draw also! I love this process because it even surprises me when I rewatch the footage. Thanks for watching! 😊👍
LOVE THE FISH
Thanks so much! 😊👍
The cave makes me think of old school movies ❤ The fish was great! I loved the dinosaur/crocodile guy - is he Croc-o-ducks dad 😊?
You seem so chill and having fun! I need this in my life! Great job 🎉🎉🎉
I definitely get Goonies vibes! He must be Crocoduck's long lost cousin, or a distant relative of sure! 😊👍
This is a good way off helping to make our art more fluid and lose.great idea. Thanks.
Thanks! I’m glad you enjoyed it! I hope it helps get you moving! 😊👍
I really love these, I need to get my sketchbook out and give this a go. I saw cave immediately, I love that everyone sees different things 😄
I’m glad you enjoyed it! I love reading what everyone else sees too! Thanks for sharing your view! I hope you give it a try! 😊👍
Sketched BB, one of my kittens and a woodpecker. Thanks for another great video!
That’s great! Thanks for sketching with me! I hope you had fun! I’m glad you enjoyed the video! More to come! ❤️😊👍
Omgosh this was just awesome to watch !!!!! Colors are so brilliant with the neo color II’s, it just likes up the whole page and you’re intuitive drawing is spectacular!! I found some of them in your Sketchbook playlist. It’s very inspiring, but I love anything that you do and I’m so thrilled to have found you, you make artwork look doable in such a wonderful, easy way. Of course, while you make it look doable for others, yours is always outstanding. Thank you, Heather.❤
I’m so glad you enjoyed it! The Neocolors have truly made my art practice more enjoyable and “doable” for sure! It makes me so happy inspiring others to feel like they Can do art. We can get in our own way sometimes and it’s important to just keep going. ❤️😊👍
1st thought of a piranha, then just b4 you said angler, I saw it!! Love the cave & fish!! Kinda neat that the drawings are on an angle (not straight on) Fun, Thanks ❤❤
Thanks so much! It does have a piranha look to it! Glad you like them! 😊👍
❤ I really love watching you create! I try!
Trying still counts! Thanks so much for watching! I’m glad you enjoyed it! 😊👍
Fabulous colours.
Brilliant sketchbook work
Thank you so much! Glad you enjoyed it! 😊👍
Stunning! You made something so unique out of almost nothing!! I love Neocolor II too, it's magical.
Thanks so much! I truly love this process! I think the neo IIs are perfect for it also! You’re right, they are a magical medium! 😊👍
I don’t understand how everyone brain seems to work but mine just doesn’t at all
My brain works better when I put it in rest mode! 😂👍 I tend to overthink a lot. Intuitive drawing isn’t as easy as it looks. Sometimes it’s just a big colorful mess, and that’s okay too. You can always try again. Thanks for watching! 😊👍
I see a frog in the water…
I remember thinking at one point that I saw a fish or a frog in water too! Thanks for sharing your view! 😊👍
😂
😊👍
